It's tough to find a better solution on market today if you have a laptop this is built for. It's the right combination of ports for a pro dock like this.I think I'm happy that it *sort of* relies on a common standard (USB C) instead of using a proprietary plug, but it's not the most consistent experience. Sometimes the laptop thinks it's on a low power charger. Sometimes the monitors don't connect quite right. If I bump the cable even slightly, it disconnects and reconnects. All these problems are fixed very easily and quickly by unplugging and plugging back in, but it just feels a bit janky. I wish the power brick was built in instead of having 2 bricks. And I wish there was some way to clip or mount it upside-down to the bottom of the desk.

This is a minor annoyance and it only takes a minute or so to put everything back to where it was but if you spend a minute doing this every day it still adds up to a few hours per year.

If you have a USB-C powered computer that needs more than 90w, has ports that aren't either too close or far apart, you have few USB item needs, and your computer can use DisplayPort over USB-C, then this dock might be just the ticket. For machines that don't meet those criteria, I'd suggest a different Dell dock:1. Most business class machines don't currently require, and can't handle, two USB-C power connections. Giving too much power to your USB will cause Windows to turn off your USB ports until you unplug one lead and reset them.2. Machines that can use both cannot have ports that are too close or too far apart, or the leads will either not fit together, or just not reach (if the ports are on opposite corners of the device, for example). My machine's USB-C ports were a short distance from one another, and the magnetic clasp on the leads caused them to pull together and stress the connection.3. The dock neither supports DisplayLink nor acts as a basic USB hub when testing with a machine that doesn't support DisplayPort over USB-C. There doesn't appear to be an alternate connection method for either video or USB.4. The number of USB ports (A or C) is a little slim. This isn't the dock I'd recommend for a user with a mouse, keyboard, phone charger, headset, and camera.

These docks are absolutely horrible. Needing constant reboots. Rarely providing the correct power, various connections not working at times without reboots. I also believe they burn out the motherboards on larger systems. I regularly am docked, and eventually my PC will just die due to lack of power, but it never warned me the dock wasn't giving enough power....Then i have to let my system charge for at least 20 minutes before it will even power back on - usually giving me time of day errors where it was drained of 100% power while docked. These are not worth the money they actually cost and are a waste of time, plastic, and shipping from China. I was able to locate a 7520 which takes an E-Dock and have downgraded my system to avoid these absolutely horrible docks. ... MoreThese docks are absolutely horrible. Needing constant reboots. Layout is good, setup was easy, connections seem plenty fast with little penalty for going through a dock. One quibble is that when connected to the dock if the power cord pops out of the dock the computer does not continue on battery as it would without the dock, solved with duct tape and baling wire by elegantly anchoring the dock's power cable to its computer connector cable-- a handy use for the anti interference module. Really I used a bit of the twisty black wire from the shipping kit, it looks fine but this is the reason for only 4 stars. (The anti interference module is in the perfect spot and if you havent saved up a few twisty black wires, what were you thinking?)All in all I am very satisfied and would recommend this dock to anyone who feels the need ... MoreLayout is good, setup was easy, connections seem plenty fast with little penalty for going through a dock. Test time frame – 2 weeks. The dock is being used with a Precision Mobile Workstation 7770. Monitors connected to the dock are models U3415W and U2715H. Peripherals that are connected are a USB-C headset, USB RGB gaming mouse, and USB mechanical switch RGB keyboard. The dock works well when plugging in and unplugging the laptop. Pros – works well with connected monitors. Cons – no audio jack and only 3 USB ports. Make sure you follow the instructions that came with the dock. The firmware on the dock needs to be updated for it to work properly with connected monitors.

My dock is paired with a Precision 7780 and they mostly stay on my desk and do not move apart from occasional trips to the field. The new arrangement replaces a 6 year old Precision 7510 and Dell Thunderbolt TB16 dock. The WD19DCS sits comfortably under a computer stand and has a reasonable number of outputs. There are trade-offs the USB-C cable is longer than the Thunderbolt Cable which is good but it uses two USB-C connections on the 7780. I also think that the USB-C cables coming out of the side of the WD19DCS is poor design and those cables should have come out of the rear panel.Overall, the dock does it job. And after 1 week's use I have no real complaints. I think the design could be improved. Personally, I would be happier deploying an additional auxiliary PSU if that frees up one of the USB-C sockets on the 7780 and reduces the need for two cables between the dock and the 7780. And I would prefer all connections to be either on the front and rear panels and not have a cable come out of an end panel.

This given, the WD19DCS has largely exceeded my expectations with a few exceptions as experienced of WD19DCS's i already have (haven't yet installed the one i just purchased). That is, it renders my dual/hi-speed 2560's flawlessly, has never lost ethernet, kb, mouse, I/O, and firmware seems to remain subject to improvements (updates). The shortcomings regard: A) accurate/consistent monitor detection thru KVM. B) inconsistent power status as received by Precision notebook.
