Best mini-processor IMO

I ordered this updated mini-processor as a replacement for my longstanding one. Also Cuisinart. It's a workhouse. The brand stands the test of time and the price was very reasonable for what I received.

I have one but in the move can't locate it but this is a great replacement!! It's older but well taken care of and operates perfectly. I'd be lost without it, and it's white easy to clean and tough. I puree my older cat's food in it and it makes it fluffy, he loves it.

Good for very small jobs but very noisy

I purchased this little Cuisinart DLC-1 Mini-Prep 2.6 Cup Food Processor to puree meals for my handicapped son, but I found it too small to be very useful. I had to do one item (like a cup of cooked broccoli) in divided batches because the machine does not evenly grind more than about a half cup at a time. My larger old Cuisinart DLC-8 works much better for this type of job. This little one could be great for grinding coffee or spices, or for individual 1/2 cup servings like quickly grinding food for baby food. But it's not something you want to use at the table because it's painfully noisy. Be sure to wear ear protection!

Lid leaks
22 April 2022

I bought this to replace the one I’ve had for 15 years. (The cup cracked and it was warped.). The lid on the new one didn’t close completely and liquid oozed out while processing- thank goodness I didn’t throw out my old one yet. The old lid fit perfectly - no oozing

Not too bad for price

This little machine works fine (on most foods), has enough power to do the job and is easy to use. The price is also right. It has one problem though...both chopper knives are on the same plane. Because of this... some foods(like meat) just roll around in a blob without being mixed or chopped. One blade should ALWAYS be higher than the other so food mixes properly. Having said that, it is one of the few small processors that has "direct drive" with no belts or plastic gears to go bad. Thats why I bought it. The way the blades connect to the motor shaft looks a little weak though, I suppose that will be the first thing to go. Time will tell. For longevity, a direct drive processor (having the food container right above the motor) is the only way to go, until they ... MoreThis little machine works fine (on most foods), has enough power to do the job and is easy to use. For longevity, a direct drive processor (having the food container right above the motor) is the only way to go, until they start using steel gears. All the food processors I looked at are made with too much cheap plastic. Cheap plastic gears and belts only last a few months or maybe a year if your lucky. They are made like cheap plastic toys. If my new car only lasted a year, you can bet I'd be hoppin mad. I guess manufacturers think food processors should be "disposable". Build me one with STEEL GEARS, like my inexpensive quarter inch drill. Is that too much to ask? I think not. For now, this is the best small home processor I can find.

Quick turnaround to prep multiple items.
13 June 2012

Pros: Easy To Use, Quiet, Handles Tough Jobs, Dishwasher Safe, Single serving easy prep, Durable, Powerful MotorCons:Other thoughts: Have a special diet needs MS patient with swallowing difficulties and bought to ease the food preparation. This machine was just the ticket. I have used it for everything including salads. With it I can get the food down to safe sizes but still maintain recognizable items that appeal to the appetite. Fast turnaround to do every item on the plate individually.Delivery was lightning fast. Arrived the day after it was ordered on standard free shipping. Thanks Beach Camera.

Save your money..
2 August 2022

I bought this food processor and used it once, followed all the directions and it just stopped working. Now I am stuck with a food processor that is completely useless and Cuisinart was no help in the matter. Looking elsewhere and for a different brand that actually wants to help their customer on their faulty product. Save yourself the trouble.

Smaller Than I Thought
8 February 2016

The diameter of the bowl is about 4 1/2" and the depth about 2 1/2". The maximum liquid volume is maybe 1 1/2 cups, but that's pushing it. The machine is almost too small to do any useful work - other than making baby food. I use it to make small quantities of sauces of various kinds. It works well for salsa because I process each ingredient to a specific size. For instance, garlic is chopped much smaller than peppers and tomatoes. And it chops the heck out of fresh herbs. The unit itself is built like a bank vault. And it whizzes like a Tasmanian Devil on crack cocaine..(can I say that?) And it looks way cute (parent and child) sitting next to my big Cuisinart of the same blocky design. It's certainly worth the money but don't get the idea that it will substitute ... MoreThe diameter of the bowl is about 4 1/2" and the depth about 2 1/2". You can never go wrong with a Cuisinart.

This is a handy little food processor to have. It looks nice and it works well. I just made homemade peanut butter in it and it works very well. I also made homemade mayonnaise in it. It matches my Cuisinart large food processor. All around it is a very nice little processor especially for making smaller amounts.

not sized correctly!
5 May 2014

I bought this to replace my 24 ounce Cuisinart mini prep, which has served us well for several years. This one is supposed to be 21 ounces, but it is SIGNIFICANTLY smaller that my old one. It will have to go back to the store. Was very disappointed as the price was right--it is just too small. Also, a bit of concern already mentioned: that the food has to be chopped small by hand first...that kind of defeats the purpose of a food processor. =) If that is the case, then, no, I would not recommend it.
