Installation was easy enough. Watched the video from Cardo on YouTube.I had to cut down the ear hole on my Aria Defiant X helmet on left side only. The right side was fine. On my wife's Aria Helmet Regent X it was easier installation with out any problems. Did not use the phone calls on this trip but the intercom worked well even up to 70mph + had to turn up the volume at the higher speeds. Forgot our ear plugs on this trip so can't how that will work. Over all extremely satisfied with this set up. My wife really enjoys the two way communication. The voice commands are a plus also. Takes a while to remember the correct way to say commands.I would recommend this set up for two to four riders. If you want more then you will have to go to the mesh Caro units.

Well,so far I like the Cardo freedom 4x. Iam 61 years old not a tech. I watched U-tube videos to use this it's boxed really well. I tried the Cardo app I really don't like it or I don't know how to use it. I found out I could say (Hey Google) it beeped, I then said (play Pandora) it went their and played music, plus my phone GPS worked on top of that! Well quality is great. Instalation was a bit tough depends on you helmet!! I had to force the boom mic behind my cheek pad to come out the front. In conclusion Iam still on a learning curve! Music is loud on my Yamaha 2012 FJR not great bass but still good sound. All in all I would buy again.....

The presentation in the packaging alone is phenominal. The quality of the JBL speakers is way better than our other set. The ease of installment and quality of the parts gets a thumbs up. We had these installed in our helmets and were out enjoying a ride that same day. My husband and I love having the clarity and ability to ride our Motorcycles together, but now we can communicate while riding and that makes for an even more enjoyable ride! They have even been incorporated in our Off-roading on our fourwheelers.

After testing out (for a season) a cheaper brand , I decided to step up to this unit. Sound quality is excellent, pairing is fast and the app (Android) works very well. Kit comes with two mics, speakers (JBL), two helmet mounts , extra velcro pieces and user manuals. Unit updated over the air as described which is super handy vs plugging it into the computer when updates become available.Tip: In order to get it to work with the app. 1: Download and install on your phone 2. Turn on bluetooth on your phone 3. Turn on unit and then pair with your phone. 4. THEN run the app and wait a few secs to get the app to see it. Any other method doesnt work for whatever reason.I installed this on the HJC RHPA 70ST helmet and used the stick on mount vs the clip mount.
My first comm units were the cheap $50 units you can find on Amazon. Struggled with those, as sound quality and functionality was poor. Could barely understand intercom communication and radio due to low fidelity circuit and/or speakers. The Cardo Freecom 4X with the JBL speakers is WAY better than those units - the Cardo intercom and radio are very clear. Google Assistant and the phone app link works consistently too! I should have got the Cardo from the beginning and not mess with the cheap stuff.
Easy to use, good sound quality...but think they could do even better. Controls are easy enough, it paired quickly with my Galaxy S22 and microphone does a good job cancelling out the background noise. I have had people tell me that they can't hear anything but my voice at the lower speeds. Music sounds good but still a little "tin-ey". I love music and good sound systems so am a bit spoiled by Bose quality. tough to compare to that.Charge lasts all day...haven't run out of battery yet and with the USB-C charger, it doesn't take long to get a full charge.
I've been using Cardo devices since the G9 series first came out, including PacTalk and now FreeCom4, so I have no reservations about the qulity of the product line. I have used them in conjunction with quality custom in ear monitors so isolation from ambient noise has always been good to excellent depending on the helmet and use of a chin curtain or neck gator to dampen air turbulance inside the helmet. Additionally, exterior mounting location is always an issue, and one of the reasons I opted for the Freecom4 is its narrower profile on the side of the helmet as well as placing the mount somewhat behind the midpoint and as low as possible so access to button functions is optimal. The main point of this review is as a suggestion to those that ride sport bikes with an aggressive forward position and armored apparel. The mounting location needs to be higher than usual to prevent jacket shoulders from scrubbing and activating the volume/pause wheel mechanism that is outboard and hangs below the device bottom perimeter. Increased volume levels and occassional pauses requiring frequent readjustments has become a constant annoyance using the clip mount from the bottom of a full face helmet.
I bought this product to connect with a friend for a 400 mile ride to Laconia. Upon purchase we met after instal and I had the device connected to my phone and app. I turned it off then when we met up I could not connect with him. My app stopped working and the device popped up as a new name. I got it finally connected to my music but failed to pair. Now I have no audio features or anything besides music and incoming notifications. 4 days later I cannot use the app with my phone still so I get blasted with super high volume incoming calls and low music that I can't change the settings on the app. Upon that it has cut out on me losing all sound for extended periods of time and keeping connection while navigating my gps through audio. Never got it to connect with a friend using another Cardo. I regret buying it for the features that don't work any better than subpar wireless headphones.
Sena is easier to use, Cardo just works better in my opinion. I constantly had problems with 2 of the 3 20S Evo's I owned just randomly disconnecting from my phone. This happened accross multiple phones and 2 different 20S units. I almost wrecked a 20k bike while fighting with it. That bad taste will never leave my mouth... Now with the Freecom 4X, the features are there, just a little harder to work with. It hasn't disconnected once! I won't be going back.
I was replacing a 8 year old Cardo which I loved but it was time. Anyway the Freecom 4 so far is much better. Installation in my helmet was fairly simple. They both connect much quicker than my previous unit and the sound is better as well. Now I frequently just plug in with earbuds to reduce the noise but the new JBL speakers might allow me to no do that every time. I haven't had the opportunity to try to connect to other riders yet so time will tell. Overall they work great so far.
