Clif Builders Bar Chocolate 12x68g

I purchased this bar since I couldn't find my regular, and it is more like a typical protein bar than a snack bar. It has a thick layer of protein "nougat" and some lighter crunchy protein crisps underneath. The peanut chocolate flavor isn't overpowering, doesn't feel chemically at all which I love. It's just sweet enough, but the "nougat" is so thick and can leave you chewing for awhile. Not my new favorite, but a very good protein bar for most.

BEST Chocolate Protein Bar

I love this protein bar. Tastes MUCH better than all the others I’ve tried. Doesn’t taste like protein at all. Has a thick layer of chocolate plus another thick layer of crunch, perfect texture combo. Mixed chocolate and mint so well, the mint isn’t too overpowering. Almost tastes like a thin mint. If I eat a whole one it’s filling, half of one is the perfect treat. I like to throw them in the fridge. 10/10

Oh my!! I’ve not tasted the other bars but this one is yummy! Usually protein bars leave a bad after taste and rarely help me feel full. These bars are large. You can easily eat half and have the other half later. That would help distribute the calories and macros. Yes, the sugar is 17g for the whole bar. It does contain cane syrup, cane sugar, brown rice syrup. Something to consider if you need to have lower sugar. It also has 31g of carbs. Also something else to consider with how you are eating. For me this bar meets all my needs and leaves me satisfied. For someone that is an emotional eater the taste and texture help me feel as if I’m having something naughty while getting in protein. The bottom is like chocolate rice crispies and top is chewy.

Didn't love 'em & I"m a Clif Bar Fan From Way Back

I love Clif Bar products and have discovered Builders bars. I recently got the mint and peanut butter ones, and these minis seemed like a great idea, for a quick snack to toss in my purse. I was really disappointed at how tasteless and unpleasant these were. I wish I had more descriptive terms. Dry? No flavor? I was glad when I stopped chewing and it was over? Yea. It got 2 stars because it WAS a good for me snack. But yea. Won't buy again, won't recommend. The other Builders Bars are great.

Good flavor

These protein bars aren't bad at all. I was temporarily put on a special reflux diet, and since I'm vegetarian, finding a protein source that I was "allowed" to have was challenging. This bar was fine for that. It's not extremely sweet, but it's good enough and provides protein. The texture is slightly chewy but not too much. IMO, the calorie count is a bit high for a protein bar with that many grams of protein but it's good enough for now and cheaper than some other brands.

Great taste, and none of the >ahem< side effects that often come with protein bars.

You name it, I’ve tried it. As a fitness professional for over 35 years, I’ve had dang near every protein bar on the market. Most of them are either packed with sugar and calories, taste like sawdust, are impossible to chew, or leave you with gas and bloating due to the combination of whey protein and soy protein isolates. This bar is our household fave. Low glycemic, delicious, easily digestible, and stays with you. Perfect after a work out, or as an in between meal snack. My only gripe – Pricey, and I wish they came in minis!

If you're a coffee drinker you'll love it

Good flavor-since it was called cookie dough I was kind of dreading it but it had a chocolate coating (and Cliff Bar & Company uses good chocolate) and a mocha-y taste. Plus filling-easy to wait hours after for the next meal without further snacking.So, I did see the statement on the package that it had caffeine but I was more interested in the ingredient list and impressed by the fact that it had 20 g protein plus I'm a tea drinker-three to four cups of unsweetened black tea a day, what's caffeine to me, right? Well...hadn't quite finished the bar before the caffeine jitters hit me, feeling hot, hands shaking, stomach twisting (who else finds caffeine great for regularity?!). New Recipe Fail

I've been eating this Vanilla Almond Clif Builders bar daily for years and have left a previous extremely positive review. I've tried other flavors and had always come back to this one as my favorite. There has always been slight variability in terms of hardness/chewiness with some batches moister/softer than others, but almost always acceptable. I only once requested a replacement for a bad batch before more recent events.A few months ago, I ordered multiple boxes to restock. The first one I tasted was like eating cardboard. Density and dryness were almost at an OMG I can't eat this level though I've managed to get through 48 of them while alternating with some older stock Cinnamon ones. They did change the recipe. In addition, I was informed "We did make some updates to streamline the recipe, including reducing the sugar, increasing the amount of organic ingredients, and removing gluten-containing ingredients like oats." Well it may have less sugar and be less sweet and more dry, but total calories increased slightly. The replacement box was very similar to the 4 boxes I had from the other batch, though marginally less hard/dry.Bottom line is: they may think the new recipe is somehow healthier, though I'm not convinced that's true, and it certainly tastes a whole lot worse!

Pretty tasty for a protein bar!

I honestly probably will not buy these very often because I would just eat them as a snack, they are pretty good! They are slightly dry/chalky which is typical for a protein bar so it didn't bother me at all. The bar is pretty big but not too heavy/filling which I like because I don't like to feel full right before or after working out. I also like the different layers inside because it adds a little bit of crunch to the chewy nature that most protein bars have and I thought the chocolate coating tasted good as well. Not super sugary or flavorful tasting, but still good and I would eat it again. Also love that it was gluten and dairy free!

Take out the inulin/chicory root!

I used to love these bars over ten years ago, but they don’t seem to taste the same as I remember. What I hate about all clif bars now is that they put inulin aka chicory root fiber in them now, which turns my digestive system into an over inflated balloon that constantly needs to depressurize every ten minutes or so. They say your body gets used to inulin over time, but not so. In the past five years or so, a lot of our family’s favorite snack foods (granola, cereal, bars, even bread) have switched to including this awful fiber in their ingredients list. The only time I can now eat any clif bar, the Builders included, is in the morning on an empty stomach and wait to eat later in the morning when my stomach growls. I wish there was some grass roots movement to ban this awful fiber from sneaking into our foods. But if I’m not feeling good in my gut, I don’t care what good the fiber does in other areas. No wonder there is so much more IBS and other variations out there, I started to think that’s what my problem was, until I started doing a little of my own research regarding this so called “beneficial” fiber. Take it out!
