The DEUTER Futura 30 SL hiking backpack is specially designed for the female anatomy. With a shorter back, narrower shoulder straps and cone-shaped hip stabilizers, the Futura SL provides comfortable support on the back. Very pleasant to wear, this bag benefits from the Aircomfort mesh back system which ensures maximum back ventilation. Light and functional, the Futura 30 SL is suitable for both a day trip and a hike lasting a few days thanks to its numerous compartments and pockets. I have a 20L and a 30L Deuter, which are too small and too big respectively so this is the perfect size. I particularly like the air cooler/ comfort system. I would rather have the extra zipped compartment at the bottom like my other 2 rucsacks have than the front compartment for a wet costume but otherwise I love it.

This is my second Futura Pro 34 SL Pack. My first one was purchased 8 years ago and after a LOT of use and abuse (including being dropped 30 feet) it was time to replace it. I was ecstatic to see that Deuter still makes this size AND that they improved the fit and features. I love the belt pockets and that the side packets are no longer mesh (mesh didn't last too long). It's incredibly comfortable and (it probably doesn't matter much) pretty! I love that the rain cover is built in - one less think to remember to bring and yet you can detach it to clean it. I highly recommend this backpack. It doesn't look that big, but I was actually able to pack for overnight trip (strapping sleeping bag to the outside).

I did a lot of research trying to decide on a pack. Man are there a lot of choices out there. Once I tried this one on I knew it was the one for me and I haven't regretted it for a second!I did get help from a fantastic lady at the store to make sure the pack was adjusted properly to fit me. It super comfortable to wear even fully loaded at capacity. My back doesn't get tired or all sweaty. The pack just feels really secure and very well balanced when I'm wearing it. The access to so many different compartments has also been very helpful. Now that I've been spoiled I don't know what I would do without this feature.I love this pack so much I'm trying to find more trips to use it on!

This pack is awesome. I wanted the Deuter Pack because the air comfort back means your back does not sweat on long hikes, winter expeditions or in warmer weather. The larger 26 liters means I easily carry layers, food and safety gear but it is not bulky and the side straps streamline the pack for smaller loads. Thanks to the SL Women’s design it fits sooooo well - you will never want a unisex pack again. I tried the men’s 28 version first and was completed frustrated with the man fit. This Futura 26 is now my training daypack used almost every week and I keep my Futura 34 for expeditions. BTW Huge fan of the Deuter Flowers!
Cons:- The compartmentalization is not that great - I miss an upper inner pocket, lower outer pocket and map pocket of Trans Alpine.- It's rather shallow from back to front. Don't expect to fit too wide stuff here. Still, a 3 + 1 tent should fit in just fine. Also, because of this, getting to the bottom of the pack gets hard sometimes - having access to lower part of the main compartment is another Trans Alpine feature I miss.Pros:- The mesh back is amazing, exactly like I remembered of my previous Futura from 6 years ago. A huge lifesaver during hot weather.- The longer back is a boon from heavens. I'm 185cm with elongated body, and the pack is way more comfortable than any of my previous ones of comparable volume.
I bought this for winter day hikes and just spent 8 days with it. The size is perfect, big enough to carry a few extra layers and snacks while still being compact enough to not be noticeable once you’re moving. The side pockets are nice, but don’t expect them to hold a phone. The mesh face of the side pockets tore a bit when going through tight slots, but the tears never worsened later and the pockets are still functional. The trekking pole straps worked very well. It has a system to accept a hydration bladder, but I just used a side pocket with a water bottle which I could use without taking off the pack. Overall, great value and this will work well for a long time.
I had been avoiding buying a new backpacking pack after my (really) old one began falling apart - I have tried so many other backpacking packs and halfway through my hike, I would hate myself for using something else, so I would always go back to my old one. This summer I tried this pack and LOVED it. I love the hip pockets, there is plenty of room for everything, I love the bottom pocket where I can stuff my sleeping bag and other lightweight clothing while leaving plenty of room in the main compartment of the pack, and I love the belts that can be tightened making the pack more compact. It's also one of the most comfortable packs I've had.
Bought this pack because I need something smaller then the 60 liter pack I carry for camping trips and larger then the day pack I carry. Love, love the fit. Comfortable for long hikes and climbing slides. Wish it had a zipper pocket inside the front section and a few more loops for attachments. Waist pockets fit my iPhone and snacks. Definitely recommend this pack.
Great pack - have had 2 other Deuter trekking packs. All fit well, we're easy to deal with, and (the first two) help up for a longtime even under weather and other stress. Dealing with Moosejaw (first time) was extremely timely and easy. Highly recommend pack and Moisejaw
I tested this out before hiking properly, bent down to take a fungi photo, and my water bottle fell out, and rolled halfway down the hill. Scrambled down to pick it up, and the other one fell out, and rolled down to the creek bank! So I added some netting to it, modified my husband's 28l version as well (used about 30 feet of shock cord per pack!) and we've been happily hiking in Glacier National Park all week. Seventeen miles yesterday, the pack was fine. In fact, it seemed much more ready to continue than I was!
