DeWalt 20V MAX* Circular Saw, 6-1/2-Inch, Cordless, Tool Only (DCS565B)

This was a great deal. I'm sure these batteries will last me quite a few years, I have some that are ten years old. The charger is speedy but low enough wattage to plug into a vehicle plugged inverter. The saw is fantastic, probably one of the best 6" battery saws on the market right now. Cuts easy and clean, then stops spinning immediately when you let off the trigger. It feels very safe to work fast and then set it down.

DeWalt Brushless Battery powered Circular Saw

I got this saw free when I bought the 20 volt batteries at Blain’s Farm & Fleet. It appears to be high quality and is not very heavy. I did install a battery and pulled the trigger. Response was very good and I was happy to see that the blade stopped spinning very quickly after releasing the trigger. I will be using this forsaw to do remodeling at my summer home in Colorado.I would recommend this saw to anyone who is looking for a quality saw. price was right. I purchased it online and picked it up through the drive thru lane in Janesville which made the purchase very easy.I would recommend Blain’s Farm & Fleet as they offer quality products at reasonable prices and their drive through option makes it very convenient to shop their fliers.I am in Beloit, WI.

Not for me

I absolutely love Dewalt power tools. However, for once I was not satisfied. I bought this on special with the free power stack battery and could not wait to tackle my next project. After a couple of cuts it would bog down easily so I changed to a fully charged 6ah battery (even though my original battery was fully charged as well.) I had the same problem and it did not matter 2x4, 4x4, 2x6 all had the same issue. Eventually returned for a refund.

Not the same quality I’m used to.

I’m a Dewalt gal…but. This is my third circular saw. First one lasted me 12 years and it was stolen…great saw. The one I replaced it with seized up in less than 30 days. Lowe’s replaced it…great customer service. The replacement is just not as good as my old one. The safety lever sticks, hard to depress. The saw has a hard time with the Dewalt long life blade (I won’t be buying that again). All in all I’m disappointed in this saw and am considering returning it before the 30 days is up. I’m going to try regular blade to see if it’s about the saw or the thicker blade.

Rest are Great

I purchased this saw about 2 years ago. Used very seldom. Worked great when needed. 2 days ago when when changing to a new blade for the fist time I noticed a small movement with the main motor housing bearing. This make the saw unusable. Very disappointed with this tool. In November 2022 I replaced all my woodworking cordless tools with new Dewalt brushless cordless tools. Can I buy a rebuild kit for this saw? I still gave 3 stars: Reason I still like the rest of my Dewalt tool. Maybe a just got a lemon on the 6 1/2 saw.

Saw blade does not line up with kirf

I am just at a loss here. Right out of the box, installed blade correctly and put it on the shelf. Then I finally needed the saw and made my cut. It was off about a quarter inch! After inspecting I noticed the blade is off to the left of the zero mark. There is no way to adjust. I'm not sure I can return it either as it's been over a month now. What happened Dewalt? My advice if you purchase. Check the blade immediately and make a cut or two right after you purchase. In one photo I put a hacksaw blade up against the saw blade and you can see how far off it is from the zero mark. What a shame the saw is light, comfortable and has an led light. But it won't cut where you want it to.

Updated review. I have many 20 volt Dewalt tools 11 and counting. They work well, no issues. I wrote a review about 2 weeks ago about a issue with my 6 1/2 inch saw. Bearing issue. This was on a Sunday morning. I received a email back from support. They asked for proof of purchase, pictures of saw,ect. 3 days later Dewalt ship me a replacement saw. Wow!!!!!Way to go Dewalt. You can’t see or handle the box until after purchase now, because of the high rate of shoplifting on tools. So we had to go back about the battery, only to find the price / item is only available on line, plus, that deal doesn’t include the charger for the battery. It is really getting complicated and expensive to buy battery operated tools, as all parts are sold separately and you need to make sure everything is compatible. Even for this tool, there are 2 battery options and each battery is charger specific. How did I learn this? Wasn’t from customer service at Home Depot. kinda nice saw

Just got this saw I think it has real potential, do not know how it cuts yet. but these are my very initial thoughts on it on right out of the box. the depth setting is poor, hard to read, the handle gets in the way for the smaller figures/depth, from 1/4" through to 1" very hard to see, which is where the saw will be of most use. I will be adding some marking colorant to the notch and bracket edge to help delineate depth marking, The way it is designed it tends to hide the moving mark, on mine, there are two marks on the steel, which dose not help. you have to have the saw in two different orientations, for small depth of cuts looks through the handle towards the blade, for deeper cuts you have look down at the handle, along the blade. I have been used to the Ryobi tools where depth setting is consistent, and readable from only one direction you do not need to tilt and turn the saw to see the depth markings, and the markings are clear and easy to see. What there is no rip guide? The rafter hook and balance is a little wanting, I have doubts that the hook will hold the tool it almost looks as if it was put on backwards, perhaps when on 2x wood it will pinch fit, it feels in hand that the tool will just fall off a horizontal board. Dang, give me light. not unreadable red lines (Ryobi's laser line hopeless in daylight), the light is great and will help in holding the line even in shade, or dark, Why put fractional points on the base, why not set the cut mark on a whole number, what the heck is 1 - 1/8? WHY? Put the blade 1 inch in from the edge of the base on one side and 4 inches on the other side not 1 -1/8 one side and 4-1/8 on the other? WHY? The best part of the whole tool Electric break, the major reason for getting this tool is it stops and stops fast. My Ryobi has a run-on of about 15 seconds. which is longer than several earlier Ryobi models. let the trigger go blade stops, and lifts upwards away from the cut. to be seen how that acts on cutting. The big reason for getting this tool alone. The next thing is the dust shute, makes attaching a vacuum to it possible, also, why take a notch out of the base just leave it square, the notch is not that big, but!!!!!!
