Men Costa Del Mar Fantail Sunglasses Gray

First let me say that I have been a huge fan of Costa Del Mar sunglasses and apparel for a long time. I have recently had the worst experience though. I always thought that I paid $300 for these glasses because the company was so good and easy to work with. Admittedly I have never experienced an issue until my last pair. (Which will be my 2nd pair of the same exact glasses for my husband, and the 5th pair that we have bought as a couple). We had these glasses about a week and my husband told me that there was a discoloration on the left lens, but I was never able to see it. Sure enough he had them IN THE CASE IT CAME WITH, in the vehicle and the glass cracked. When I tried to get them to replace the lens they said it was OUR fault!! I could not be more pleased with the Fantails Costa makes! I had a pair for approximately 3 years (the 480g) that coincidently fell off while playing baseball with my son and broke. Prior to purchasing my first pair of Fantails, I spent months researching to find the sunglasses that would be right for me. I have tried several different sunglasses over the years while playing baseball (Oakley included) and was never satisfied with the fit, clarity, and durability. I purchased a new pair of Fantails (the blackout edition) that were 580g, and again Costa didn’t fail to disappoint. They arrived earlier than anticipated, and there is a difference between the 480’s and 580’s. These are great for daily use, but especially useful during long days on the water! I could not be happier with my purchase. Costa has a customer for life in me! Now if only I would’ve won that Costa boat sweepstakes, I could rep more than just their amazing sunglasses! Fantastic glasses, but falling apart in 18 mo

The optical quality of these glasses is amazing, especially on the water. They are also great for driving, though there are some slight image artifacts created by certain reflections off of vehicles. I still give them 5 starts for all-around image quality, though. Unfortunately, my pair was falling apart after less than 18 months. The silicone nose piece fell off first, and then the silicone parts of the ear pieces started coming off. Paint is peeling off the frame (I have the matte black frame). I take good care of my stuff, and I wear these glasses for driving and going to theme park-it's not like I'm a commercial fisherman or wearing them on an oil rig. I don't even wear them in the pool. GREAT Warranty - Costa for life

I had an 8 year old pair of Costas that the rubber had stretched and fallen off. Sent some pictures to Costa customer service and was told they were covered under the lifetime warranty. Sent the old pair back and, since my model was not available anymore, I was able to pick from a wide selection of other options. Chose the Fantail and love them. I will only buy Costa from now on due to my excellent experience!

OK.... This could get long but heres my storyI wanted a made in usa sunglasses for my Florida fishing excursion that would take me to Alaska and also double as great everyday pheasant hunting glasses in my home state of South Dakota. I'm an example of the buy once cry once theory and made the purchase. My son also bought some costas that have the same qualities and deficiencys as mine.Lets get to the great things these glasses have.... They are lightweight and you don't even notice you are wearing them. The lenses are great..... durable and have clarity and all that is advertised of them. But there are definitely some sad notes. They fog so easy it is really annoying. I noticed this in other reviews also.... so evidently there is an issue.After wearing them ... MoreOK.... Today the nosepiece finally departed from the frame. I mentioned this to my son and his(which were a different model) were doing the same.So I figured lets send them in to get repaired. Well not so fast Chico..... The online form that is needed to get a service order started is like applying for a house mortgage. I filled out the form entirely. Wow, now its wait and see if Costa even wants to fix them.So my review is a 3 star for performance with a fogging issue but for the 200 smackers I paid I figured for a Made In USA product I would get a product that is fully supported by the manufacture. usually I strike it rich with Made In Usa products but I might have hit a loser here

Love the clarity and color

After recent cataract surgery I decided to opt for some really good sunglasses, not for UV eye protection, but because I wouldn't need to wear glasses any more and wanted a good pair of sunglasses to be able to see in the water better while fishing. I had been in Florida this winter and our fishing guide was explaining how the redfish were separated from each other in the school we were following. Although I had decent polaroid sunglasses on I couldn't see the separation, even though I could see the school. I asked the guide what brand of sunglasses he had on. Costa Del Mar. Fantail was perfect for what I was looking for.I've been on the water with them, and done some hikes with them, and what I've found is that the color of what you are seeing is so natural looking, that you forget you have them on. Great sunglasses and I can see into the water very well. Fishing opener in northern Wisconsin last weekend was great, as I could easily see the white tip on the tail of walleyes well down in the water as we reeled them in.You'll love these. I'd recommend the Fantail with the green mirrored lens for fishing. Fantastic sunglasses and well worth the price. I'll be using them regularly for driving, but am most looking forward to a fishing trip in Canada in June where I'll be able to see Musky follows much better...and the walleyes too.You won't regret buying these. They are the real deal.

Over hyped brand

Received pair of 580G Green lenses Saltbreaks as gift. If they were good optics, Id overlook the hefty weight. First use was during partly overcast conditions. With the sun at my back, even the slightest reflections off white caps and occasional metallic objects caused glare and eye discomfort. I know Costas web site states the green for shallow water conditions etc, but IMO its not well suited as Im moving from site to site and glaring reflections take away from overall comfort..and they are heavy. Exchanged for these. The 400G are lighter but not by much. The blue lenses have less glare. Not much oil/smudge treatment so constant cleaning is needed. Im grabbing my Maui Jims or Revos out the door instead.

Stunning clarity, but with one major flaw (for me)

I was very excited to get these glasses. I ended up getting the 580g lenses, silver mirror front with a copper primary color. The glasses fit my face very comfortably, they aren't too heavy and didn't put pressure on my ears, even with prolonged use. I use them for sight fishing river salmon and I am very happy with their clarity and ability to cut through the water and reduce glare. Overall, I am very happy with my choice. The only reason I am not giving 5 stars is due to the fact that these glasses fog up on me, even when I am at rest. I wouldn't consider myself a heavy breather, but on the way to my first outing with them, they began to fog in my truck. I wiped them down with the supplied microfiber cloth, and the fog returned again and again. I guess this isn't ... MoreI was very excited to get these glasses. Very dissatisfied with warranty

Purchased two years ago thinking I was buying the best quality sunglasses with glass lenses. Choose the Fantail 580G Amber with blue mirror lens with silver frame. These best suited my fishing needs. In less than a year the rubber on the ear piece came loose. Things sometimes happen. Costa replaced these, however they no longer offered the silver frame in the Fantail. Went with gray frame, no big deal for me. I purchased for the lenses. The problem, in less than a year the nose piece rubber came loose. Contacted Costa, they would replace with one of five pair of Fantail glasses. Four of which had plastic lenses. The pair was glass lenses but offered only in gray silver mirror lens. Waited for these years

I put off buying these to see if I had enough money in my flex spending account at year-end. I finally decided to bite the bullet and quit waiting and I singleqoute m glad I did. I am loving these sunglasses, which are the first prescription pair I singleqoute ve purchased. I hope to enjoy them for years to come.The only thing I question is that the cleaning and storage instructions reference a microfiber bag. My glasses came with a case and microfiber cloth. Wish I had the case and bag, too!
