Clairol Natural Instincts Hair Colour - 5 Medium Brown

I have been using Natural instinct colour from last 2 year and I am not new for this hair colour brand. Before telling my experience I want to explain few features of this colour that's make me buy every time I need colour on my hair. It has 80% natural derived ingredients and for my sensative hair it's very gentle. It lasts quite long comparison than other brands. No ammonia It's vegan Experience - I like how it gives shine and life after applying it. No strong smell and hair looks very healthy. It's perfect for me as a new mom since I don't have much time to get ready and go to salon. It's 80% natural and no ammonia and that's a big thing for me since I am trying to adopt most natural products.

Out of all the brands that offer hair colouring treatments, I think I have the most “hits” when I use Clairol. This time I received the product from Influenster in exchange for my honest review. The colour I’ve been sent is lighter than the one usually purchase so it was interesting for me to try it out and see what it can do for my long hair . I liked a lot that it doesn’t have ammonia and the texture of the cream was smooth like butter. It was very easy to spread the colouring cream over my hair , it wasn’t too liquidy. It was enough product to cover all my hair which is quite long. I deducted one star because it didn’t cover the roots ( the grey hairs) 100%- but that was because the color was lighter than usual . Dark Rose Gold - Sat on the fence

(History (optional to read!): I naturally have thick slightly wavy medium brown. Have recently removed lots of stubborn black hair dye to get back to my natural medium brown colour, has left it a slight golden gingery medium brown, with golden dark blonde ends)Application: application was very easy. More or less non drip. No bad smell and didnt feel like a hair dye, felt like it was more a conditioner.Quantity: I bought 2 boxes. 1 wasn't enough for my thick shoulder length hair, but 2 was too much. But glad I bought 2.Absolutely love the quality and quantity of the conditioner and is one of the best conditioners for ny hair ever with great ingredients and really smooths it and hydrates it.Results: kind of sat on the fence about it. I wouldn't say it's rose gold at all. Its more of an auburn. I don't mind it, but it doesn't have the pinky/rose tones, it only has the warm peachy/gold tones. And rose gold has a mixture of both.Recommendation: even though I wasn't 100% happy, it is something I'd buy again. As the quality of the colour is great and didnt feel damaging to my hair at all. And for something that is vegan, cruelty free, is made of coconut and aloe Vera, that isn't damaging... is a bonus. The colour is nice, but not exactly what I was looking for. But would be a good base if I wanted to try pinky/rose gold temporary colour conditioned and colour glosses on top.

I grew my hair out from a pixie and dream of one day having long blonde hair. Knowing my latina virgin hair lifts easily, I committed to only using demis while I was growing it out. My hair is now super long and I'm starting the transition to blonde.Just as the black Natural Instincts effectively covered my graying roots adequately, the 5R that I put on top of my bleached hair is gorgeous and true to color (it is electric orange on the spots that lifted too hot, but that is to be expected). My bleach process was overall so much smoother than if I had been using permanent dyes to cover my grays.YES you will need to do cold washes. YES you will need to shampoo only once or twice a week if possible. Plan to use this in conjunction with overtone or another color depositer if you want to maintain long term vibrancy, and especially if you wash frequently- that is just the way demis work. Protect your hairline when you wash you face to prevent halo fading. Red dye is notoriously hard to keep in hair, even permanents, so take all of the extra precautions. It's still worth it for the health of your hair. Everyone keeps asking what salon did my hair. I'm going to go back in and add a brown shadow root to complete the look but I continue to love this line.

Healthy, shiny, lively hair

It is now changed

I always nought this to color my wifes hair as this product did not stink like other brands. I am allergic to strong smells and perfume. I had to sleep on the couch last night due to the strong smell after many hours of doing the color.I wish the company would go back to the old formula. It covered the gray plus it had no smell. This new formula makes me sick to use it because the smell is so strong. The company needs to consider all the customers that can’t be around strong smells. I had used natural instinct since it first came out and was so happy with it until the formula was changed. The old saying if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. Well it wasn’t broke and y’all ruined it. Perfect product!

I’m 46. I love this product! It’s not too harsh and leaves no distinct line like permanent coloring. It just naturally blends in with my grays and my brown color. I use number 6. I feel like leaving it on much longer than 25 minutes makes my hair brassy. I just wish they made little touch up kits that don’t cost the same or more than the complete kit. I just save my brush from my root touch-up kit then use it with less formula from the regular kit. It’s just a cheaper option. Hope this helps someone. :) oh and the conditioner is the best!!!! I even use to help my eight year old with her tangles. Smells nice! too. Thanks!

Update on previous review

So, I used 8A to cover regrowth of grey and highlights last September and it came out darker than I expected but faded quite quickly. As I had grey regrowth, I applied again after 6 weeks. Great coverage again. I decided to let it wash out completely so have not applied since November. But, the colour, although much lighter, looks like permanent. I have a clear line of regrowth even though I have washed it around 35 times. And that regrowth is clearly from. the last time I coloured it as it is only about an inch. My previous permanent colour would he grown out at least 3 to 4 nches by now. I now have to get a salon colour to sort this out as I am not using this again. Used for years, 66 years old, no grey showing

Im maybe not typically grey but I do have some grey and this is perfect for me. I use it about every 2 months. I usually use the blonde and it lightens and covers. Ive used this rose gold before and I like it for a change. Its an unusual tone, warm without being stark. It is semi permanent and will slowly fade. If you have loads of grey its worth a shot if your trying to maintain condition as I am, using more regularly will create a build up of colour too, so again, worth a try. I use this now as I spent 40 years bleaching my hair and at 66 I cant keep that up. This (in all the medium to light colours) works fine for me. The condition of my hair is great now. Those saying it doesnt even touch grey can only speak for their hair. It covers mine perfectly. I think thick grey hair that was dark may struggle but I cant say.
