I have very sensitive skin and this caused a lot of irritation. I developed a lot of dryness, tiny red pimples, and parts of my skin would flake. I used such a minimal amount, but after 4 consecutive days of use, it took its toll on my skin. I’ve been using the remaining product on my neck and hands, to not let it go to waste. It has definitely improved the quality of my skin on my hands and seems to be a great anti-aging product. It is a bit too harsh for my face, but it works well on the hands! I just use extra sunblock on my hands to prevent further burning or discoloration. Sunblock is a must when using this product. The retinol is an inactive ingredient, but it can still cause issues for those like myself who do not respond to prescription retin-a or higher amounts. I might be worth trying to mix it with your moisturize if you feel it’s a bit too harsh.

I used this just once a week for a couple months and have gradually worked up to using it 4-5 days per week. It is an excellent value! I’m seeing results on day 5 after taking it 3 nights in a row under my night moisturizer. I took a break and now two days later the texture of my skin is so smooth in comparison to before. But , having used retinol products before I always get irritation. It dissipates and after the irritation calms I’m left with hardly any texture. I used to have oily skin and cystic acne. Now I have dry skin. Maybe a tiny bit oily on my forehead. And a LOT of texture. Scars, bumps, flakes you name it. I do a short regime with this product and my pop up acne and overall texture improves by id say a good 80%. Stars taken off for skin irritation. I made my choice intentionally knowing the outcome but I’m worried someone might think this product will be gentle because it’s Cerave brand.

Which is why, I decided to pick this up and use it on my skin on days when I do not use Retin A on my face at night, also it can be used in the morning as well, and when I desire to do such, it works just fine that way too, I understand that this product is definitely a step down from Retin A and that what I get from Retin A, I can’t expect to majorly see this with this product, but this product does have a very impressive ingredient listing which does include niacinamide, licorice root extract, encapsulated retinol, 3 ceramides, and Hyaluronic acid. Plus, it definitely is not harsh on my skin the same way that Retin A is at all. Yes, I do get a bit of a tingling sensation with this product, which is perfectly fine with me, because it just lets me know that’s working and doing the job it’s supposed to. Now, due to having used Retin A for quite a number of years, I don’t have any lines on my face at all and no sagging going in underneath my chin at all. But, it is not a product that my skin can tolerate using every night or even every other night without my skin becoming super irritated to the max. Which is why, I decided to start decreasing the amount of days that I apply Retin A to my face at night, and to use other alternative treatment products on my skin on the nights that I take off from using Retin A for sure. I can say that if you have pretty youthful looking skin, this will help you to maintain such to a certain level. If you have a few lines on your face then this product is definitely worthwhile to use on your skin for sure. However, if you’re out to use this product towards lessening very deep wrinkles on your face, this product will provide you with some results, but it honestly won’t provide as dramatic of a change to your deep wrinkles as Retin A can. Just keeping it 💯. I do understand that getting access to Retin A isn’t very easy for a lot of people. So, the usage of a well formulated retinol product such as this one can provide benefits to the skin both through temporary and long-term usage. My only con about this product is that Retinol should be amongst the top 7 ingredients, not way below such. But, I must admit, I didn’t just buy it solely because of the Retinol that’s in it anyways, because Retinol used in super high strengths in many cases can be very irritating to the skin. Definitely the less irritation to the skin the better! Now, this product is not alcohol free. But, that doesn’t me a whole lot, as there are meds that my dermatologist prescribed for me that do contain alcohol in them. So, it wasn’t something that was going to stop me from trying this product at all. However, I do like that Cerave doesn’t include fragrance in their products. Fragrance is honestly the biggest irritant that you can find ingredients wise, yet there are tons of brands that still continue to crank out skincare products filled with toxic chemical fragrance components in them, whether it happens to be quite a lot of drugstore skincare products or quite a lot of expensive skincare products instead. For the love of your skin definitely stay away from products that have added chemical fragrance or lots of essentials oils in them instead. When I use this serum, I do not apply anything over it. My skin doesn’t do well with layering of products. It just ends up clogging my skin, as our precious little pores can only take so much. Now, this serum is not very moisturizing, however, if you are someone who desires to layer something heavier over this serum, then the Cerave Moisturizing Cream is a really great option for sure.

I’m really not a review type of person ever. But I was so surprised how well this whole line has helped my skin. I usually feel so dry and my skin feels so tight. And the last time I used a retinol it was just a nightmare. I was breaking out, couldn’t consistently use it because I have sensitive skin. But since using this my skin actually feels like it had a nice drink of water. It’s so hydrating and it does exactly what it’s supposed to do. Very gentle. I’ve been telling everyone to use this if they are looking for something for preventative skincare.

This is a great product. Its even greater becUse of the PERFECT packaging. Pump top to get perfect amount on your finger tips (wasting NO product behind your nails as w a jar). Perfect size legit for travel carryon, no decanting required. The enire bottle us gilled w product w/o empty space to make it 'look" bigger. And the vacuum lump action uses every single drop of product. Its perfect. Thank you for making so many excellent decisions in getting a great product to real customers. Thank you!

Impressed at the results

Great product, very gentle. Never had a bad reaction. Took three months before the color shifted from a light cream/yellow to a bright yellow. The bottle overall has lasted three months. Given everything in the product, I can’t say for sure what is responsible for what results other than to say this is a great product that smoothed my skin and worked on my wrinkles. Great for a beginner. Very good experience.
