This mat is vinyl. Be aware that it may stick to the shipping tube. I appreciate the added board space, the 3 included sculpts for the storm, shai hulud, and the destroyed shield wall (mushroom cloud) are the same that were "exclusive", just in brown. I am disappointed that the mat does not have spaces for the advanced rules of double spice blows.

I've played Dune on both the standard board and on this mat. I have to say, the mat was a great improvement especially when playing with over 4 players. The standard board is just too small to accommodate that many players. This mat is well worth it and appears to be of good quality.

Even so I'm really glad to have it. Especially since it comes with the Tokens that were only available previously with the Barnes and Noble version.

I recently started playing the Dune base game with its excellent mounted map. The larger mat not only makes it easier to accommodate six players, it doesn't curl up along the edges. The minis add a little more flavor than the cardboard tokens, and it really stood out at a recent convention.
The playmat is not a mouse pad this playmat, it is however still durable, and lays flat easily. The map is bigger than the original Dune board, so the Shield Wall piece doesn’t fit as snug as it does on the originally map. The miniatures match the size for the original board but can be substituted on the larger map. The mushroom cloud will likely be substituted on the larger map for the punch out piece from the base game, as the punch out piece doesn’t fit the enlarge area on the new map. The mini worm mouth piece is not as big as the phase indicator spaces either, but does fit the inner ring portion of the circle so not a big deal; it works just fine. The storm cloud doesn’t fit snug, but also not really a problem either. It is exactly what you would expect for the price. It's vinyl, so fairly thin. It's nice having a bigger mat to play on. One issue is it doesn't include a space for a second spice blow.The print quality is fine, but not quite as good as the board.The two reasons above take it down from 5 stars to 4.On the plus side, it does come with a plastic storage tube and the miniatures are great for those that didn't get them during the preorder.
Vibrant map, but its a thin style. Paper/poster thin. It came some miniatures which was cool. The brightness and clarity of the map is great as has its own tube. The material is very thin and is unlikely to hold up long term without great care.
Really a wasted purchase. GF9 have just increased the size of the the original image and printed it out on vinyl. It's pixelated and the colour is terrible. What they call 'Vibrant'. I call No colour correction. Just don't bother. Maybe for $20 but even then you wouldn't use it because the image quality is just rubbish

This mat is great when you hit a higher player count. A game like this needs space and this does help provide it. It does add a nice table presence and makes it easier to see & read everything.
