Blade not aligned with kerf guide

Bought this saw yesterday. Took it out of the box, installed the blade that came with it, and the cut is 1/8" to the right of the kerf guide. No provision to adjust this. It's like the wrong thickness arbor was installed on the motor, the blade is too far to the right, or the kerf guide is too far to the left. Otherwise, a very nice saw. Lightweight, powerful and quiet. Unfortunately, cannot produce accurate cuts without a properly aligned guide. Will be returning it today.

Good but has factory calibration issues

Flexvolt compatibility is nice and the main reason I went with this model. E-brake, ergonomic handle, and smooth bevelling mechanisms are good. Downside is the blade and baseplate aren't calibrated accurately (in typical DeWalt fashion). It's not a huge issue for me since I usually use the blade itself to line up the cut, but if you're use to using the plate, it'll be off by about 1/16th to 1/8th of an inch. DeWalt needs to step up their quality control because I've had factory defects with their table saw, batteries, and vacuums as well.

I prefer my atomic 4 1/2 over this saw.

I have completed 3 projects with this saw and I must say I will privately return b it to the store. This saw freezes or stops often and today I had to make 4 passes while cutting a 2x8. Simply not acceptable from Dewalt. My little Dewalt atomic 4.5 has been my go to for 3 years and it looks to be my go to for future needs as well. I’ve literally bought everything Dewalt has to offer from Home Depot and I was really disappointed by this saw.

Last Circular Saw you will BUY!!
28 March 2021

I bought this saw about a month ago, and wow is this the exact saw I needed/wanted. Let me first say that I had the standard XR version of this saw the DCS570 and I loved it!! Never really had the need to change from that saw, and I cut thousands of lineal feet with that thing and it still worked like the day I bought it. So why did I change, because when I cut stringers for deck builds, I have to pull out the trusty DeWalt CORDED version to make all the cuts. My small business has become religiously CORD-LESS and I wanted to continue that trend when it came time to cut stringers. Now, why not go to the 60v version, well because I don't need the 60v power all the time. My small business has become religiously CORD-LESS and I wanted to continue that trend when it came time to cut stringers. Now, why not go to the 60v version, well because I don't need the 60v power all the time. Most often, the power with a 5 amp battery on the saw is sufficient for 80% of my day, and with the FLEXVOLT ADVANTAGE crossover, now I can use my limited number of flexvolt batteries only when needed, and not have the need to invest in more batteries just to run a tool.Ok, I had to describe my point to why this saw is best, as another reviewer helped me make the jump based on a simple explanation like I stated........ Now the review, it is simple, BUY this thing if you are thinking of it!!! Price point, is spot on when compared to the cost of the lower priced tools. I even think the introduction of this tool had the saw and a 6 amp batt for $199 at some point. Performance is stellar!!! I can rip right through a 4x4 without a single drop or sound in the cutting capabilities seeming lost. As a test when I first got this thing, with the included saw blade, I ripped a piece of ASH wood about 3 ft long and 2 inches thick, I tried to stall this thing, and couldn't. (Well, from a safe amount of pressure that is). Cutting stringers, worry of the past!!! It has the same great balance most Dewalt products do, and is spot on.Now, nothing is perfect, so I have to be honest, but I cannot fault the tool for this only gripe. And it is minor..... because of the more powerful saw, and better built tool, it is on the heavy side when paired with the flexvolt batteries.....but hey, I knew this and cannot drop the review star rating for this, because better materials tend to weigh more in the construction world. In short, if you want it, don't stand on the fence if you are worried about the quality of this tool.

Shoe not aligned, pulls right, not square.
19 February 2023

Out of the box the shoe is not aligned. For normal 90 degree cuts, it pulled right on the first use with a new blade. Bought a 2nd new blade and tried that. Finally took calipers to measure and the shoe is misaligned by about 1/4" comparing front of blade to the back. I like the power and versatility of using different batteries, but you cannot get accuracy and precision with this out of the box. I can't find a way to adjust this and will need to buy another tool. The saw wasn't used and abused - it was defective out of the box.

This DeWalt battery powered saw exceeded my expectations. It is a very good tool and an effective replacement for electric corded saws for most uses. This is the first battery powered circular saw I have owned and it will now be my primary circular saw. I use the 20v 6.0AH Flex Volt batteries with the DCB115 charger. The batteries and charger did not come with the saw (purchased as “tool only”) and I had to separately purchase the batteries and charger. The wrench for attaching and removing the blade is contained in the tool near the battery compartment so it is always available when needed. There is a blade lock button for easy blade changes. The safety switch is in the handle and must be depressed to activate the blade trigger. I really like the blade brake as a safety feature. When the trigger is released, the brake activates immediately and quickly stops the blade rotation. The saw is powerful and performed as well as my electric corded saw. It easily cut each sample wood I tried, including composite material. The blade cut depth is about 2 7/8” and I cut through a 3” thick sample, to test if it would bind up or be sluggish when not cutting all the way through. No problem at all. The 6.0AH batteries, as previously indicated, are powerful and hold a charge for extended use. The manufacturer indicates that this saw is part of the “flex line” of tools that can use the same battery. That would permit tool only purchases if you already have batteries and charger, which is an added benefit.

I don’t haver any FlexVolt batteries yet, but this saw still performs well with my 4 and 5 Ah 20V XR batteries. Since I’m invested in the 20V Max platform, I have enough packs in my battery arsenal to keep the tool running as long as necessary. Given the FlexVolt batteries supposedly provide 77% more power for even faster cutting, I’ll upgrade some of my older packs soon. The saw is well appointed with a nice rulered shoe and bevel/angle indicator, rafter hook, on board wrench storage, bright LED, and comfortable handle. It came with a 7 1/4” 24 teeth framing blade, so I was able to unbox it and get right to work.My first use was cutting 8’ long pieces of 1” thick, finished plywood. The saw cuts accurately, visibility is good, and the blade stops fast once the trigger is depressed (electric break system). Cuts were fast enough with an XR battery and I didn’t feel the tool bogging down. I did notice the batteries got pretty warm after each cut though. I wish I’d counted the number of cuts made per XR battery, but I believe it was approximately seven or 8, 8’ cuts with the 4.0 AH XR battery. I can only imagine how powerful and fast it will cut with a 60V FlexVolt battery. The only downsides I see with this tool is that it didn’t come with a fence or storage bag/case. And to be nit picky, I’d love it if (1) DeWalt could figure out how to make the fuel gauge on the pack visible when it’s mounted on the saw; and (2) the shoe had a little lip on the front and back to prevent it from sliding under a guide when cutting slightly warped plywood.Brushless design and DeWalt’s usual warranty… can’t go wrong with tool! Another nice DeWalt tool!

[Rewarded Review] Shoe not square
4 February 2024

I bought this to replace another cordless dewalt circular saw that was not giving me enough power anymore. It has plenty of power out of the box but unfortunately has the same issue as many other reviews here. The shoe is offset by 1/8in from the saw so it is hard to make accurate cuts. Even worse, when ripping the blade is not square with the shoe so it starts to get bound up by the material you are cutting which can get dangerous. I went back to my old saw because this one just doesn't work.

This DeWalt DCS573B 7-1/4" Circular Saw when paired with the newer Flexvolt batteries eliminates the need for a power cord and extension cords. It's not a scaled down saw from any aspect. It is powerful, delivering 5,500 RPM. In one direction it is capable of up to a 45 degree angle cut; and 22.5 degree in the opposite.Missing is the parallel fence and hold down screw. Included is a self-storing wrench for blade changes. The little wrench is fairly short and not all that useful as I could not get enough leverage to loosen the bolt using it. On any job, a proper sized wrench or socket is readily available. I have two DeWalt circular saws but this saw requires a different fence. At some point in the future I hope DeWalt decides to include the fence, an essential part of every circular saw. Most circular saw owners have their preferred variety of blades for various types of material and finish. The 24 tooth framing blade included with this bare tool would not be my choice. On the sample cut, a significant amount of paint from the blade came off.Overall I am very favorably impressed with this saw. I plan to make it my "go to" saw; and leave the cord behind.

This Flexvolt cordless could be a replacement for your corded circular saw. This review is for the bare tool, so that means there is no battery or charger included. I am a very capable DIYer, not a builder, so I can’t comment on daily use and longevity. I tested this saw on pressure treated lumber which is more challenging for a saw than your typical dried lumber.First thing to note- this saw is heavy once you add the flexvolt battery; It’s a little lighter with a traditional 20 volt, but not enough to really matter. With battery it weighs in at 11 pounds, that is 2 pounds more than a similar competitor’s model using the same 9 amp battery. Carrying this up and down a ladder may be a consideration for you. This model includes an installed rafter hanger, which was pretty useful. I was able to hang the saw on lumber while I measured, etc, which eliminates the up and down or tripping on the saw accidentally. The included blade was ok for rough work, it is a thin kerf blade which was difficult to track straight on wet lumber, but was fine on dried 2x6's .This saw operated as well as my corded saw during my test cuts . I did go a little slower but I did not baby the cuts. Operating time will vary by the battery you use and amp hours, so my run time may be different than yours. I was able to make 39 cuts on a charge using a 9 amp flexvolt batteryThis is a really nice saw and I like that this accepts standard 7 1/4 inch blades, You can purchase a similar kit with 2 batteries which you may want to consider, but if you already have other dewalt tools this is a great way to add a really useful additiona that I am sure you will use often
