If that’s a pro? It’s not a con but it always seems unnecessary to me)- headband style is unique and comfortable. Allows for “shock absorbing” from quick head movement.- Strong build quality. But not too heavy- Dolby atmos ready (PC)CONS:- range is not great (plenty good for sitting in a room, but not as far as it claims)- no option to control the volume of the spoken alerts, just on or off- EQ selection doesn’t tell you the EQ setting name, you have to memorize the order if you want to choose a specific EQ- Doesn’t always reconnect after it disconnects. This isn’t 100% of the time, not sure what’s happening yet but worth noting.- USB C port is deep and narrow limiting the type of USB-C cable you can useOk, so let’s dive into some of these bullet points a bit deeper. First, the good, I really am impressed with the quality of this microphone, and like I said, I had a very old and cheap headset before, so my comparison is skewed, but my friends said I sounded so much better now. And there are plenty of video reviews out there that compare the mic to other headsets and there is a noticeable difference. In a pinch or low budget situation, this headset could easily be used for streaming or video conference calls etc.As mentioned, my old headset was very uncomfortable even for short gaming sessions. It would squeeze my head like a vice, but this headset is not only much less squeezing pressure, but also my ears fit comfortably in the cups and the cushions are soft and breathable.I actually found myself using this headset on my PC as well, even though I intended to only use it for PS4 gaming. It turned out to be a great headset for editing videos and audio or simply watching movies on my laptop while traveling. Since all you have to do is plug the USB stick into the PC and you’re off and running, it’s really easy to use the HS80 on multiple devices. I personally don’t have any other corsair items like a mouse or keyboard, but it’s my understanding that the icue app would control all these devices at once as well. I do have a corsair cooling system in my PC and the icue app did recognize that right away and gave me the option to change the lights, so I think it’s safe to assume all Corsair products with customization options would sync with the app.As far as using the headset with my PS4, there are a few cons to note, mostly that you don’t have control over your mic sensitivity on the headset, meaning you have to adjust this in the PS4 settings, AND to make it worse, the PS4 resets this setting to the default every time you reconnect the headset, so either be ok with the default setting, or be willing to go in and change that. The volume rocker on the headset is a physical wheel, not touch controls, which is great, especially for quick volume adjustments mid game and it doubles as the EQ selector. The mic also flips up out of the way complete with an automatic mute and changes colors to give you a visual cue that the mic is off. The audible cue “microphone off” can be disabled in the icue app if you prefer, so the color changing is really useful in that situation. The range is probably the most annoying negative for the HS80. It’s not like it’ll disconnect just sitting in the room, (unless you have some other radio wave interference issue going on) but if you quickly get up to grab a drink from the kitchen, and there’s a wall between you, it’s probably going to drop out. To be clear, in my house, that is only about 30 feet, maybe less, so the advertised “60 feet” is probably only in very ideal situations. If it does disconnect, in my limited testing so far at least, it won’t always reconnect. I would turn the headset off and on again and then it’s fine. But that’s annoying. That said, sometimes it reconnected on it’s own, usually if it was only disconnected for a short time. So more testing would need to be done to know for sure the range, but like any wireless connection, don’t expect to never have an issue with drop outs.Like I mentioned in the cons list, the USB port for charging is very narrow and deep, (see photos) so the cable you use for charging (if you don’t use the one provided) needs to be narrow and long as well. This isn’t terrible but it is annoying, I had a few cables that wouldn’t sit in the headset because it was too wide. One last note on Dolby Atmos because that’s another big brag from the headphones. First, yes, it really does playback Dolby Atmos, but keep in mind this is only on the PC after you download the appropriate app from the windows store, (free and small) and then some minor setting changes. But once activated it is a pretty solid Dolby Atmos playback device. I haven’t tested it in a lot of scenarios but even just watching some test videos with Atmos, I could tell it’s a good quality atmos for a headset. So is it worth it? The price is a bit steep but there are sales often, and I think we tend to be more critical of items the higher their price, but the HS80 does hold up for its price range. That said, I do think there may be a few others in the market that could be better if your needs are different, but if you’re looking for the best mic and an easy plug n play headset that fits comfortably for hours and has the battery to back it up, you can’t go wrong with the HS80. I’ll put it this way, what features the headset does have, it has really well. If there’s something else specific you’re looking for that you can’t live without, then go elsewhere, but if you need a good upgrade to your gaming and the features list checks all your boxes, then you won’t be upset with this product!

From there I could control the volume using the click/scroll wheel on the headset. When you first power them on, the mic boom lights up red, the Corsair logo on each ear cup lights up white and you know you are in business. When you pull the boom down to talk, the light changes from red to white. The very first time I used these was on a gaming session that lasted for a little over 5 hours on a Friday night with buddies around the country. We play regularly, we record videos and shorts for YouTube and have been testing different headsets for a while now, to see which ones work well, when being recorded. The first comments from my buddies were 'Man, you sound super clear this week' and 'I can hear you so clearly, did you get a new headset?', so I knew things were off to a good start! The omni directional mic was clearly working well, and the 'floating' headband design is one of the most comfortable I have ever used. The elastic strip across the head was so much more comfortable than having the headset resting on top of your head for 5+ hours. However, there is some weight to these headphones, a little heavier than some other brands I've used in the past, so please bear that in mind. You can configure these headphones further when hooking up to your computer using the accompanying Corsair Cue software. You can adjust the colors that are displayed in the Corsair logo and turn off the light on the mic boom, which I will admit did become a little distracting, as it was just in my peripheral sight when gaming. You can also set up the Dolby Atmos Spatial Audio. Anyone who loves their audio will appreciate the difference Dolby Atmos makes, and these headphones deliver nicely! After the gaming session, I took some time to listen to a few clips of what I know to be great Dolby Atmos content - my go-to is 'Ready Player One' - the sound track in that movie is epic, especially the racing scene near the beginning of the movie. Sounded superb, nice and clear, a good bass depth, and sound that felt like it was coming from all over the place. Incredibly immersive. And you are not limited to just the PS5 (even tho they appear to be designed to complement the PS5 in the white), they are compatible with the PS4, PC and Mac computers as well, so they are nice and versatile.Overall, after tweaking a couple of settings, these are a superb sounding, incredibly comfortable gaming headset, and I have no hesitation recommending them.

The iCue program has the adjustability to turn on and off Dolby Sound along with Stereo setting. The Equalizer has some basic presets but I always fine tune my equalizer listening to a few videos of myself playing FPS and Sim Racing games. The 7.1 surround shines white playing FPS games for myself, compared to my headphones that were almost 3 times the price, these are faster reacting, true directional sound and I could even hear the footsteps easier. The long wire USB setup usually means low volume but not with the Corsair HS80s, they are loud but safe all the way to 100%, they will not blow your ears out but get ready for some killer immersion while gaming and even movie watching. Music also sounds great, very clear, no muddy sound, just clean bass, does not sound like an 80s Caprice trunk in a Sheetz parking lot at 2am bumping Eminem, it sounds like you are at the studio listening to him sing it right next to you. Also, with iCue, there are some RGB settings you can change to make the logo match up in color with your other iCue devices, great for that streamer like myself that loves uniformity. You can adjust the mic sensitivity, make the mute button a different key assignment if you please and even adjust the brightness of your color changing logo.Comfort is a HUGE plus with these, memory foam ear pads that feel amazing on your ears, hours of use and not one time have I wanted to remove them. The ear pads breathe quite well which makes for a no ear sweat and enjoyable gaming experience. The strap is an adjustable and soft band, being adjustable via Velcro from under than main hard material band. Looks are not boring at all and the tuck away mic is a nice touch. Flip the mic up, it is off, flip it down, it is on, great for when your kids or spouse walks in the room.I am extremely happy with the Corsair HS80 RGB USB headphones, just wish their RGB stand did not cost almost as much, it would be a great addition to my already growing Corsair and iCue setup.Pros:Fit and ComfortLooksiCue compatibilityAmazing Sound7.1 DolbyWired and is long for great reachWorks with Xbox and PCMuch More!Cons:NOT A SINGLE ONE I CAN FIND!!!For the price, you will not be unhappy with this purchase, at sub $100, I do not think you can find a much better USB set of headphones and I have almost 20 pairs from years of testing and gaming, these would be my first choice to date.

Comfortable gaming headset with superb clarity!

The Corsair HS80 Wireless Gaming Headset have exceeded my expectations so far.

Corsair is Making my Ears Very Happy w/ the HS80s!

The Corsair HS80 RGB headphones with USB connection are now my favorite gaming headphones to date. I did not think these would beat my go to Gaming headphones but boy was I pleasantly surprised. The HS80s are a USB only connection but the best part, they work with iCue and the adjustable nature of these are great as I already utilize iCue for multiple other Corsair products. The HS80 is a 7.1 Dolby headset with massive 50mm drivers tuned for 20hz to 40khz (even though the human ear cannot hear much if anything over 20khz) and is Dolby Atmos ready.

Corsair nailed it with this headset

Corsair's HS80 RGB headset has 7.1 surround sound and Dolby Atmos audio. I love RGB anything but was a little disappointing when only the tiny little logo on the ear is the only part that's RGB. It'd be cool if the mic boom had a line of RGB going down the outside of it or a ring outlining the ear muff or something. It does have a small light on the end of the mic though. It definitely looks and feels like a premium quality headset. With the padded headband and aluminum swivel joints, these look stylish and seem to be very durable. The band that goes over the top of your head is really flexible and not too tight which is ideal for gaming for long periods of time and is also adjustable. I've had other headsets that actually cause my head to hurt because of that. I like the fact that the ear muffs swivel also. So if you wanted to listen for something outside of the game or whatever you're listening to it's easy by just adjusting it off of your ear instead of having to overstretch the headset sideways. The sound is really nice, I had no complaints when gaming and all who I played with could hear me perfectly with minimal background noise as well. It had a really nice bass and crisp clear highs. It charges with USB type C which is great for faster charging. It has a nice jog dial for volume on the ear instead of having to wonder if you're pushing the right button up or down for volume.I'd highly recommend these to others

Excellent Sound and Comfort

In the box is the headset, charging cord - USB-A to USB-C, wireless USB transmitter and an instruction manual (Quick Start Guide).First impression, after opening the box, I immediately noticed the ear cups. This is the first time that I have had this type of material, which feels like a wool cloth. I definitely love this because after long wear, they still feel soft and comfortable. The cups completely cover your ears and mold around my ears perfectly. When placed correctly, the headset can be worn for hours and you do not even feel them. Please note, it may take a few minutes to adjust right out of the box but the headset will be very comfortable and when properly placed, you won’t notice that the headset is there.Connectivity - This is something that is important to me because I have so many Bluetooth headphones and I constantly have to pair, unpair, change settings. After charging, I plugged in the wireless USB transmitter, there was a message at the bottom of my PC that the headphones were connected and that was it. Also, I would like to note that normally when I switch gaming headsets, I have to adjust the settings in my game but I am so happy to say that I didn’t have to go to the settings at all! There is also the option of making the headset wired by plugging in the charge cord. Just make sure you power off the headset before plugging in.Sound - The sound quality is great. I didn’t have to do much adjusting and there is a software that you can download for even more features. The software is called iCue and you are able to change the equalizer settings, adjust the microphone, update the product firmware and adjust the headset lights. I LOVE the microphone, pull down to talk, put up to mute. Simple as that. Another great thing, red for mute, white for speak. I also love the wheel on the back to adjust the volume. I normally play some games with family members and they stated that they could hear me clearly. I was extremely happy when the chat feature actually worked without me having to make sound adjustments.Battery Life - The battery life for the Bluetooth is a little uncertain at the moment because I charged them out of the box and I have been using them for a couple days and the indicator light is still green. All in all I give the headset a 5 out of 5. I am unable to find anything negatives to the headphones at this time. I highly recommend this product and definitely to my gaming friends and family.

Gaming Headphones w/o RGB Overload

It is one of the best and most tasteful implementations of RGB lighting I've seen to date.USE AND PERFORMANCEThe HS80's do a good job at their intended purpose. Thankfully, Corsair has integrated their headphones into their iCue software. The iCue software is Corsair's version of the Logitech G-Hub, Razer Synapse, etc. All of Corsair's peripherals can be controlled and configured via the iCue software.I love how the iCue software integrates with your system's bios and monitoring. Without any tedious tweaking, the iCue software allows you to monitor the systems' vitals in real time without any additional add-ons. My favorite feature is that you can configure the RGB lighting on nearly any of their iCue peripherals based on any one of the numerous parameters the iCue plug-ins monitor. I typically have the iCue software monitor CPU and GPU temps. As those temps climb, I have the iCue give me visible feedback by color based on their current temps. It is slick and works seamlessly without eating into a ton of the system's overhead. Any iCue peripheral can be programmed with this visual feedback or all of them combined, or any other number of lighting options. Each peripheral is treated separately and uniquely in the software, allowing for different lighting customizations and options. The iCue software also allows you to tailor the headphones sonically. While the effects are noticeable, the HS80's definitely play on the warm side. Regardless of the EQ setting, the headphones perform better in the lower octaves than the higher ones. While this isn't a huge pitfall playing FPS games, it does rear its ugly head during music and movies. I won't say they sound awful, far from it, but the HS80's do not have the upper frequency clarity that many of their competitors do. I tried numerous built-in EQ settings, manually adjusting the EQ settings, and finally just setting the EQ to flat, and I was never able to fully liven up the upper octaves. They are a "laid back" sounding set of headphones, geared toward what I would consider a single mission.NEGATIVESThe included USB-C cable is too short. Clocking in at only 6 feet, it didn't cut it for me. Someone with a PC at the far edge of desk or on the floor will immediately need at least a 10 foot USB-C cable to be comfortable. While I applaud the iCue software for its versatility and thoroughness, it all comes at a price. That price is space. The iCue software has now ballooned to almost one full gigabyte. That is a ridiculously large size. That is also just the installation file, not once it has been extracted and installed. Ugh.The HS80's are capable of reproducing audio at 24bits / 96kHz. However, the iCue software does not do an adequate job of allowing you to setting the audio quality or giving you feedback at what is playing. While I understand the audio quality is fully dependent on the source material, the iCue software only allows you to turn the surround sound on or off and I did not see any real way to go and fully optimize the surround sound. For that, I had to open the Windows Audio property app to fully tailor the sound. This should all be able to be accomplished in the iCue software. My JBL headphones allow me to do it within the app, even allowing me to enable my Dolby Atmos or DTS:X Headphone extensions within their app. An oversight on Corsair's part.FINAL THOUGHTSIf I needed a set of headphones geared specifically for gaming, these HS80's are a worthy consideration. Game playback is first rate and the included microphone picks up voices clearly and intelligibly without transmitting every single background noise it can hear. The 50mm drivers do an awesome job at reproducing the lower octaves, even if they give up detail and clarity in the upper frequencies. Games sound awesome on the HS80's. However, for me, headphones needed to be able fulfill different missions. They not only have to excel at games, they have to be great at movies and music too. In that regard, the HS80's come up short in my book. I will give them 4 stars because of the awesome gaming prowess, but only 3 stars for music and movies.Recommended.

Good headset, buggy app.

The Corsair HS80 Headset has some quality features but it’s companied by a faulty app.The build quality on the headset definitely looks and feels premium. The hinges on the earpieces are made up of metal, so you won’t have to worry about them breaking off. The mic is built into the left earpiece and does not detach. Although, you can move it all the way up, this also auto mutes the mic when in the up position. The mic is a long piece of flexible rubber that’s not very stiff at all, it doesn’t do a good job at holding an exact position. The earcups are made of a sued-like material, that does a good job at both providing comfort and blocking out external noise. There is a manual volume nob on the left ear, as well as a mute mic button…I have no idea why they decided to add a mute mic button, when all you have to do is raise the microphone, which acts as its own mute button… The headset connects to your PC via USB type B cable and the cable is built into the left earpiece, so it can’t be removed. I would have liked for Corsair to have made a detachable cable, this would have been nice in case I run out of USB B ports, and I need to attach it io a USB-C port. Not to mention, many new computers only have USB-C ports, so it makes them have to buy an extra adapter in order to use it.The sound quality on the HS80 is good. There is plenty of bass and there is a good distinguish between highs and lows. The sound is easy to hear and very smooth, not ear piercing like many headphones I’ve tried in the past. The bass in the headphone is incredible, its so effected that it almost tricks your brain into thinking your whole body is rumbling. The headset is Dolby 7.1 surround compatible, but only with the Corsair app installed, otherwise you can use Windows Sonic for headphones. With the Corsair app you can adjust the EQ of the headset, you can choose from an assorted number of presets, or you can create your own custom settings. There is also a toggle that lets you choose between stereo of Dolby Surround. As for the mic in the headset, the people on the other end didn’t seem to have any problems hearing me at all, so from what I can tell it sounds good. The Corsair App could really use an update. This is the app you use need to use if you want to change your lighting, custom controls, volume settings etc. Not just for headsets, but for all types of Corsair devices including mice, keyboards, lighting towers etc. In my experience the app hasn’t worked very well, it would constantly freeze, not apply the correct lighting effects, of just randomly stop working all together.Overall, the HS80 is a solid gaming headset. The level of comfort is great, I was able to use it for long gaming sessions without any pain or irritations. The build quality is top notch, and the sound is good. The downside to the headset is the cable isn’t detachable, so it forces you to use a USB B. Having to use the buggy Corsair app to enable Dolby surround is another downside, it makes me think this is just a software feature and not actually a headphone feature…Otherwise, this is a stellar gaming headset and I would recommend it to gamers.

Great Sound that Doesn't Break the Bank

I own and love the wireless version of these gaming cans and wanted to see how the wired version compares on my gaming PC. I'm happy to report that the USB wired version sound just as good with the same tonal qualities of the wireless version. This is important to me because with just a little tweaking these are equally adept at music as they are for gaming, making them a goo all-around value. The app also allows for control of the RGB (which, sadly, is just the Corsair logo, don't expect anything too flashy) and to switch from stereo to Dolby Surround. The Dolby surround effect is awesome with games and movies! When gaming the environment becomes more immersive and it's easier to pinpoint where hostile fire is coming from. Overall sound leans toward a warmer, bass heavy sound perfect for gaming and movies. As I mentioned earlier, using the EQ to coax out some of the higher end makes music sound very good too. If you switch them into the Dolby surround mode music takes on a subtle feel of being all around you rather than in front of you.Mic quality is excellent. The iCue app allows you to tweak the mic levels. I've used these for work meetings in a pinch when my "business" headset needed to be recharged and there were no complaints about mic quality.Comfort is very good. Clamping force is comfortable and the headsets have a self-adjusting hammock type of headband that allows the earcups to sit in just the right place. The earcups are large and are the around-ear type and made of a velvet-like material. They do get hot after a while. Also, the earcups on my wireless HS80s fell apart after a few months, so I don't know how long these will hold out. Replacing them is very easy, and there are third-party replacements available in other materials. The cable length is good if you sit near your PC. I'm happy it's not long enough to get tangled up in my gaming chair. The cable is not replaceable but seems to be very sturdy and should last in the long-run if not abused. In fact, the whole headset is very sturdy and should travel well with a gaming laptop in a padded bag without breaking. These are highly recommended for PC gaming and all-around media use, especially if you want something portable to pair with a gaming laptop.

Nice Looks, Mediocre Fit and Audio Quality
16 June 2022

I've used a few different gaming headsets from Logitech, Alienware, and Razer, but this is my first experience with a Corsair headset. The HS80 seems like a great value with built-in RGB and a premium build. As nice as the headset looks, it doesn't seem to fit my head very well and has sub-par audio quality.=== PROS ===- The headset feels very premium. The top of the headband is a soft-touch plastic, while the headband that touches your head is a soft, plush leather-like material. The earcups are very well padded and are a nice, soft cloth fabric. There is a nice weight to the headset that makes it feel substantial and not like cheap plastic.- The earcup openings are quite large and should fit most sizes of ears.- The microphone is attached to the left earcup and is very easy to flip up or down as needed. The microphone mutes itself as soon as you flip it up, and a red LED on the tip of the microphone will turn on to let you know that it is muted. Microphone quality is excellent with minimal background noise and crisp vocals. This is probably the best microphone quality I've heard from any gaming headset I've used.- The USB cord is plenty long (roughly 6 feet), though it cannot be detached from the headset (which would make it easier to travel with).- The iCUE software is straightforward and makes it easy to customize the RGB lighting on both earcups. The RGB lighting is subtle and not over-the-top. The Corsair logos and the microphone tip are the only LEDs on the headset.- The headset uses a "floating headband" design which means that it adjusts to your head immediately when you put it on your head. No manual adjustments are required.=== CONS ===- The headset is comfortable, but the earcups do not seem to fit snugly around my ears or fully rest against my head. The bottoms of the earcups protrude out ever so slightly right above my jaw, failing to make a tight seal and letting in ambient noise. Maybe it's just the shape of my head, but I haven't had this problem with any other gaming headsets or headphones. It's not a deal-breaker, but you might want to try this headset on in a store before you purchase.- The microphone is not removable. I sometimes go days without needing to use a microphone, so it would be nice to be able to detach it as needed.- The volume and microphone mute controls are awkwardly placed on the back of the left earcup. I would prefer to have these controls built in to the USB cable, which would be more easily accessible.- To me, the audio quality of this headset is mediocre at best. Everything sounds very distant, muted, and muffled compared to my Alienware AW510H headset. They get plenty loud and have pretty good performance in low frequencies/bass response, but vocals, music, and in-game dialogue just sound very muddy to me. I've tried tinkering with the equalizer in iCUE and noticed some minimal improvements. Turning on "Dolby Atmos for Headphones" in Windows audio settings also seems to help. But as soon as I switch back to my Alienware headset, I can immediately tell how much crisper and clearer they sound.=== OVERALL ===The Corsair HS80 certainly earns the "premium" label in terms of looks and build quality. Its RGB lighting effects are tasteful and easy to customize through Corsair's iCUE software. The microphone is easily the best I've ever used in any gaming headset. I just wish that I could slightly adjust the fit so that the earcups created a full seal around my ears. As it stands, there are no adjustments whatsoever that can be made to the fit of this headset. If you've had issues with other headsets fitting your head, I would advise that you head to your local store to try on the HS80 before purchasing. Audio quality seems just OK to me, though this will come down to personal preference and the amount of time you have to tinker with the equalizer settings.

Perfect Gaming Headset

I was able to hear the loud boom of explosions, clear cut conversations through chat, the rumble of car engines, very noticeable footsteps, and impressive directional awareness. Although impressive out of the box, I connected my headset to my PC which downloads the iCue software where I was able to customize audio eq settings. This allowed me to quickly switch between wanting to be able to understand speech clearer or be able to distinguish enemy footsteps from my own. This headset also has the capability of using Dolby Atmos 3D audio which I have tried before and it is always a fantastic feature to have at your disposal. As soon as I was connected, I was nearly fully immersed in the game. I will also point out that having a wired connection to the PC improves audio quality in a noticeable way and I would recommend it fully.Quality: I haven't dropped the headset or accidentally sat on them but the headset definitely has a premium feel despite the fact that the majority of the material is plastic. The buttons, volume wheel, and mic all feel solid. I think I'll be able to get a lot of use out of this headset but only time will tell. I really like the volume wheel because of how clicky it is. Every scroll has a distinct click as if I was scrolling on a mouse.Mic Performance: I never had any issues with communicating online with this mic. In fact, I was asked multiple times if I had gotten a new mic because I didn't sound tinny anymore. It does a great job at focusing on my voice and not the noise around me. Some sound will leak through such as loud dog barks but for the most part it picks up my voice clearly.Wireless Connection: It is always a bonus to game wirelessly. The wireless connection is without a doubt seamless. I never noticed any lag even when I was in different room! I believe it is rated for 60ft without any obstructions and although I didn't test the length, I was able to get up and grab a snack from the Kitchen without losing connection to my game. I was still able to communicate clearly with my friends over chat. Corsair also advertises SlipStream which allows you to connect to one single receiver with other Corsair products with this feature which is a huge bonus if you plan on getting multiple wireless corsair devices like a mouse and keyboard.I cannot say enough positive things about this headset. I really enjoy gaming on them and I really hope they last me a long time.
