The ECR is the true definition of the classic finned radiator thanks to its traditional fin design. It boasts super-fast warm up times when compared to oil filled equivalents thanks to its patented Thermocore Oil-free technology which offers up to 9% energy savings compared to traditional Oil-filled radiators*. In addition as there is no oil it is an eco-friendly alternative to oil filled radiators. To aid dexterity this portable radiator features large rotary controls that are easy to adjust, whilst the three heat settings and adjustable thermostat enable closer control of heat for economical running. The integrated 24 hour digital timer features 4 programme periods per day and has battery back up so will remember its settings in an event of a power cut. Portability is easier thanks to easy glide castors, integrated carry handle and because it is oil free, is lighter than oil filled direct equivalents. Safety is paramount, with overheat protection and tilt switch system fitted which cuts the power if accidentally knocked over. Again thanks to its patented oil free technology there are no risks of leaks or ruptures. The ECR has been independently approved to Europe's highest product safety standard (BEAB certification) and comes with a 3 year guarantee (registration required). *Based on a 2kW ECR heating a room from 10°C to 22°C, maintaining 22°C for 5 hours and then switched off versus 2kW Oil-filled column radiator. This product is only suitable for well insulated spaces or occasional use.

The all-time low was $183.50 on 5 Mar 2026 — today's price is 36% above the lowest ever. It has been notably cheaper before — worth setting a price alert.

Easy to install. Digital reading timer not easy to set unless sat down on floor. Now use in manual mode and keep on low all day/night. Had trouble registering for online 3 year warranty as the product has no serial number. I had to call the help desk and was told to use the Series letter (which was A ) as the serial number. In my opinion I can see many customers giving up on the 3 year registration due to difficulty in completing details.

I dont have this heater very long but I am happy with it so far. Controls are simple to operate and it makes such a difference to the temperature in my working kitchen. The mains lead is longer than my last heater which means a lot. No more need for an extension lead.Very satisfied with this Dimplex Heater.

A brilliant heater. As one other reviewer says, when on full the fins get far too hot to put your hand on even at the bottom. With regard to the criticism that unplugging it to move it to different room loses the timer settings, the Operating Instructions clearly state that once the heater has been on for 72 hours the internal battery is fully charged and will retain the settings when unplugged for up to 6 months. The only minor criticism I do have is that the timer settings are difficult to read in poor light, the LCD display having no backlight. Not helped by the bright red "On" light being positioned just above the timer window.Otherwise thoroughly recommended. It wouldn't be a Which Best Buy if it were no good.

Bought this particular brand as a family member highly recommended it. I searched around to get the best price and screwfix beat them all. It's lightweight, it's quiet unlike oil filled radiators, options to put a timer on and it heats up quickly. Unfortunately i had a bad experience with the delivery as parcel force tried to deliver it at a different address, so that was stressful but I got it eventually.I also registered my radiator in the dimplex website which secured a three year guarantee.
I'm using this heater to heat my workshop. Does a lovely job keeping it warm and is much more efficient that the space heater I had been using. Took about an hour to warm the workshop from 4C to about 16C. Only thing that really disappointed me are the wheels. This is quite an expensive heater and dimplex are supposed to be a quality brand but the wheels it comes with may as well be legs. Even on the smooth leveled floor of the workshop the wheels seem to just drag.
I've only had the heater for a few days butI am very happy with my purchase. The unit is compact and easy to move as on castors. It is very efficient - much better than I expected. I still need to test the timer facility and check the electricity consumption, but very happy so far. Collected in store next day.
Pros: Size, style weight, ease of movement and efficient heat production.Cons: Wish the cable connection to the heater was on the opposite side the controls so the cable could be neatly out on the way, But I understand it needs to be connected to the control panel.
Pros: It is lighter than a similar oil-filled radiatorCons: It would be useful if the light would indicate whether the heater is currently heating (ie the thermostat has been triggered), rather than simply showing that the heater is switched on.
This is not a radiator, it's a very expensive convection heater. It doesn't replace the oil with something else, it does away with the whole circulating fluid system and substitutes a large element hidden in the fins of a radiator-lookalike. As a result it radiates no heat, and instead sends a column of hot air up to the ceiling. You can sit right next to it and get no benefit from it. The fins are hot at the very top, but remain cool to the touch at the sides. You can buy convection heaters for a third of the price that do the same thing, and are better as they are lower to the ground. In addition, the digital timer loses all its settings if you unplug it to move it to another room, which makes it substantially less useful than expected. It's also really expensive ... MoreThis is not a radiator, it's a very expensive convection heater. I brought this to supplement heating a cold room. Easily programmable and warms up very effectively and does the job. Looks good but not sure on running costs yet but hoping to not need as it gets warmer!!
