Purchased in preparation for Camino de Santiago pilgrimage later this year and to use for training. Having researched both opinion and products, this rucksack met all my criteria and that of others, for the essential properties of a rucksack for long distance hiking. I could list these but the product description includes all you need to know and can be trusted. Highly recommend this product. Colour brilliant for security and emergency and aesthetic appeal!

I had the older Futura 28 with the two separate main compartments and absolutely loved this pack. I used it to house my camera gear in the top compartment and my hiking gear and jacket in the bottom. This made it easy to access gear for either need. It’s unfortunate a pack in this size and configuration is no longer available. I loved the zipper top for getting camera gear in and out without having to deal with a top load flap and draw string to keep it tight. Made everything quick to access.Mine was recently stolen and I am trying to source a replacement. Am I correct in that this configuration has been discontinued? Or do you know of a source I could purchase the older style still?

I've had this pack for 5 years now (not as daily carry for all 5 years, but near daily for the first 3). Overall it's a really great daypack if you are walking/hiking/transit, etc. Very comfy harness. I've even run to work (6km) with this with shower and work clothes in it without any chafing.The problems arise when you want to use it for anything other than upright locomotion. As others have mentioned, it bumps the back of my head/helmet when cycling on a road or mountain bike. It also doesn't compress so it's near impossible to fit into a reg size gym locker - you need to 'spring' it into place. Same with the bus - it takes up more room than needed and doesn't ever compress even though it's empty. I have also found that the capacity is diminished due to the frame. I'll be taking it overseas as a one-bag travel bag but I doubt I'll be able to use packing cubes because you need to tuck things in and around the curved frame. Things like shoes are very difficult to fit in without them taking up all the space. But I'll still take this bag because it's so comfy.

Back ventilation is why I bought this pack and it rocks that category, to the point when you can feel a breeze go across you back if the winds hit the right angle. pockets are good, water bottle point in the right direction and can fit a normal Nalgene. The outside stuff pocket is narrow but deep so you need to rollup your jacket to get it to fit, and sleeping bags could be a tough fit. Main big pocket is roomy, other zippered pocket is also deep and narrow but has another small zippered pocket and mesh pouches to organize! This pack is awesome. I wanted the Deuter Pack because the air comfort back means your back does not sweat on long hikes, winter expeditions or in warmer weather. The larger 26 liters means I easily carry layers, food and safety gear but it is not bulky and the side straps streamline the pack for smaller loads. Thanks to the SL Women’s design it fits sooooo well - you will never want a unisex pack again. I tried the men’s 28 version first and was completed frustrated with the man fit. This Futura 26 is now my training daypack used almost every week and I keep my Futura 34 for expeditions. BTW Huge fan of the Deuter Flowers!
I purchased this pack in Calgary in September for hiking in the Rockies. Very pleased with this pack for long day hikes with a full load. Suspension is very comfortable and the frame is cool on the back.One of my purchase criteria was to use it for my backcountry photography hobby. The lower compartment is the perfect size for my DSLR/zoom in its padded holster. The hiking pole loops handle my lightweight tripped well. The strap loops are study enough to support my 2kg camera package when I want to hang it from my chest.The major drawback is under-seat stowage on airplanes because the rigid frame cannot be de-tensioned. The pack length cannot be shortened no matter how lightly packed. I bought this for winter day hikes and just spent 8 days with it. The size is perfect, big enough to carry a few extra layers and snacks while still being compact enough to not be noticeable once you’re moving. The side pockets are nice, but don’t expect them to hold a phone. The mesh face of the side pockets tore a bit when going through tight slots, but the tears never worsened later and the pockets are still functional. The trekking pole straps worked very well. It has a system to accept a hydration bladder, but I just used a side pocket with a water bottle which I could use without taking off the pack. Overall, great value and this will work well for a long time.
I haven't tested it yet. It's differently shaped for its size, so it can be one of the best daypack for hiking or a big mistake.- pros- sophisticated, and tall and narrow for its size- mine is in black with red zippers & zipper pulls, very sleek- Aircomfort Back is a big plus for hiking in hot weather- well built with good material and craftsmanship (YKK zippers and buckles are all around)- cons- 2-day shipping became an almost 10-day shipping and it was shipped by ground instead of by air as advertised when ordering- maybe too small even for day hiking (especially because of the main compartment's shape: side height is short for containing bulky items)

Very tough bag that has maintained a nice appearance after a lot of abuse. The buckles are slightly flimsy though and I've had to replace the chest strap buckle (replaced for free by MEC).The air comfort (mesh back area) is definitely a great feature. It doesn't completely eliminate back sweat but reduces it considerably. Because of the air comfort feature you have to be careful when stuffing it into the trunk or closet not to bend the metal frame that supports the bag. The metal flexes quite a bit but it is something that I always keep in mind. At the same time, the metal frame, which is curved, makes the pocket difficult to use for carrying other items, such as my laptop.So, overall a good product that could be improved.
