I used this attachment tool on my replacement deck boards, when finishing up the prep work before installation. This tool was very helpful in smoothing out a knot on one edge of the replacement board. I didn't want to use my larger sander on that area, as it was too close to the edge and may have caused the board to splinter. The EZ407SA really helped take care of the problem! I especially like the quick change for the sanding drums!Dremel has provided me this product in exchange for an honest review.

The dremel ez change sanding band holder is a great mandrel for sanding tasks. You can effortless change the band for a new or the grit type with tool free easy. I personally haven't had any problems with the bands come off, don't know if they changed from the earlier modeled but works like a charm for me. The sanding bands combined with a variable speed rotary tool comes in handy for sanding in tight narrow spots .Dremel has provided me this product in exchange for an honest review

This product has been extremely useful and effective. I use the Dremel mandrels quite often and the older style rubber drum with center screw was not working well for me. They were hard to adjust, needed a screwdriver, and I often times could not get the sanding bands to fit snuggly. This is much quicker and more secure. Overall a great purchase.

I needed a replacement mandrel for my Dremel, this item worked perfectly. I had to sand intricate filigree during a dresser restoration and this just the item for the task.
The EZ drum mandrel should have been recalled. the sanding drum slips off all the time and there is no way to tighten it. You have to go back to the older mandrel where you screw it tight. Bummer! I want my money back but it's been too long ago that I bought it. It's just been sitting in my drawer not being able to use it.
Definitely makes swapping new sanding bands on the tool much faster. Only down side is that this can not get as good of grip on the sanding drum and they fall off much easier if you are using it on something with high speed. This is great for someone doing small projects around the house or maybe for arts and crafts. I was using this for sanding/porting an intake manifold and the bands kept slipping off because I had the tool on the fastest speed plus I was using a lot of force on the thing I was sanding.
The concept is very good, however, the only direction is a diagram on the package that shows a sanding band lifted from the drum. After wearing out one sanding band, I tried replacing it with the attachment off of my Dremel tool, I was unable to get the sanding band off. I re - installed the attachment to the tool and locked in place, the sanding band was easily lifted off when attached to the Dremel. Dremel has provided me this product in exchange for an honest review.The convenience provided by this is amazing compared to needing to unscrew the small flat head screw on the original sanding drum holder, change to a new one, and retighten. Makes swapping to a new sanding drum a task that takes a couple seconds and completely tool free!
Like others here, I bought this desoite the negative reviews thinking it can't be that bad> I have bought tools before that just need to be fitted correctly. I had exactly the same problems as many others here,. The sanding bit keeps riding up and coming off. I went back to the old tool with the screw and the washer. Some people clearly had some success with their tool, so it is possible manufacturinbg variations are the cause. I made sure to by genusine dremel sanding bits as well.
These are easy to use and changeout the sanding bands without needing a tool. However, the plastic pieces that expand the rubber part to hold the bands wear out causing the sanding bands to slip.
