I love photography; even though I am only an amateur. However, I didn't have a good camera and was only using the camera on my cell phone, so that's why I decided to get this camera.I love being able to give pros and cons about a product when I leave a review; however, I have not found any cons about this camera at all. This in my opinion, is great because it actually keeps the flash protected.Another awesome feature is that the screen where you see what you are taking a picture of, can actually fold upwards, so that if you want to set a self timer and take a selfish or a group photo, you can still see what you are taking a picture of and you can see whether or not the camera is getting everyone in the picture. If you have something to sit the camera on, or a tripod to use, this function, will actually allow everyone to be in the picture and you do not have to worry about finding someone to take the picture for you. This to me, is one of the greatest features ever. Especially since I have been places with people before and wanted a group picture, but either no one else was around to take the picture, or I was I guess too shy to ask a stranger or was worried it might be an inconvenience to that random person. Now with this camera, problem solved.Another thing that makes me in love with this camera, is that there is an app you can download on your phone that allows you to transfer pictures from your camera to your cell phone and you don't even need internet to do it; you only need a smart phone that currently has data service. This allows me to quickly and easily send pictures to other people or share them on social media.With the features I listed and the many more I'm sure to learn about on this camera, I will definitely be getting a lot of use out of it.Whether you are a novice or a pro, this is a camera I would recommend to anyone that likes taking pictures and I officially think this is the best camera I have ever owned.

So far, the camera itself is quite impressive. The zoom capabilities are truly incredible, and the anti-shake technology avoids blurring, even at full magnification. As for the bundle package, I would not recommend it. Some things in there aren't made for this camera, such as the hand strap. This is for a full size SLR camera. It doesn't fit on the SX740. I would recommend buying just the camera, and a couple extra batteries. Haven't looked at the software yet, but I assume it does the same thing as typical photo programs already do.

She recently lost hers so I bought her the SX740HS.I stepped through the setup menus and had little problems; they are well organized and fairly easy to find my way around based on my experience with previous models. I really like the 40X optical zoom and it seems easy to take clear pics zoomed out. Really nice that it chooses closeup mode automatically when needed.The flip up screen seems nice but it does make it a little heavier and thicker. I don't have much experience taking selfies since I've never used a smartphone so right now it is of dubious value to me.Lastly, the ability to create folders on the camera and store ... It has a variety of different shooting modes with creative features and even captures 4K video. The flip-up display screen is handy for selfies and plenty bright, even when outside in direct sun. The camera doesn’t come with an interface cable and instead relies on Wi-Fi (and a separate Image Transfer Utility program for computer) or Bluetooth for picture transfers out of the box. This is the second of these cameras I've purchased as I rate it highly. With my last one I must have taken in excess of 750K photos and some 500 videos! I have many holidays a year and also use the camera for my work. A brilliant tool and it never failed me until recently when I accidently dropped it and damaged the zoom function. Very annoying but aware I had probably got the best years out of the camera I decided to invest in a new replacement. Suffice to say, I'm delighted with the result and expect to take as many photos and videos, if not more, as my last one! Simply put, a great camera.
This camera takes good pictures, but has some real shortcomings. JPEG only is OK, but would bertte rif it captured RAW format. And the biggest feature of this camera is its telephoto reach, but it is difficult to use with no viewfinder. Focus is difficult at extreme telephoto ranges and you really have to work hard to eliminate camera shake from blurring your images. Overall not a bad camera, but if you're looking for clear, crisp images at extreme telephoto ranges, it may hot be the best choi e.

These potentially great Canon cameras with affordable long lens of fantastic (40 - 60x magnification) must have an Electronic Viewfinder (EVF) to make any practical use of the great magnification. These are like trying to waggle a small diameter stirring stick at arms length and expect you can identify and image your point of interest when using the large screen on the camera back at arms length — it is a frustratingly difficult to impossible. Yet they put an EVF on a 4x camera. To compete with high quality smart phone cameras Canon must bring something unique to their platforms the smart phone form factor cannot. As someone who is new to photography meaning I’ve only ever used phones and before that those cameras that were disposable this camera is everything I ever wanted and more! I wanted a hobby so this I thought would be perfect and it is . The picture is so clear and the distance is mind blowing. It’s actually so good there’s so many features on this I am learning new things on this every day . It’s 4K wireless it can connect to your laptop and it’s got like a foodie feature and my son was looking at all the stuff it would do to help to create his YouTube channel with a movie feauture. I guess that means we are getting another one . It has a lot of features you can read about and I don’t really know about all that except I’m learning and this takes exceptional pics. ...
