Love these Tumblers.... I have always had issues with straw-sippy cups leaking/bursting milk out of the straw during meals.... I finally figured out that it happens when the milk/liquid in cup is warming up (because it had been cold & refrigerated originally), and the cup is pressurized due to that nifty clear silicone spill-valve in the straw.... so as soon as it warms up (which could be as quick as a minute or 2 in many cups), it pushes right through that spill-valve and spills all over the high-chair or table where my kiddo is eating their meal. This allows for the water to leak out and dry itself out overnight. It's super easy... haven't had any issues.Other suggestions for cleaning the lid better due to silicone edge around straw hole maybe holding some milk occasionally.... I grab a cereal bowl and fill with hot water, add a couple drops of dish soap (Palmolive or Dawn type), stir/mix. Heat the soapy water in the microwave for a minute or longer so it's good and really hot, then I submerge the lids in the bowl and let them soak in the hot soapy water overnight. It really helps get any remnant milk stuff out of any nooks & crannies. Then I just rinse in the morning, shaking water out of air hole, allow it to drip dry in dish rack (air hole pointing down), or I put it right to use again in the morning. Haven't had any issues with mold, mildew, etc in the lids.My one complaint is that I have had these cups for at least 6 months now, and I am starting to notice that after use, a couple of them are starting to have the milk push through the straw relatively soon, which they never did before. The only thing I can think of is that after so many washes and use, the clear silicone spill-valve in the straw has gotten over-worked (kinda like the soft-nipple sippy cups where the lil holes in the mouthpiece start to rip or crack and you have to replace...). They have been great to me, but I think it's time to replace the straws, but I can't seem to find replacement straws. I am so disappointed!!!! The rest of the cup is still in very good condition so no need to replace the whole cup, but that is my only option right now. So I'm really bummed suddenly about these cups. Hence the 4-star rather than a 5-star. Have to figure out what I am going to do....

While I am writing this review for the kids bottle with the silicone spout, and can NOT agree more with the many reviews; this is part of a bigger problem. Contiguous does not make replacement lids or parts for lids for any of their water bottle products! I can only find uses for so many bottles with no lids. Where are all those now useless (as water bottles) bottles supposed to go? This should be a huge environmental concern! I don’t care if I have to pay for a new lid/parts - I do care about the complete waste of a non recyclable product. Get on the ball Contigo!

The first few days of using these cups were heavenly! They did not leak, easy to drink out of, easy to take apart and all parts were dishwasher safe -- major mom points. BUT my kiddos started complaining that the straws were not working the same as the first few days (they only drink milk or water in them). They had to suck on the straw very hard multiple times to get liquid out and then it was as if there was air coming out of the straw with the liquid. I unscrewed the straw and emptied the liquid still sitting on the bottom 1/2 of the straw and that helped for one sip but the problem returned with the second sip. I love these cups and use them until they become a choking hazard. It never fails that the silicone drink spout gets bitten and breaks. The handles also break off and the little loop that holds the straw breaks from taking them apart to clean them.Wish the drinking spout were more durable for little ones that chew.
