We got this for our IT toolkit to use on newer notebooks/surface tablets without ethernet adaptors. The D-Link notes say Plug and Play, that it will work almost straight away, well, having tried this now on many windows 7/8/10 PC's I can tell you this isn't true.Every single one has required downloading the drivers from D-Link to get this working.Even the driver is packaged badly with RAR, and super long file names/folders giving errors. The good bit is once you do get it going, it seems to work. But generic adaptors are cheaper and easier to setup.

Ok product, does not auto install on Win 10 ver 21H1. Drivers from website do not extract properly for some reason, thus the only way to get it working was to run the setup file from the CD provided and then plug in the adapter afterwards. My experience was not good with this product but your mileage may vary, bearing in mind I have used several different makes in past that were plug and play.

It is not plug and play on a Windows 10 laptop. Drivers are provided on a CD but it’s hard to find a laptop with an optical drive nowadays.Downloaded drivers from the D-Link website don’t work. I bought a Comsol equivalent from O…..w..ks and it worked straight away

I plugged it in. It started working for 30 mins, and then it stops working. It does this consistently.Defective product.I googled the problem but the support online says that it should work by plugging it in.
Despite the product info - it didn't work! The information on the box, and the information on the product webpage still didn't help to make it work. When I Googled for solutions, I found out that the product hadn't been supported for a few years.
Getting the drivers to make it work was a pain. Who has a CD drive in their laptop these days? And the website was just awful and getting the install to run took a fair bit of trial and error. Pity anyone not a little bit tech-savvy.
The first review was for a different product... This product is good. I was only getting approx. 40mbits/s on my Ethernet laptop port, plugged adapter in USB 2.0 and speed is up to 160mbits/s... If you want wired internet then this adapter works well. Older HP laptop.
This product has enabled me to use my FTTP via cable to my USB port no problem. This has increased my speed by about 400mbps compared to wifi in exactly the same spot.
Despite hour of trying, multiple drivers and scouring the net for a solution I could not get this to work. D-Link must be embarrassed by it as they had discontinued support for it. I will be returning it. Steer clear of it!!
Works as intended. Installation was a little bit of a pain, I don't have a CD-rom on my new razer blade stealth laptop, so I decided to use an external LG cd-rom drive, but windows 10 wouldn't allow it to work for security reasons even though I'm the only user and the only admin, I tried troubleshooting this, but had no luck, it seems the only way around this error is to mess with the machines command prompt, and that stuff can get messy. So I looked up the device and downloaded the drivers online; the zip drivers folder was a mess so I had to search for the setup exe, rather than it being in the first folder, setup worked and the device is functioning normally. The devices states it can get speeds up to 2000 mbps which is impressive but I can't tell how fast it can actually function as very minimal places in Australia have those internet speeds in the first place.
