Had these for several years of very light use. Love the glasses - best lenses ever (glass)... BUT the rubber along the nose bridge and bottom of the frame on the cheeks totally separated. They were not left in a hot car. Got in touch with Costa hoping that they could repair them, but they would only replace them. They offered free replacement of any pair I wanted, which is great, but they no longer carry the ones I really liked. Pretty good service but really disappointed about the delamination problem. Also - wish I could reach their service/warranty group by phone, but the only option offered is chat. Service and response is good, but I prefer to speak with a representative.

I just got my new Saltbreaks yesterday, and I'm psyched! I've had a pair of regular Man'o'wars for a few years now, but my vision was getting to the point where I needed prescription lenses. I love my Man'o'wars, but they don't make them anymore, so getting them with prescription lenses was out of the question. My next problem was finding a dealer in my area that could do prescription. A couple weeks ago, an eye doctor in the area became a new Costa dealer. I was there the first day they put out their display case, and I ordered my Saltbreaks the same day. I was their first Costa Customer! I'm very pleased with my glasses, which have the same lenses as my old ones, but now everything is in focus. I got them in time to take on a canoeing/fishing trip to Northern Minnesota.

I'm a commercial fisherman so I'm constantly on the water fishing. I've tried many different types of sunglasses but nothing compares to my Costa Saltbreak sunglasses. I custom ordered mine from Costa with the green mirror glass lenses and couldn't be happier. The clarity is amazing being able to actually see the fish in the water amongst a lot of other things you can't see with other glasses. Not to mention they're extremely tough glasses and very scratch resistant. Yes they are expensive glasses but they are worth every penny and I'll never buy any other brand besides Costa.

I have been wearing Costa’s for probably close to twenty years now. My first pair (can’t remember the model) came with green mirror 580g lenses and made me a Costa wearer for life. For the last eight years I have been wearing shiny black Fathoms with the silver mirror 580g lenses. The only issue (?) is the frames have started to de-laminate but really, after eight years of wearing them on an almost daily basis, I don’t think that’s totally unexpected.I decided it was time for a new pair and ordered the Saltbreak inmatte black with the green mirrored 580g lenses. They arrived last weekand, as in the past, the glasses are amazing. They arrived last weekand, as in the past, the glasses are amazing. The lenses are slightly bigger than the Fathoms but the arms hug my head so there seems to be less chance of the glasses falling off my face when bending over. The green mirror 580g lenses provide so much contrast that, as has been said in previous reviews, everything seems to be in “3D” and the polarization is second to none.I’m hoping that these new glasses will be as durable as my previous pair but only time will tell.Once again Costa have proven themselves to be the best sunglasses out there.
I’ve always worn costa sunglasses in order to see underwater while fishing. My last pair of Costa’s we’re 400 plastic and we’re great, but I was sold on getting 580 glass lenses after trying out 580g’s from a buddy. Wow! The difference in glare reduction is immense. They’re also useful while driving in heavy rain (the type of rain where you can’t see anything past 10 yards ahead). By cutting through the glare reflected off the rain’s water droplets, the glasses allow me to see at least twice as far; which is a literal life saver considering I drive a lightweight 2 door Jeep that will slide on wet roads when attempting to stop at speeds faster than grandma’s stairlift.Would recommend 580 glass
I'm very particular about sunglasses. I'm a kayak instructor/guide and spend a lot of time on the water. Because of this, I get sunlight from above, but also from below as it reflects off the water. I can't function on the water on a sunny day without polarized sunglasses. They are a piece of mandatory equipment for my job. I've used Sunglasses by all the major companies, and they all work (some better than others), but none of them were "perfect."Costa, however, ARE perfect! Optical grade, Polarized, GLASS LENSES (more scratch resistant than polycarbonate) that also block way more light waves than standard (580nm rather than 350nm). Their clarity and color enhancement because of this, is light years beyond that of other sunglasses. This is a huge deal! After a 12 ... MoreI'm very particular about sunglasses. Their clarity and color enhancement because of this, is light years beyond that of other sunglasses. This is a huge deal! After a 12 hour day on the water in sunny conditions, my eyes don't feel fatigued after wearing Costas. I can also see further into the water with Costas than I can with other polarized sunglasses. This is important for fishing, but for kayaking, being able to see potential snags/rocks/debris that may stop your forward motion or possibly entrap/injure you is a big improvement on safety! The frames are also comfortable and well built. No more rusted/corroded metal hinges from heavy use in saltwater! They don't slide down my nose when I sweat either.Using the green mirror lenses is like watching the world in Hi-definition!Yes, they are expensive! However, you are paying for quality and not just a name. They are worth the price!! I won't buy any other brand of sunglasses anymore. I'm exceptionally particular about the equipment I use, and Costa meet the criterion for me.
Great Service: I had a pair of Costas that were 3-4 years old and used quite a bit but still in great/solid shape. They were plastic lens and I had a decent scratch that bothered vision. I sent in to get the lens replaced. Learned that the model I had was discontinued. They allowed me to move to a new pair for the cost of the replacement lens. Thank you!Great Product: With that, I choose the Salt Break and moved to the glass lens. Again, thank you for the great customer service. I went with the black out frame and copper mirror. They are a little heavier than the plastic, but the clarity is amazing. I wore these for a couple of days, put them on for a long hike, run, and fishing, used them in both sunny and party cloudy conditions, with various hats, and just absolutely loved the quality, clarity, and fit...so much so, that I bought a second pair, black out frames with blue mirror. They look great and function very well. Given the additional weight (didn't fit as snug when pulling off my eyes and placing on top of my head) and that I don't have a super huge head (these are large/thicker/heavier, I think a medium would be too tight for me, and my previous pair was a large too ), I did buy some retainers (which I found at Cabelas) to help ensure they don't fall off (found some rubber ones that I really like and don't hinder movement).I highly recommend this product and company.
About 10 days prior to leaving on a great white shark dive off of Guadalupe island, I started researching different polarized sunglasses options. Between work and business travel, I did not have time to go to a store to try on different models. Due to the myriad of positive reviews, I chose Costa and over the course of three days, I agonized over “which” pair to get. I looked at all of the different shapes and styles and even face shapes to determine what to get. I narrowed it down to two and finally chose Saltbreak. When they arrived I was pretty sure they would work but I had no idea how much I would quickly grow to love them. I was on the water for 6 straight days and the overall comfort and clarity is astounding. I could see several feet into the water and ... Simply stated - they are freaking awesome and I love them!
I lost my 5 year old Saltbreaks and after a couple of trips back to the restaurant I left them in I broke down and ordered a new pair. I decided to be a little different this time and got the blackouts. I have to say these are by far the worst sunglasses I have ever had from Costa. They quality of the frames equal that of gas station sun glasses. Every time I put them on they creak and sound like they are about to break. Maybe I made a mistake by not getting the Tortise frames again but these things a just junk. Very sad to see a company that always had such a great product go downhill. The only reason I gave them 3 stars is because the lenses are still good. Don yourself a favor and don’t waste $300 like I did.
I like many others on this review board love the glass lenses that Costa uses. I do not think there is a better quality lens out there. With that said I will be looking for a different brand of sunglasses. I was going to send my Saltbreaks in (for a second time) because of the rubber coming lose on the frames. The problem I have with it is the same as many others on here, the cost of shipping and a repair cost for a problem that continues to happen. I paid a lot of money for these glasses. I would understand if this problem was a once in a while issue but it seems to happen to every pair. If I owned my own company I would not be able to sleep at night knowing that I sell something that has a known problem without fixing the problem. It is kinda like a recall on ... The factory discovers there is a problem, comes up with a solution, implements the solution. They do not continue to sell the product to people and hope they don't hear about their issues. I would not recommend to anyone to buy the Saltbreak style, or any like it with rubber that will come off. Costa, if you come up with a solution for this problem pleas let me know and I will come back as a customer.
