There are controls on top of the keyboard to toggle the lights. Likewise there is software available to download should you want further customization. And you are not limited to the lights but also you are able to program macros for this keyboard if you use this software. One thing I like about his keyboard is that it doesn’t automatically download the software unlike competing brands.Do note this keyboard comes in various Cherry MX configurations namely Cherry MX Speed, MX Red, MX Blue and MX Silent. And there is nothing on the box that indicates which keyboard type you have. You have to remove a keycap and check the exposed keyswitch. My unit "seems" to be the Cherry Silent MX meaning this is suited for gaming and timing. And while I am no expert on keyboards, the unit I have is more quite than my son’s other branded keyboard but still louder compared to laptop keyboards.Also notice on top of the keyboard are multimedia controls and even a scroll bar for volume. These controls can also be configured via software. Again I am a casual user/gamer so I prefer not to. But to emphasize the other strengths of this keyboard, there is a toggle switch to disable macros and even the lights. This is beneficial for serious gamers who go on competing so as to level the playing field.Overall this is a very capable keyboard and IMO worth its price. I would definitely recommend this if you are in the market for a gaming keyboard.

If you pay attention to only use as much pressure as you actually need it can be fairly quiet (at least by mechanical standards) but if you're using to typing with blues, browns, or pretty much any other key that features a tactile bump I suspect you're going to be reflexively hammering on the keys and producing a bit of a racket every time one bottoms out. I also suspect it'll be quite a while before I've trained myself out of the tendency to push down a little too hard on my home row keys while resting between sentences.As far as software goes, you will need to make sure you've got the latest version of version 4 of iCUE before you can access any of the advanced features included on the keyboard. I'll admit I wasted about an hour when I first plugged the keyboard in before I realized that version 3 of the application will not automatically update. Pretty much everything you'd expect is there: per-key RGB lighting, firmware updates, and the ability to store lighting profiles and key assignments to the hardware so that you don't need to worry about your settings following you between devices.Before you decide this is the keyboard for you, though, there are a few things you should probably be aware of. First: this is a pretty slimmed down package. Unlike some of Corsair's other offerings you are not going to be getting a built in wrist rest, key puller, or alternate keycaps for FPS/MOBA clusters. Second: it is amazingly twitchy by design. This is definitely something you should be looking at for gaming first and typing second, as I don't think most are going to be too satisfied by how easy it is to insert a typo or random string of A's every time they pause to read over what they just wrote. If these sound like issues I think you would probably be a lot happier with one of the conventional mechanical offerings from Corsair, which are a lot better balanced for day-to-day use. If cutting down input lag is all you're after though, you're not going to do much better than this.

I think this is only going to be a problem during non-gaming situations, or maybe you are normally light with your fingers. I did find that adding a keyboard wrist rest pad made things a lot better and I wasn’t accidentally pushing down keys anymore. It doesn’t come with one in the box, so you’ll have to buy it separately. Gaming with the K70 with the OPX switches makes gaming feel seamless; there was never a question if a key I hit registered to perform an action on any game. As I type this review on the K70, I’ve streamed the semicolon across the page numerous times.Using Corsair's iCUE software, you can create macros and customize lighting as with the other Corsair keyboard models. Once you have established those settings, you can “lock” those settings with a simple switch on the keyboard; this will allow you to take your K70 with you wherever you go and preserve those settings, even if you plug into another computer. As long as it’s in a locked state, nothing can change its settings after the fact. Then you can bring your keyboard with you wherever your travels take you (and the cable is detachable, too). It kind of reminds me a lot about how I used to bring my custom Xbox controller to a friends’ house; I had it all dialed in with my preferences, and this keyboard is no different. And with its TKL form factor, it’s the perfect balance of size and portability.

I have had access to a lot of gaming keyboards over the years both purchased and provided for review and this keyboard has exceeded all of them. The expensive competitor version uses some scissor springs in the big keys like shift, enter, tab, space bar that make the key press on those buttons on inconsistent. Even more frustrating was the feel was different among keyboards on the same SKU. I finally settled on a keyboard that didn’t feel as sticky on the SHIFT key. This K70 TKL had none of these issues, every key feels the same and the key travel is also deeper.+ The RGB was brighter since this was wired and it uses USB-C. Competitor still uses micro-USB which is a joke. Corsair moved all their peripherals to USB-A to USB-C years ago which makes connecting and charging their devices much cleaner and easier. Also, Corsair iCUE has improved greatly and I already use it for my case fans and AIO cooler. Also since these are linear optical switches, you can adjust actuation point via software.+ These switches are not as loud as springy blue type switches or even tactile/tooth clicky switches, but if you are a fast and avid typer they do make quite a bit more noise than their competitors with shorter keystrokes, as you bottom out the key it makes a decent amount of noise.In summary this is easily the best feeling keycap and switch I have ever used on a keyboard. The only negatives compared to what I am using from their major competitor is a wireless functionality and also BT connectivity which is the main reason I use it, for my work laptop when I work at home. If Corsair can step it up on the next K70 wireless they really got a winning product.Side note, the only difference I saw with previous K70 TKL was the switches, they changed from Cherry MX to Corsair OPX, but this version does not have key cap removers or extra key caps. It only comes with the braided USB-C cable.
It's Corsair, what can I say. Excellent keyboard. I use it extensively for gaming only. I was looking for a Ten Keyless design to free up some space on my desk and still have the audio functions I had on my full size HP Omen Keyboard. This fit the bill. Didn't really want to go with a 60% KB and lose that functionality. I later rebuilt my PC using Corsair parts as well, and the iCue software now controls all my RGB, including this keyboard. This keyboard is significantly quieter than my HP, which had clicky mechanical switches. Great product all around. Has a built in tournament switch which changes RGB to a static mode and disables accidental macros in a competitive situation if that's your thing. The build quality and sturdiness of this keyboard are what I have come to expect from Corsairs keyboards. The Keyboard has very little flex and the keys are all very good feeling and nicely textured. If you’re looking for a super smooth typing experience, I don’t think I have used anything much smoother than these keys in the mass market space, better even than MX Reds which is what I am used to when it comes to linear switches. The other nice thing is the backlighting is very even across the whole board which I have seen be an issue in other RGB keyboards I’ve used in the past when you set the whole thing to one color. It took me a while to figure out why the keyboard would not even show in the iCUE software, the software acted like it was up to date but, in the end, I had to totally uninstall it and reinstall the current version. Most people probably won’t have that issue but if you plug your keyboard in and iCUE acts like it’s not there check that first.The only other thing that may or may not be an issue is when I say the keys are very smooth, I mean they are so smooth that if your not use to typing on it you will likely have many mistypes as the keys are very “light” to the press and tend to be sensitive if your heavy handed and brush the key next to the one your actually typing. After a few days this seems to be less of an issue now that I’m use to the board but if that kind of thing bothers you, you might want to keep it in mind.Otherwise, this keyboard is great once I ironed out the few minor issues I personally had with it, it’s very nice to type on and response times are great no worry of missed typing events at all and it’s somewhat quieter than normal MX Cherry switches I’ve used in the past.

The MX Red Cherry optical keys provide very fast response and processing speed. I barely have to tap the keys for response which means very rapid firing in certain games. I love the fact that I don't have to jam the keys down to get what i want. For typing this keyboard is very unforgiving with how sensitive it is and you will definitely see more mistakes with word processing if you are not very proficient with typing. The MX Red Cherry optical keys provide very fast response and processing speed. I barely have to tap the keys for response which means very rapid firing in certain games. I love the fact that I don't have to jam the keys down to get what i want. For typing this keyboard is very unforgiving with how sensitive it is and you will definitely see more mistakes with word processing if you are not very proficient with typing. The key texture feels very nice, however there is no indicator/raised point to determine WSAD which is very minor "eh". The keyboard is also very quiet compared to my last mechanical keyboard. I can do some hardcore keystrokes without alerting the entire house.The RGB and macro effects are very nice paired with the ICUE. There is 8mb onboard storage to create different profiles that are saved even if you take the keyboard on the go. I didn't go deep into all the different options of ICUE software because I just wanted to keep tapping away on games and such. I set a pattern or profile that suited my desktop theme and of I went. As for how mobile this keyboard is, it has a decent small footprint without the 10 key, but still enough to feel like full keyboard. The removable USB-C is actually more convenient than I first anticipated as i can just disconnect the cable from the keyboard leaving it in place on the PC and take the board along with me and laptop using another cable.I especially love the dedicated media buttons and volume roll control. This makes things so much easier when using with my gaming laptop not having to use the laptop controls. There is a tournament lock button to turn the RGB to one solid color for less distraction. Nice feature, but I am not a heavy tournament gamer and rarely use this.Only minus I could probably think of thus far of this keyboard is the overall height of the keyboard and the raised keys. It really needs wrist support and having the keys raised a little more than usual allows light refraction a little bit from the RGB. Nothing to cry about though because this keyboard is above par on so many other aspects. I do wish there was more instruction on how to setup the macros and RGB more on unboxing.

I'm not sure what I think of them as while the travel seems somewhat long, actuation is very short. A keypress registers at the top of its travel, making for very quick and light actuation. The performance is more than acceptable, but the "feel" may be loved by some and not so much by others. One caveat is that the switches are not hot-swappable, but that's not unreasonable by any means at the K70's pricepoint. Doubleshot PBT keycaps are used and they feel very solid and thicker than most keycaps, and offer more resistance to wearing out.The K70 features up to an 8000Hz polling rate -- how many times the computer checks for key inputs. Most keyboards offer 1000Hz, but the actual benefits of these features is arguable. In order to set it greater than 1000Hz, you'll need to install Corsair's iCue software, which will also give you additional RGB customization features. Keep in mind this will also use more CPU resources to attain higher polling rates, not to mention the overhead the software will add. RGB does not require the iCue software; the K70 This has full RGB backlighting with individually lit keys. You can change the built-in lighting effects by pressing Fn and cycling through the numbers row.In conclusion, I found that the Corsair K70 RGB TKL is a very good gaming keyboard. The Cherry MX Speed switches are very light and responsive. Its latency is also very low for a responsive gaming experience. All keys are macro-programmable, it has full RGB lighting, and it's very well-made.
