After a period without use, following a cold spell the battery on my wife's Micra was flat - to the extent that the remote key wouldn't work. A "traditional" simple charger couldn't remedy the problem. I had bought the Ctek CT5 Start Stop for my new (used) Hyundai i30. The battery on the Micra was quite a challenge - probably because of sulphate. It took several hours, but the battery now is in perfect working order. CTEK Customer Service was very helpful - and prompt. Very happy with the purchase.

My Volvo was refusing to stop/start or to let me listen to the radio when not driving. I stopped at a “chain” garage who tested my battery free of charge… “ you need a new battery (£220) as this one’s not holding any charge”! Checked in with Volvo main dealer who found the contrary …. It was holding 86% of its charge. Recommended I run the car more often or get a trickle charger. So I purchased this unit which was delivered within a few days. Connected it to the battery and body. It charged the battery and then went into maintenance mode. Car has worked well since then on its one outing so hopefully will continue as such. Early days but given the icy weather and lots of short journeys thought it best to get a charger/conditioner. No complaints so far. Highly rated but certainly not cheap. Good service.

Could be a great product, but I haven’t got a clue! The instructions are woeful for such a premium product. About 3 lines written in English the rest in mumbo jumbo. Message for Ctek, if you’re going to sell in the UK supply detailed operating instructions and not some squashed up rubbish written in 30 different languages!
I bought this when my car battery died during the cold snap, so dead I couldn't lock the doors. The instructions are very brief, but good enough. Charging the battery was as simple as connecting the charger and coming back in a few hours. Nice build quality and pretty much foolproof.
I bought this after considerable deliberation. I have a stop / start BMW with a 5 year old battery. My service garage - who I trust- suggested I buy a battery charger to help the battery over the coming winter period. I do a very low annual mileage. I considered the BMW charger but found that this is simply a BMW badged CTEK charger. The BMW comes with a one/two year guarantee whereas the CTEK has a 5 year one. The CTEK Stop/Start charger is easy to use and programming it is neither necessary nor possible. This is good because I understand that certain reconditioning programmes on some chargers are not recommended for Stop/Start car batteries. Take Halfords advice before buying. but I recommend this charger for Stop/Start car batteries.
I have had issues with my car battery losing power in the cold weather when it stands. I have always been told to disconnect my battery from the car before charging. Not any more.This CTEK charger is designed to charge the battery AND care for the battery whilst still connected to the car. The instructions for use are simplicity itself and it can stay charging the battery until needed. Connection to the battery is with the usual crocodile clips But there is also a permanent connector that you can leave on the car and simply connect the charger to when the battery needs charging. Excellent tool.

Having re started the car, the technician discussed with me the probable reason for the battery failing, and recommended I buy a suitable charger for the type of battery and to keep an eye on the battery's state. I tested it out on a spare lead acid battery which I normally keep charged up for emergencies and which needed a charge, and has held the charge at a good voltage for over a week, so I know the charger works. Compact, reliable and robust, this particular model was chosen because it was designed for modern AGM (glass mat technology) 12v batteries in particular. It serves my newer stop-start engine system as well as my old classic cars so I am happy to spend a little more on this quality item.
