My wife and I have owned the Breville and Sunbeam drip filter machines, and when our second Breville kicked the bucket, we decided to consider something different. This machine looks different, but in an elegant way. I agree with other reviewers that it does carry on and make a lot of clicking noises, but the end result is very good. Much better brew quality compared to the other machines.

I have an older coffee filter machine, which tends to stay in the cupboard being unused due to the time it takes to make the coffee, which is why I moved over to a coffee pod making machine. Pods are great but the coffee is often very sweet and does not make the biggest cup of coffee! I was therefore pleasantly surprised with the De'Longhi Clessidra Coffee Machine!To start it is a sleek good looking machine, which looks great out on the side in my kitchen.Very easy to unbox and start using, just boil the water through twice and then you are ready to go. The result has been a perfect addition not only our morning coffee but was a hit at a dinner party where everyone was astonished as the quality of the brew. Pros: Coffee tastes better than average for a drip coffee maker. Nice looking design - modern.Cons: I don’t like the way that you cannot clean the water reservoir as it is an integral part of the machine and cannot be removed. We live in a hard water area and even after one use it has residue. I make sure I use filtered water but this does not help.

Mainly made of glass and aluminium-just a couple plastic parts in total. Brewing process is very simple-just fill up with water and pour some coffee and you're ready to go! Based on my non-professional tests, the taste is great as it should be and the temperature is also great. It makes 1litre coffee from a cold start in about 7-8 minutes which is fine i guess. Firstly it boils the water till optimal temperature and only then a valve opens and water starts to flow over the coffee. I have had the machine 1 year. It has two different buttons for making different types of coffee drip filter coffee and some sort of European coffee Association approved blend. Both methods taste fantastic and very different even when made with the same coffee beans.One key think that is different to traditional machines is the the hotpot does not switch on until the brewing cycle is completed. This improves the taste by preventing the coffee scorching. This means you need to wait a bit longer for very hot coffee
