A great mini drill press for a very low price

An inexpensive, small-scale version of a shop drill press. It's very versatile: good height range, lots of adjustments, easy to install your Dremel (or similar) tool in the holder. (The holder fits my Dremel tool perfectly: no wobble, no looseness.)A fair number of parts are plastic (everything blue in the picture), but they are sturdy enough for the intended applications.Works great for modelling, fine mechanical projects, jewelry, and other projects involving smallish objects, but it's not made to hold a full-size drill nor for drilling that requires significant pressure. The price was a very pleasant surprise: this is far, far less than even the cheapest regular drill press, and I doubt that even an equivalent DYI drill press for a Dremel tool could be built ... MoreAn inexpensive, small-scale version of a shop drill press. Absolute rubbish I expected far better than this

Absolutely do not buy this piece of junk. Your Dremel will only attach at the bottom and the vibration even at low revs will result in a conical spin to your drill bits, in addition the stand is NOT fixed in the center position and rotates which makes it very hard to drill anything dead center. The build quality is subpar and a lot of the unit is plastic. Save your money and buy a proper drill press this thing just does not cut the mustard. I watched a review for it which was all glowing and it was only after I brought it that I found the problems.

Don't expect to do precision work with this stand.

Given the price, it could be a worthy purchase, but for function, it is limited. Like most Dremel attachments, it does not work with all makes of rotary tools. But the real issue is that it does not adjust easily. It can take some effort to get the drill centered exactly over the base but if you must adjust the height, that centered position can easily be lost. Precision is difficult, if not almost impossible. It does not come with clamps for the base, although it does provide suggestions to the user on how to fabricate your own. Trying to find a vice for the stand this small has proven futile. The final verdict for my own needs is simply that it is not designed for precision work. The design is lacking. I'd gladly pay more for a better design that would provide ... MoreGiven the price, it could be a worthy purchase, but for function, it is limited. Dremel Drill Press - The Perfect Accessory
26 June 2023

I have always needed a drill press. When I got the Dremel tool and saw that a drill press was available for it, my needs were finally fulfilled. The size is perfect for my needs! Thank you Dremel!

Like having an extra hand.

Improves the accuracy of drilling and grinding. Makes sanding and polishing less tiresome. Could be sturdier. The plastic cup that the tool sits in is a bit too wobbly and can twist because of the torque when working with hard woods or soft metals. It would be better if this part was made of metal.

Poor Engineering
15 August 2018

The entire point of a drill press is ensure you can get your hole drilled repeatedly in the same place on multiple objects. The way this “Workstation” is constructed the only thing it competently does is hold on to your Dremel and gives you a cute rack to hold Dremel accessories. I found I had to personally modify this “Workstation” to get it to function as a proper press. It does not secure the tail portion of the Dremel against the “Workstation” in order for it to drill straight down. Instead it drills at an angle if not modified and secured by the operator. Plus the control arm does not force the aim the Dremel to the center plate X. This must be always had adjusted which is a serious design flaw as well.

Steadies the hand nicely for small work

I build models of trains and buildings for train layouts in all scales. As I get older, I'm not as steady. Not wanting to snap off tiny drill bits, I bought this drill press attachment. Since it takes a bit of effort to install the Dremel and to take it back out again, I bought a spare corded Dremel inexpensively on eBay and have permanently mounted it in the press. The only short coming is the Dremel drill chuck does not handle the tiniest number drills. I have a full size precision drill press for these rare tasks. For everyday model building it's always ready and very handy. Without the drill press you need to hold the work in a vise and the tool with two hands due to its torque. Usefull . . . but not perfect by any means

Actually 3.5 stars I think . . . . and the recommendation is with some reservations. Not used as a 'drill press' yet but the fact that the mount rotates already indicates that perfectly perpendicular holes will need 'care and attention' so as to not have the drill off vertical. It makes an OK stand for using the flex shaft attachment (though cheaper option OBVIOUSLY exist. The one thing I did find it useful for was with a sanding drum as a mini drum sander for small parts. The construction seems OK with the vertical stand being a hollow metal rod (clamped into the base with a screw), the base being aluminum? and all the 'moving parts' are metal. Very Satisfied

I read all of the available reviews before purchasing and did so with a bit of caution. I had none of the myriad difficulties described by the purchaser "Savageseas." I had the Work Station assembled in about 10 to 15 minutes. I failed to see how the presence of a hex nut in lieu of a square nut negatively impacted assembly. The nut is large enough to restrain it when tightening the associated bolt. My only struggle while inserting the pole was holding the base such that gravity holds this nut and bolt clear.Like purchaser “Robb,” I planned to use this product to drill holes in copper-clad FRP laminate when making printed circuit boards. My only struggle while inserting the pole was holding the base such that gravity holds this nut and bolt clear.Like purchaser “Robb,” I planned to use this product to drill holes in copper-clad FRP laminate when making printed circuit boards. I, too, had trouble with the 1/32” bits “walking” but discovered that the problem in my case was largely due to the bits not being straight; the bits not having centered tips; the bearing in the Dremel 325-2 being loose in the tool housing; and not currently having the means to run the tool at a much lower speed. To minimized bit wobble, I trimmed the shaft of the bits so I could insert them as far as possible into the chuck, leaving only about 1/8” of the bit exposed. I also took apart the tool and shimmed the bearing by wrapping a narrow strip of masking tape around the bearing so the tool housing could tightly grip it.So far I am very satisfied with the Work Station. I have successfully manufactured several circuit boards and using the Work Station has enabled me to overcome the limitations of my bits.

I know there are mixed reviews on this but I have to say I love it. yes some pieces are plastic, thats true... but were not talking about Tonka toys plastic, this is quality material, and a quality build. I love it, and have it bolted right up to my workbench top. I have my bits close by in a handy bit holder located on the top of the unit. its versatile, and if you are wondering I have used my orange rotary tool that I got here from Walmart aswell. fits perfectly fine..all in all, 5/5 highly recommended for the great value at price point (purchased on sale)
