Drakkar Noir Eau De Toilette Spray by Guy Laroche - 100 ml
The power of a pure perfume. An olfactory reference for men of action, charm and natural seduction. If there were a fragrance of conquest and exploration, Drakkar noir by Guy Laroche would be an eau that perfectly embodies the civilized Viking man. Between raw power and refined delicacy, the fragrance proposes a subtle masculinity, anchored of course on intense woody notes. Cedar and vetiver are part of the game, as in any perfume for men claiming a certain animal sensuality, but the particularity of Drakkar is to propose a note of oak moss, propelling the perfume in the thick forests of the Nordic countries. It reminds us of the origins of these warriors, bringing them back to their mystical woods and underlining in the essence a culture deeply turned towards nature. In the heart, lavender, coriander, juniper berry and angelica offer a sweetness and depth that shows a viking man in control of himself, an ideal kind that will seduce the in-laws, and make a myriad of butterflies dance in the belly of his sweet. To attack Drakkar, the perfume proposes dynamic notes of lemon and tangerine, as if to recall that the Viking jumps from his boat with speed, storms onto the beach and the villages, before taking possession of the new lands he explores. His background is masculine, his heart is sensual, his head is conquering, this is the balance of the Viking according to Guy Laroche, who signs here an essence of masculinity, modern and timeless. A great classic in the 80s and 90s, this men's fragrance remains a must for those who wish to embody this paradoxical man, between feigned brutality and concealed tenderness.

This was my favorite perfume for a very long time. I love the bottle because its much darker than most of the other bottles I have. Very vampy without looking gothic. The scent is sensual without being overbearing I can wear it during the day without feeling like its too much, but I could see how others might prefer it as an evening scent. Its a gorgeous balance of warm musky amber and pepper with this thread of a sweetened floral running throughout. Not too sweet this isnt a brown sugary vanillay kind of sweet, but like youve just walked by a gardenia bush or something and got a whiff of it in the breeze. Really really nice. Anna Wintour is quoted as saying that Armani dresses the wife and Versace dresses the mistress I feel like this perfume is powerfully sexy and independent, just like the Versace woman. Frangratica lists this as having a big coconut presence, which is funny because I honestly hadnt noticed until after reading that description but it does have that almost tropical, kind of exotic sweetness. Its not going to make you smell like coconut oil though. Ive found this to be more long lasting than other Versace perfumes, particularly on clothes rather than my skin. I also think the radius of the smell I think this is called sillage is pretty big on this one, so be careful to not overdo it unless youre prepared to answer a lot of What are you wearing, you smell so good questions. Overall, a definite perfume favorite for me. Reminds me a bit of a more muskypeppery and coconuty version of the MM Replica Whispers in the Library if you like that.

The holiest of holy grail perfumes. Seriously, I cant think of a perfume I enjoy more, at least nonindie perfumes while I primarily enjoy the indie market for perfumes and scents, this EDP got me started on fragrances. Ive had it in my collection for over a decade now I got my first bottle on a cruise ship in 08, fell in love, used it to death, got a second bottle, and now I use it primarily for special occasions since the scent has such a strong memory to it. This was my wedding day perfume. The undertone is a little heavy, with the patchouli base note overtaking the vanilla base. Once its sat for a few minutes on the skin, the rose and violet really come through, though its not overwhelmingly floral thanks to the cocoa blossom.
