I think I may have gotten a refurbished reel on mine. Out of the box, I noticed grease on the bail hinge and a grease fingerprint next to the anti reverse. There seems to also be a tiny screwdriver mark on one of the screws. Bail is also pretty stiff and doesn't click when opened. My reel also did not have any line on it which based on the description, was supposed to have 10lb mono pre spooled.Hope the reel holds up...For the price I paid, I figured something was a little off. Oh well, lesson learned.

I really like the feel and design. I was disappointed that the combo didn't include the line. I haven't had a rod and real in my position for awhile so I can get past that. The price was what got me to make the purchase. I'm definitely going to stop into your local store and check the rest of your inventory 😉

I was overwhelmed when I first started looking into rods and reels 4 years ago. They make it seem like you need a specific rod and reel for every kind of fish and lure. Eventually, I bought an earlier model of this Daiwa for $20 just to get out on the water. Since then I have caught hundreds of fish on poppers, jigs, spinners, worms, etc. in shallow water, weeds, around trees, and off of docks. You really don't need anything special if you're just heading out for a good time and you can still catch some good ones on this. I am actually only buying this newer model because last Sunday I snapped the end of the rod pulling in a 21.5 inch smallmouth right after nailing a 14 and a 17 (don't worry, he flopped into the boat!). I look forward to catching hundreds of fish ... MoreI was overwhelmed when I first started looking into rods and reels 4 years ago. I bought this to use with the lighter weight lures. all my other ones are medium, medium-heavy, or heavy. I only used it once so far, casting from the dock. Casts well and reel is smooth. Haven't hooked anything larger than a perch yet.
First fishing rod and reel combo. Works well to me. No experiences with other brands. At least good price and decent one to spend time with kid together. Btw, I caught 2 fishes in 5 minutes in my first time fishing in my life:)
I purchased this combo to be a boat rod for red fishing. My boat rods get abused by novice Fishermen and big reds. I have horsed the heck out of some big reds with this rod, intentionally to see what the rod would withstand. It has held up perfectly. No complaints with reel either. Wound with 20# spider wire and 25# flouro leader, it gets the job done.
Awesome rod and reel. Super strong and reel is smooth even after a couple chinook salmon. Biggest was close to 15 pounds. Really recommend!
I was hoping this was a to good to be true combo... it wasnt the real is plastic and very cheap. The rod is super heavy and floppy no control. It is barely worth $25.00 ive seen zebcos that are better. Only thing ill do eith this put 15 pound line on it and catfish. Defanatly not a lure throwing rod.
I Bought this recently recommend it great for catching Australia salmon and flatheadSilver Trevalley
Perfect rod for beginners for sure! I use the rod to do some pier fishing and its been great against lots of fish types.
