I spent a long time choosing this bridge camera and I am not disappointed. I wanted to take better photos of birds and local wildlife and this camera has made my amateur efforts look quite professional! I still have to master all the settings but I am impressed so far by how light the camera is with no need for separate lenses. The zoom is fantastic. Very happy with this purchase.

It's taken me a while to get used to this camera. I bought it to be a light weight alternative to my Nikon DSLR with its heavy fancy zoom lens and, for a while, I still preferred the old camera. But I have persisted, and now I love this Canon. Now I've got my head round where all the functions are, I find it light, responsive, and the zoom on that lens is really good.I can see that I'm going to be taking this one out and about much more than my heavier Nikon (which, for the avoidance of doubt, is also an excellent camera!).I really like this camera, and I'm glad I bought it.

The only positive I can find is that it is light weight. The negatives are many. Slow to zoom, I can't stop it from freezing images in the view finder despite turning off the review thing. This means it is impossible to take anything that is moving as you can't see to pan the image. The object has long gone by the time you can see through the view finder again. The image quality is pretty poor. Birds should have feathers, animals should have fur, grass should have individual spikes. A lot of the time it blurs into one colour. Very disappointed. I would like to give no stars but for being light I will give it one.
Love this camera. Many years ago dabbled with a DSLR camera with interchangeable lenses, great photo quality but found that lugging around a large bag was impractical for backpacking and multi day walking. This has answered my call. One camera, one lens, great focal range, good picture quality all in one small package. I have also purchased a monopod to give more stability when using the long focal length but works a dream.
Good Points: The Canon SX70HS is very light weight and perfect for wild life photography and of course the 65x zoom.The battery life is good.Improvement Points: I do not like the scene mode not enough scene effects, the SX70HS is an expensive camera it is a shame it is not weather sealed for that price.shame no option to delete all images apart from going in to the menu a bad design.and to have the picture style in the Q menu. and to explain what the auto picture style is like if it is a natural or vivid ?.
