Playing this game for the first time was interesting. I had high hopes as I've liked the other D&D board games. I found the command mechanic to be interesting, and I liked that each race had it's own agenda to follow. The pieces were neat, too, and it's pretty cool to see giants stomping around the "little folk" world!I would say that you really need to know the agendas of your enemies to properly counter them. We didn't have much combat, so we probably could have got into more fights which would have slowed some of the plunder/ravaging that occurred. The game moved quick (4 players), and I'm not sure why. (Perhaps more combat would have slowed some things down). We each only did one rest the entire game as we built up our command line/combos. Also, I feel like ... MorePlaying this game for the first time was interesting. I had high hopes as I've liked the other D&D board games. Also, I feel like there should be a hand limit on resource cards instead of having players sit on a big pile (because if you don't have much to force a trade, you're not going to get something you need anyhow).Overall it was fun, and the value was average; big box games go for this amount, but I guess I'm just nostalgic for the days when games were a bit more affordable--especially when there are so many good ones!

This is one of the best area control games I have played. Every race of Giants has its own flavor and goals that greatly play into the them of Storm King's Thunder. The mechanism for issuing orders is novel and encourages players to plan ahead, and not simply run willy-nilly across the board. The game is eminently playable with two players despite the box stating 3-5. In fact, I contacted the designer and the game was designed to work with two players. The components are gorgeous and of good quality. I recommend you not pass this one up, if you are a fan of Dungeons & Dragons, or area control games.

Very pleased with the condition of the product especially since it was used. Very nice!
This box contains 2 miniatures of each giant (Storm, Cloud, Frost, Hill, Fire, Stone) and 3 player miniatures. The giant miniatures all have a nice big size to them and the player miniatures are much smaller (maybe 10-20% smaller than the average wizkids sized player figure) to help capture the size difference between a medium sized humanoid and a Giant. The board is nice, miniatures are nice, lots and lots of pieces to pop out.Only issue i have with the game is that the box doesnt have a defined storage space built in for all the pop out pieces so I bagged them separately and box closes fine with the pieces bagged an on top of the miniatures plastic "holder".Overall great set in terms of miniatures and feel. Have not played through the game yet, but very ... MoreThis box contains 2 miniatures of each giant (Storm, Cloud, Frost, Hill, Fire, Stone) and 3 player miniatures. Don't let the D&D branding detract you from the fact that this is a deeply strategic game. This is a great area control game with a Command Card system and simplified dice-rolling that offers streamlined combat. The asymmetric clans are well balanced and each player will take different paths to victory, ensuring a unique play each time. Excellent components and art.

Dungeons & Dragons Assault of The Giants Board Game Standard Edition
Assault of the Giants is a new Dungeons and Dragons board game designed by Andrew Parks. Designed for 36 players, Assault of the Giants challenges players to command one of the six types of giants and claim the right to rule over all giantkind. Command giants and assault settlements to score points and secure important resources, including food, treasure, ore, and runes. Contents include 12 Giants miniatures, injection molded in color, measuring from approximately 20 mm to over 90 mm in height, and three Giantslayers! Each player issues commands to his or her giants in the form of command cards (recruit, move, attack, pillage, and so on). This allows players to recruit new giants, send them out to attack settlements and other giants, and also to pursue special agendas based upon their race. For example, the Storm Giants seek to restore their lost monarch, King Hekaton. The Cloud Giants seek an ancient dragon treasure trove, and the Hill Giants seek an abundance of food with which to feed their massive monarch, Chief Guh. In Assault of the Giants players send their giants out to wage war on each other and the small folk, but the game's real strategy lies in each player's ability to pursue their giant race's unique agenda, not only through combat but also through clever cardplay.
