I bought this a few weeks back, the telesales team were excellent with a clear understanding of what I was looking for an a very smooth ordering process, even with the interest free credit registration process.The Denon AVC-X3800H itself is incredible, I upgraded from a 20 year old Yamaha AV amp and the difference is amazing. The accuracy and position of surround content is superb, the HEOS music functionality is great for playing network music content. I'm looking forward to testing out the Dolby Atmos capabilities when I have upgraded my speakers.As an added bonus the stereo music capability is pretty good, not quite up high end hi-fi quality but way better than my old Yamaha AV amp.

All good so far. Upgraded from a 3500. Sound wise it’s probably the same but wanted to try Dirac when it comes out. It’s nice to have the option of switching internal amps off individually when using a separate amp.Only niggle at the moment is the GUI is slow. Older denons are quicker. Was expecting this to be at lease as good. It’s nice to see it re designed and looking modern but needs speeding up. Would be 5 star if this wasn’t an issue.

I bought this amp after much deliberating as a replacement to my Denon AVR-4306, which after 17yrs still worked fine. The fest up process is very easy, the onscreen guidance goes through everything from connecting, setting up the speakers and tagging your devices.The sound quality is well balanced and not too bass heavy like my previous amp, which offered more clarity. I really liked the ARC function as it allowed it to seamlessly swap between the device being used.The team at Richer Sounds Leicester were very helpful, both over the phone and in-person. It’s quite clear the guys knew their stuff and offered me the best advice.

I decided to replace my faulty Yamaha AVR and having been disappointed with the longevity of the Yamaha fancied something else. Although I have a soundbar for day to day viewing, I enjoy the Dolby surround effect and Atmos when possible which meant I had to get a replacement AVR. Discussing with the good folks at Richer Sounds I ended choosing the Denon. Initially I was going to purchase the X2800H but after discussing finance options I gladly took them up on a 18month Interest free credit arrangement which allowed me to get the X3800H and I am so pleased I did. The X3800H is a huge step up from my Yamaha and I am really enjoying the no frills sound quality. Top marks to Richer Sounds and their team for steering me right!
I’ve owned this for a couple of months now. Whilst overall it has been awesome for the audio and music output, there has been one issue.When using my turntable, it cuts out for a few 1/2-3/4 of a second every minute or so. After much investigation it turns out that it was the eARC from the TV, disturbing the analogue signal.I’m not sure how this is possible; but it happened with two separate amps after an exchange once the issue was identified.Apart from that, it has been bang on!
Using the Amp only with TV on eARC & Sky Q on Sat input. Problems with turning everything on. Initially issues were not high quality HDMI cable.Even with good cable, regularily powered up without TV image passed through AMP. Work around was to disable Video->HDMI->RC source select to "source only", now 3 days without issue. HEOS interface has crashes every few days requiring a restart of the amp. Volume control jumps in large steps if you hold the button on the remote for more than 1/2 second. Built in menu occasionally goes out of sync and scales incorrectly. Waiting for Atmos speakers to comment on audio quality, but this needed days of playing just to get everything to turn on properly.

The AVR also includes a web server so you can change settings from your PC or phone by just going to is IP address, which is handy add I used it to check the audio input when using eARC as the overlay GUI isn't available on that mode.It's a tough call between the x3800 and x4700 if you don't need more hdmi 2.1 or want to try Dirac room correction as they are priced almost the same. The x4700 as the model above probably nudges out ahead of you don't want the new features.
A brilliant AVR from Denon which replaced my old Onkyo. Almost feels like I have a fresh new set of speakers after using the X3800. There is so much more detail than before and the Audyssey works really well for my environment. The soundstage from this model is forward and punchy and the sound seperatation from the speakers is a brilliant. Was a close call between this model and the X3800. I chose this one as it should be future proofed for many years to come and with Dirac Live being available for it soon it should take my room calibration to the next level. Also, it doesn't get as hot as some other models which is another plus point.
I purchased this after a much needed upgrade over my previous receiver, which was about 8 years old!After reading endless reviews I settled on the denon 3800.The features were extensive and the sound in both movies and 2 channel have had me smiling to myself!I’ve been using it in a 5.2.4 setup which is possible due to it having 9 driven channels, and the fact it has pre outs to run external amps is a nice touch.I hadn’t tried Atmos before so it was important to get something that had enough channels to power my new setup.I think on balance the denon is very hard to beat for features and value at its price point and I’d definitely recommend.Also like to thank staff at Maidstone branch for being as helpful as they were!
I was going to purchase the Onkyo TX-5Z50 before reading whiskeycola review. Honest reviews can really help navigate you and this one did. I've previously had 2 Onkyo and the Denon is an experience. I've learnt nothing lol so far as it's very technical compared to Onkyo, with a crisp sound. I love the idea of 4 subwooofers and the 9.1/11.1 setup. My musical experience has changed dramatically with this receiver just make sure you carve out time to play with her.Special shout out to Kevin at customer care and Richer Sound for refunding me 2 days after the price changed with no hassle.Thank you whiskeycola!
