It is nice to have all the devices wake up and shut down with a minimum of swapping remotes.I prefer to use a Fire TV as opposed to the LG TV's Amazon and Netflix Apps, and the pass thorough eARC HDMI connector works perfectly with onboard Apps sending sound from the TV to the amp.It is a nice piece of gear. It works. No hassles.

I still had my Samsung Speakers, and good thing I checked the ohmage before I opened the Sony 790 box because my Samsung speakers were 4 ohm and the Sony would not support them.... So, I brought it back to Best Buy a couple hours later. It took some research to find a system in my price range that could handle 4 ohm speakers, but I finally found the Denon AVR-X2700H. I had to drive all the way to the best Buy in Scottsdale, AZ (45 minutes away, other side of the valley) to see it, and I brought my speakers with me so I could hear it in their Magnolia Room with my 4 ohm Samsungs. I was pretty impressed with the sound, so I bought it. It was a bit more than what I was hoping to pay for a nice system, but what the heck, YOLO....Setup wasn't too bad, probably took about an hour and a half or more. I couldn't wait to hear it, and boy was I disappointed. Even after spending 20 minutes with their special microphone on a tripod deal that supposedly dials in the proper sound levels based on how far away your speakers are from where you sit. I finally figured out how to manually set the distances, but am still not satisfied with the sound.... it just doesn't sound as clear as the sound I was used to hearing out of my old Samsung HT-AS720..... and the bass coming out of my Samsung subwoofer is nowhere near what it used to be.I don't do gaming, at all. I won't be hooking up my Blue Ray player, or my Fire TV, as all of that is plugged in to the HDMI ports on my 75" Samsung 4K UHD TV. .... So I guess the 4k pass through bad chip issue won't affect me as I really don't get that technical. I didn't even want to hook up any HDMI cables or anything like that from the Denon to my TV, but I soon found that the unit WILL NOT WORK unless you run an HDMI cable (not included) from the Denon to the TV in order to set it up. All I wanted was to be able to plug my TVs "Optical Out" into the Denon "Optical In" and go back to listening to sound that was at least as good as what I had with my 13 year old Samsung. Sadly, I am disappointed. $984 worth of disappointed. One possibility is that I may have to figure out how to set the Denon up for my 4 ohm speakers, as I don't remember having to do that during the automated setup process. I've looked all over in the setup menus, but can't find anything that talks about 4 ohm speakers, or 6 or 8.Another strange thing issue is that if I put my hand within 5 inches of the back of the subwoofer, the Denon will stop out-puting any sound.... total silence. Then, when I move my had away from the Subwoofer, the sound comes back on. Even when I switch the subwoofer off, same thing. I can see both ends of the cable/plug that goes from the Denon to the Subwoofer, kinda scary. It's just a subwoofer that receives a pre-amp signal from the Denon, through a subwoofer cable, into it's own amp ....I've tried to get some info off of the Denon website, but it is super slow... I mean SUPER SLOW.... I could not surf anywhere on it because no matter what I clicked on, or what I tried to search for, I could only get a couple pages to load and lost interest after 10 minutes of trying. I had no problem going anywhere else on the web. I even left the Denon website and came back to it a couple times.... no luck. It would have been nice to find an owner's manual, as it doesn't come with one, but their website is worthless and not worth another 10 minutes of my time trying to get a single page to load and coming up with nothing. It's probably jammed with other suckers like me that shelled out nearly $1000 for a big disappointment.

He reassured me that it should not be a problem, but if it was, I could contact him by email and he would arrange a free collection for return. Also received free speaker cables worth £50. Felix arranged for next-day delivery. I’ve had the receiver for a few days now. I’ve been pleasantly surprised by its AV performance as a 7.1 channel amplifier, and its musical abilities in stereo. In my opinion it is far superior to the similarly priced and specified Yamaha RXV-6A receiver which I also own (purchased from Richer Sounds in Nov 2020). Felix kindly provided advice in setting up the receiver based on my existing equipment. The sources include a Sony PS5 (for Games and UHD 4K Blu-ray discs), Xbox One S, Sky Q and Amazon Firestick 4K Max. The output goes to a LG UHD 4K TV and a UHD 4K HDR projector (Optoma UHD35, also purchased from Richer Sounds). I’m using HDMI 2.1 cables for input and output except for the projector which is limited to HDMI 2.0. The speaker set-up is 5.1.2 (including front height speakers). The UHD 4K HDR (HDR 10 and Dolby Vision where available) images are sharp and crisp, as expected. I’ve not tested the 4K 120Hz feature as I don’t have any appropriate display nor monitor for it. Sound wise, the receiver outputs Dolby Atmos without any issues, but you’ll need to configure your sources very carefully. For instance, DA can be output in one of two ways on your existing equipment: either as uncompressed Dolby TrueHD, or compressed Dolby Digital Plus. On my equipment, the PS5 and Xbox One S are capable of passing through DA signals via Dolby TrueHD on UHD 4K Blu-ray discs, and the Denon recognizes the Atmos soundtrack. Make sure you configure your PS5 and Xbox One S correctly to output Bitstream for sound output. For the Xbox One S this is easy. For the PS5, it’s more complicated. Firstly, check your Sound output is set to AV Amplifier (not TV nor soundbar), then choose 7.1 speaker set-up, and Dolby (not DTS nor PCM). Next, on the Blu-ray disc menu, set Language output to Dolby Atmos, and finally, whilst playing the disc, go to the Options Disc Menu and select Audio output as Bitstream instead of PCM. You should get Atmos sound. You can confirm the 7.1 signal by pressing the Info button on the Denon remote which displays the source signal (i.e. Atmos via Dolby TrueHD or Atmos via Dolby Digital Plus). You can also get Atmos sound for Games and Netflix/Disney Plus/Amazon Prime Video streams via the Xbox One S (but sadly not the PS5 due to licencing issues), but note that this is via compressed Dolby Digital Plus. To my surprise, the Denon was able to recognise this difference between compressed and uncompressed signals. The Amazon Firestick 4K Max (connected to the Media Player HDMI port with power supplied by the front USB port) also outputs Dolby Atmos sound via Dolby Digital Plus; make sure you configure the Sound settings correctly on the Firestick in Settings (choose Dolby Digital Plus, not Best Available). You should be able to stream programmes in Atmos (numerous in Netflix and Disney, a few in Amazon Prime; I’ve not come across any on Apple TV). For non-Atmos sound signals (e.g. Dolby Digital 5.1 or stereo), the Denon can make use of your additional front height or ceiling speakers via the Dolby Surround or DTS Neural X. The sound is not as discrete nor convincing as a true Dolby Atmos stream but at least you'll get sound from your 6th and 7th speakers. For those with 5.1 (or less) speaker set ups, you can use Dolby Atmos Height Virtualizer or DTS Virtual X for sound transmitted in Dolby or DTS stereo/5.1, to virtually create sound from virtual height speakers Moving onto music. I listen to high-definition music (streamed via Qobuz and Tidal) and I have dedicated stereo systems in other rooms for this, using pre and power amps and floorstanding speakers. The Denon does a remarkable job in reproducing music (especially in analogue when connected to am external DAC). It’s far superior to the Yamaha RVX-6A in this regard. The DAC for music in stereo is fine, but clearly inferior to external DACs used with dedicated stereo amps. I suspect most people who buy this will only use it for music occasionally; its main strength is in its 7.1 UHD 4K HDR AV capabilities. Overall, I’m extremely happy and satisfied with the Denon, which has exceeded my expectation. I’m also very pleased with the service from Richer Sounds (i.e. Felix), who went beyond the call of duty in providing advice during and after the purchase. I would highly recommend the Denon.

Great Pair for B&W Speakers
26 September 2021

I have been using the AVR for three weeks now and so far, it is great! I would recommend it with the B&W 606 speakers I bought. I would recommend it with the B&W 606 speakers I bought. With the chip shortage, I have not been able to buy an Xbox Series X to try 4k 120Hz.The connectivity with Spotify makes listening to music really easy with the in-App connectivity. Tidal is less user-friendly because you need to use the Heos App which can only load about 200 songs into the playlist (the A's in my liked songs). I think this is a Tidal thing rather than the Denon. The only slightly annoying everyday thing is the volume control. With the remote, it either goes up by 0.5dB per press or if you hold it in for more than 1s it starts jumping by 4dB which can very quickly run away. Within Spotify, it jumps by 6dB per press on my Pixel phone and with Heos it is 2dB per press (perfect amount). We are around 40yrs since the first AV Receiver was released, surely there can be a setting to control how much the volume changes per press and per hold? It is clear that different methods of changing volume can change it by different amounts.

Great sound, power, and nice interface

Bought this Denon AVR x2700 in early Sept 21 to replace a Samsung Q950 A sound bar which had serious lip sync issues. I can safely say its by far and away better than the sound-bar, even with its 22 speaker, 11.1.4 speaker setup even enough I don't have ATMOS speakers...currently ;)I have the AVR setup in a 5.1 arrangement using 4 Monitor Audio Radius 90s and 1 x 200, coupled with a REL HT1003 10" sub. The speakers are clear and sound incredible, and the sub is tight and can shake the house when needed. Overall the setup was easy using Audyssey, which picked out the correct distance and levels first time. Crossover did need correction though. Lip sync was a small concern initially but once I turned off the ‘Auto Lip Sync’ setting everything snapped into place ... MoreBought this Denon AVR x2700 in early Sept 21 to replace a Samsung Q950 A sound bar which had serious lip sync issues. Lip sync was a small concern initially but once I turned off the ‘Auto Lip Sync’ setting everything snapped into place across all services Sky Q, Prime Video, Netflix and Disney +, regardless of source i.e. from TV to AVR or Skq Q to AVR. Blur ray was fine regardless. Overall I would highly recommend the Denon AVR 2700.As for Richer Sounds….well they are in a league of their own! They helped me through the Samsung sound bar issues and return, and the Denon AVR and REL sub purchases (Radius speakers I bought used due to budget). They ensured I demo’d all the kit I was considering and made sure the customer was happy all the way through…can’t say better than that!!

This was my first ever Denon purchase-- normally a Sony guy. I do notice better sound quality then my previous Sony, however, I have not been able to keep the unit from shutting off "randomly" when using my Apple TV, with my Sony TV. Now I will say that I have had "fits" with the Sony TV from the day it came home. I almost regret not taking it back to Best Buy, but the picture was so nice.. Fast forward to upgrading to the Denon. I have tried everything I can think of to fix the issue. Right down to spending $$$ on 8K certified HDMI cables -- which believe it or not really did improve the picture. But to no avail. While watching the Apple TV though the Denon the picture will randomly go black. I fix it by switching the Denon from the input to another video input ... MoreThis was my first ever Denon purchase-- normally a Sony guy. Much better than any TV speakers or soundbar

I got this to go with my new 85 inch Samsung Q80A TV and I am delighted. I was going to get the 3700H but after speaking with the knowledgeable people are RS, saved some money and went for the 2700H.I haven't had the opportunity to have a decent set up for a long time - my last proper AV receiver was a Pioneer AX5i which I really liked. The Denon 2700 is not quite as weighty as this from memory (the Pioneer is THX select certified) - but still miles better than using a sound bar or built-in TV speakers.I am using it in 5.1 mode and the sounds fly around the speakers very nicely - and a reason why there was no need for the 3700H.I really liked the Audyssey set up which uses multiple seating positions as input to determine best speaker configuration (distance, ... MoreI got this to go with my new 85 inch Samsung Q80A TV and I am delighted. It did a great job in my room although being the tinkerer I made some minor tweaks through the fairly simple menu system. The tweaking is extensive too - levels, distance and individual low frequency cross-over settings too - so it should work with basically any speaker set.It goes loud enough for me - the volume range is 0 to 98 but I haven't had it over 70.. yet. One thing though is that it seems to get rather warm which is a little disconcerting because the amp is tucked away inside a unit with doors to the front. But no problems so far.So multi-channel cinema is all good, but I was also happy when I played music through the 2700H - very listenable, crisp but not overly bright. I paired the amp with some used but still good Kef Egg speakers (and sub) which can be bright but I think the amp stops them from sounding shrill. So in summary - very good amp, and good value too.

I purchased this Denon AVR-X2700H receiver after receiving a defective Yamaha receiver, which I returned for an Onkyo receiver, which was also Defective. Returned it and gave the Onkyo a 2nd chance and ordered another one. It was also defective (what are the odds of getting 3 defective receivers in a row??). I ended up ordering this Denon receiver directly from Denon, got a fantastic price with an additional $50 discount (January, 2023) . Maybe they are coming out with a newer model? In any event, this receiver is phenomenal! Super easy setup. They automatic surround sound programming is the best of any receiver I've owned (about 8 over the past 15 or so years). The features included with this receiver are amazing. The sound is outstanding through my in ceiling Klipsch speakers and floor standing Klipsch sub woofer. I'm super impressed with everything about this receiver.

Too Early for a Comprehensive Review

I have had the AVR for a week and half, so I can only say so much. But so far, so good. It was easy to setup and configure. Audyssey was easy to use for the setup, as well was the Manual setup. There appears to be a lot more I could tweak with the settings, but I only know what I know so far. The AVR sounds good.I am trying to determine if Denon has a remote for sale that will control the AVR and is programmable to control other 3rd party devices. I have searched the Denon site and other sites and cannot determine if remotes that come with the higher end receivers which appear to be programmable for 3rd party devices control the X2700. As it stands, I need 2 remotes to control the cable box, TV and AVR. I don't prefer to have my phone by me all the time in order ... MoreI have had the AVR for a week and half, so I can only say so much. But so far, so good. It was easy to setup and configure. Two units in, two chipset flaws on each.
6 March 2022

Got my first 2700h unit early 2020 and so naturally it had the giant HDMI 2.1 chipset bug issue. For this Denon sent out a secondary inline device which was meant to fix the issue...aside from being bulky, another power unit, and generally unreliable the "fix" device caused more issues than it solved. So Denon finally took the broken unit back and shipped me a 2022 version - no HDMI 2.1 issue! Instead this unit has an even more major flaw: It doesn't process uncompressed TrueHD audio correctly!! The 2020 unit did this fine, the TrueHD unit received all 7.1 channels and pushed them out to all 8 speakers... The 2022 unit shows that it's received the 7.1 channel, shows that it wants to push them to 3/2/2.1 format, and then doesn't send anything to the height ... MoreGot my first 2700h unit early 2020 and so naturally it had the giant HDMI 2.1 chipset bug issue. It only occurs with uncompressed audio files, and fails to use all audio channels when processing either Dolby TrueHD or DTS MA.System processes compressed DD+ with Atmos fine.To have two major chipset issues in two of the same unit is unacceptable for a top-end device. After I've returned this unit, I doubt I'll be a Denon customer any longer. Completely lost faith in the brand.
