I never received my book that I ordered. I messaged the seller a few days before my item was suppose to arrive and never got a response. The book was never even shipped.\n\nUpdate: I received my book after my original review. The book is in great condition so far. The seller still never responded and no tracking number was attached unfortunately so I won’t be going to increase my rating above 3 stars at this point.

The content of the book itself is fantastic but the quality was listed as "Excellent" when in reality it had stains and water damage throughout.

Good condition. But nor sure how useful it is as not current edition and does not cover my character

Very useful, as an extended resource, but it is a bit vague in spots and does not give complete details of some things mentioned. Apparently, you must have players guide also. That may clear things up it seems.

More than I expected

A true review of this product would take many hours and many pages, so let's cut to the short version.As an old-school D&Der, I went in with many reservations. The new edition of the game, with all fairness, looks to be much better than I expected, and not the travesty that some had led me to believe. At the same time, I don't feel it is the perfect next-step in D&D evolution.The game looks decidedly fun. It's got a lot of great options. It seems simple to play while allowing many strategic options. They succeeded in creating a game where no player is left without useful actions during combat. I've seen complaints about the artwork, but I thought it was fine.On the other hand, some things they added (Dragonborn as a player race, backstories of Dragonborn and Tiefling empires in the race descriptions, etc.) were annoyingly high magic and setting-specific. While a home-brew campaign can rule these things out, I didn't really like them as part of the core rules. Some of the economics behind the creation vs. purchasing of magic items or purchasing vs. coping rituals did not make any sense. Casting time for some a few of the rituals seemed too long for them to be useful. Finally, some things were removed or altered which gave previous editions the distinct D&D feel, such as alterations to alignment and the requirement of miniatures in play. I have many problems with the game, but most of them are small and more flavor-oriented. There's not enough room to list them here.All in all, it appears to be a great game for telling the stories of great adventures. For the changes to game flavor, it still seems like it should be called "a game inspired by Dungeons and Dragons" or "a companion game to Dungeons and Dragons,"but while it goes its own course, it does so in a mostly enjoyable way.

Not Needed

Hasbro/WotC have given us yet another new version of DnD. Frankly, I understand their desire to make money and continue to grow the game. But they could have done more than this. It is more like a video game now. Many I have spoken with say that it seems Hasbro has fashioned a game built more like TORG than DnD. Only TORG was a better Game than this.Perhaps I am too critical. But, I wish I had spent my money on something else. At least I didn't pay full price at a gaming store. My advice...stick with the 3.5 rules.

Top Quality and Packed With Information

At first I was a bit hesitant because of the price of the book, but when I got it I was pleasantly surprised at both the quality of the book and the amount of information inside. It's a hardcover with hundreds of glossy pages with dozens of extremely high quality illustrations. It also covers just about every facet of D&D that you would ever want to know to let you start playing. With this book, some dice, and the Dungeon Masters Guide you can start your own campaign.

Would buy this product again & more like it.
