Bad hinges

I received a pair of Reeftons towards the end of last year. I loved the looks and fit of the glasses, but over time I noticed the hinges started getting loose and floppy. After ~6-8 months, the hinge popped out if the frame and became so loose that it wouldn't stay in at all. I filed an insurance claim and costa was awesome enough to send me a brand new pair free of charge. I have had this second pair for less than 6 months and now have the same problem again. The ear piece and hinge popped out from opening them today and they feel like they're being held together by just a thread of plastic. My previous pair of Costas lasted 8 years and never had any issues with the hinges. I'm very disappointed in the quality of this model.

Best sunnies on the market. Crap on all spotters and tonic and mako on weight alone. Clearest lenses you’ll ever look through. My last pair lasted me over 10 years and are still going, and they spent 8 of those years as my work pair on a pro coral trout boat. You will never wear out the polarisation as it’s been layed between two sheets of crystal clear glass.

Glasses 4 stars, customer service 1 star.

I really liked these for the first year. Then the rubber on the legs started coming off. I tried glueing them back with several different adhesives. None of them held more than a week. I requested warranty, nope. I even tried “buying” new legs but they won’t sell them to me. I think I have figured out a solution I used some electrical shrink tubing. It is working so far. Customer service screwed the pooch on this. I will be going back to Maui Jim or I might try Oakley.

Great frames, TRASH CUSTOMER SERVICE
27 August 2021

Frames are awesome! Lens are awesome, CUSTOMER SERVICE SUCKS!!! Long time Costa customer here, gonna move my business elsewhere after this purchase. I ordered these with Rx lenses, got an email the next day that they were ready. A week and a half later I tried to call, you can’t talk to anyone there now, only chat. Agent disconnected twice for no reason. Finally got to talk about it and they told me that my order had been ready for 10 days and they didn’t know why it hadn’t shipped. I did pay extra for expedited shipping, they offered to give me 20% off if I wanted to buy another pair but couldn’t offer anything on this purchase. Costa was a great brand until they were bought by Luxxottica. Now they’re just another “brand”. Very sad for such a great company with ... MoreFrames are awesome! Great glasses...BUT....
14 June 2021

First purchase of Costa Sunglasses. Have given me great service for 3 years. The small rubber earstrips that line the lower frame and rest on your ears have separated from the frames. Great opportunity to see how well Costa stands behind their product. The warranty process is a little time consuming (take 6 Photos, upload receipt, track down model #) Nonetheless, I am hoping that they stand by their product. Otherwise....Just the perfect Sunglass for an active fresh and saltwater fisherman!

Needs an adjustable nose piece
29 March 2023

The lens are second to none and they are comfortable. At the end of the day though I will be selling the pair I purchased. These really need an adjustable nose piece. They sit up high on my face so maybe my nose is too broad but most people I see wearing these something just looks off. I ended up buying a pair of Hurley sunglasses for about 30% of the price as these. The lens aren't as good as these but they are good enough and fit my face alot better.

Nice coverage but they need ventilation
12 June 2022

I typically wear the Brine model which is tiny compared to the Reeftons. What I love is the spring hinges, and the fact they are like a windshield on your face. I can rarely catch a glimpse of frame. What I don’t like is the nose bridge area when extremely humid or if you are sweating tend to fog up. It’s a small issue, but an aggravation when it happens. I suspect they will be best for cooler weather fishing.

One arm fell off sunglasses
13 July 2021

My sunglasses arrived in a timely manner. After wearing them just a couple of times, one of the arms fell off. I got on your website to start the replacement process and found it to be rather tedious and difficult. I did finally get through that process successfully. Following that, I got an email that the glasses with the lens color I wanted were no longer available, so I had to choose from other options to receive my replacement. Overall, it wasn't a great experience. I like your sunglasses though.

Reefton Repair
13 August 2022

I had my reefton’s for 2 years. They were an awesome pair of shades and no complaints. The lenses eventually got scratched and the frame hinge broke all on my own accord. I went through Costa’s repair program expecting to pay something for the repair. I wasn’t charged for shipping or anything AND I was given a brand new pair instead of my old repaired glasses. Turnaround was within about 1.5 weeks and I couldn’t be more satisfied. Entire experience was fantastic! Kudos to Costa and they’ll definitely have my future business!

Very comfortable!

1st the bad - Non of the frame selections for Reefton's come in a gloss finish, only matte. The matte finish makes the glasses look cheap, which they are not, especially on the Tortoise style. Their Standard glossy Tortoise is majorly better looking than the Retro Tortoise. The Green Mirror 580G doesn't look anything like the product images they have on their site. Not even close. It's more of a blue to green mixture swishy mixture. Not nearly as attractive as the Blue Mirror 580G's.2nd the good - Exceptionally comfortable thanks to the double hinged frames on my wide noggin. I got the Green Mirror Glass on this pair because I have the blue Mirror glass on my Corbina's and unless it's blazingly bright out it's harder so see things with the Blue. Like the control screen in my truck as an example. It's not the polarization doing this just straight up light transmission. The Green 580G's are much better in lower light situations. Same goes for fishing at dusk. Way harder to see everything with the Blue 580G. But the Green 580G is perfect in those conditions.
