I have had this for about a month, and while I was skeptical I had made the right decision at first, I am now very happy with my purchase. I own about robotic vacuum of a different brand, and it is fine for the top floor of my house where there is only hardwood, but downstairs where I have carpet, it simply couldn't cut it. I live in a farm and I have a housedog and so I am constantly searching for ways to help me keep my house clean and free up time in my life I would otherwise spend cleaning. This does the trick. In comparison to my other robotic vacuum, this vacuum seems slow, but it's because it does a far better job. When I arrive home after work, I do a quick check to make sure my dog hasn't left any surprise obsatoon the floor, and then I set my Dyson loose. ... It takes the Dyson two full charges to clean my entire basement, around 5 hours but it does an excellent job. I have been doing a quick check with my regular vacuum every weekend to see if the robot is getting everything, and my regular vacuum is picking up only minimal quantities of dirt. My only gripe is that this vacuum doesn't get right to the edge of the room and seems to think it's stuck when it goes into narrow areas in my room like under the edge of the coffee table beside the wall. With a few navigation tweaks, this could very well be the best robotic vacuum on the market.

I have tried her on carpet, hardwood, ceramic tile and linoleum. She does a great job on all surfaces and I am amazed at the amount she picks up each time. I have tried the app and the scheduled cleanings and once I figured out how to set the correct time zone, it worked perfectly. The only cons are the following (and some of these are obvious): 1) She can not do stairs. I have been very paranoid around the stairs because, while she does have sensors to stop her from a fall, the instructions say to keep her from stairs. I have tested her on a single step and she stopped at it perfectly but a fall would definitely damage the slightly flimsy plastic casing, at the very least. 2) She cannot do crevices or get all the way up against the wall. 3) The plastic casing does ... You definitely need to empty it every time you use it. 6) The 'activity' tab on the app provides a map of where the machine cleaned after a cleaning session is complete but once it only showed a part of the cleaning even though I know it had completed the room. I'm not sure if this was due to spotty wifi or because the battery was low and had to recharge in the middle of the session. 7) The sunshine in my sunroom can be very bright. The machine's sensors actually read the sunlight/shadows of the window panes on the floor as boundaries that it has to follow. Now, having said that, it has really impressive suction, it is quiet for a vacuum, and it is extremely convenient. If you have ever owned or witness one of those other robot vacuums or mops, the intelligence of the mapping and motion on this one will blow you away. I have had the vacuum for a little over a week and have used it everyday. I would definitely recommend this.

It seems really well made and i feel like it is on par with what I have come to expect from Dyson products. There are only 2 parts to the 360, the docking pad and the Vacuum itself. both are really easy to setup. The Dock just plugs in an outlet and you set the vacuum on the dock for its initial charging. Dyson recommends you download the app for your phone and synch the 360 with it to help monitor the vacuum. The app setup was not very easy for me. It took quite a few trys to get the vacuum to sync with the app, and to get the vacuum to sync with my wifi. It turns out that the 360 needs to be quite close to the router for the initial setup to get it to join your wifi. Once i figured that part out, everything seems to work great. The app is simple to use and provides some cool information on your vacuum and its cleaning schedule and area.Once the setup and charging were completed, we set it for its first cleaning mission. I’ll tell you, this thing really sucks…i mean it literally sucks up everything. We were pleasantly surprised to see that this little vacuum was picking up every single piece of dirt, hair, lint, anything in its path is sucked up into its bin. It works really really well. It will get stuck on things like socks, underwear, soft dog toys etc, so you have to be sure your floor is picked up. But as for dirt and normal things you would use a Swiffer or regular vacuum on, it works really great. So far in our use, we have only found 2 downsides, the battery life and the collection bin size and lack of “full” sensor. The battery life is mediocre it will run for about an hour before it needs to be re-charged. But i will say this about the re-charging, the 360 takes care of this by itself. It will literally stop cleaning and make its way back to the charging dock to get more juice. Its really cool and kind of funny to watch. But the lack of battery makes it take quite a bit of time to get the whole house cleaned. The dust bin is also quite small, I’m not sure how Dyson could’ve fixed this but they should have at least added a sensor to let you know when its full. I will say it is also a bit noisy, but if you have it run during the day when you are at work, its no big deal.Overall we are super happy with this little vacuum and look forward to using it into the foreseeable future. It rolls over any terrain making the transition from our carpets to our hardwoods and it does a fantastic job of navigating around furniture. the Dyson suction tech, you have come to know and love, translates really well to this little vacuum too, it will get your floors really clean. I would suggest maybe adding a dust bin sensor and multiple docking stations in future models, so it can re-charge in different rooms and get back to cleaning faster. My wife and i also laughed that it felt a little like we had a new pet in the house, because it does seem to have some robot personality and is completely self sustaining accept for emptying the dust bin.

Had this around a week now. First let me just say this thing cleans really, really well. It's easy to clean, much easier than that other brand that rhymes with bah, mostly I just pull out the brush, snip the hair wrapped around it length ways with scissors, and pull (I don't have pets but I have a long hair that gets all over the floor it turns out.) I'm really pleased with it. Having it purposefully plan the clean rather than hoping it randomly gets everywhere makes a big difference imho. Also, it is quiet for a vacuum. I hate the sound of vacuums, I really can't stand to be in the same room, but this little guy doesn't really bother me.There are issues:1. the app for some reason won't save the time zone, so you have to time math when setting your schedules. I hate the sound of vacuums, I really can't stand to be in the same room, but this little guy doesn't really bother me.There are issues:1. the app for some reason won't save the time zone, so you have to time math when setting your schedules. I expect that will get fixed eventually. Also there are a ridiculous number of cities in the time zone options, so it is actually a bit harder than usual to find the correct one.2. it has got fixated on the top of my staircase. It will sitting there turning on, then off and thinking a while before doing over. That happened once and I left it maybe 20 minutes or so before I paused it and flipped it to face away from the stairs.3. It fell down the stairs once :( I had moved it during a stair fixation session, I walk away and a little while later I hear the tumble down a short flight.4. it can get stuck under my furniture. I have a coffee table with a low shelf with slatted metals bars, it manages this, but takes quite a while because its nose has a tendency to lift up when it moves forward. What it is less able to deal with is my sofa that is just high enough that if it approaches at the right angle it will get under, getting out is another matter. There's a protrusion at the front which I guess is designed to gauge height so the eye dome doesn't hit something, that protrusion is the thing that gets snagged.5. Once it seems it got lost in my bathroom, it was at the end of a corridor that forms a U that the other end of which would be its way to home base. I didn't watch what it was doing but it hung out in there for a good while and I noticed it had its return to base lights on. Otherwise the navigation back to base is spot on, it heads directly back (with an obstacle full course of furniture no less)Now, for some wishes:1. I don't mind that a full clean can take hours and hours (45-50 mins cleaning, then 2 hours 45 mins charge, repeat cycle), but I would like to see a more sophisticated scheduling system with "windows" for cleaning, so that say, a clean started on Monday at 9am, will not go passed 10am, but what is left to clean will wait for the next cleaning window - maybe Tues at 9am-10am. That way I don't have to worry about whether the vacuum will start up during a dinner party because it hadn't quite finished cleaning, and I also don't have the same bits of the house cleaned while others are ignored because I have to cancel its clean due to it being inconvenient.2. I'd like to be able to section off areas, or include areas to be cleaned in the app - maybe using the map that gets generated after a clean. In all I'm really pleased with this. The problems, well, I hope they get worked out with software updates.
As a bit of background, we have three shedding dogs and a decent size open plan ground floor with a lot of furniture in it. As such we have been looking at robot vacuums for some time as a means to keeping the tumble-fur at bay. We have owned two-lower end robot vacuums over the last couple of years and found them to be problematic in that they both ended up tangled up in rugs, filled up very quickly (and then deposited hair balls in their trail) and neither of them EVER made it back to the base they were supposed to find.We own several other Dyson products and were eagerly anticipating the launch of the 360 Eye as we like the Dyson efficiency, design and the ability to easily access parts that might need cleaning or unblocking. We have been using the Dyson 360 ... We have been using the Dyson 360 Eye for several days now. It took a little getting used to at first but now we love it and it is light years ahead of the others we tried.Setting up was a breeze. It took about 15 mins and probably would have been less if I'd read the simple instructions. Starting the machine was simple too - The 360 Eye is app controlled. From the app, you can start the 360 Eye, schedule cleaning times, see where the 360 Eye has cleaned or send it back to base.My first impression of the 360 Eye is how small it appears at first. It has a very small footprint but is a bit taller than any other robot vac I've seen. The small width actually has proved to be an excellent feature as the 360 Eye is able, with a bit of ducking and diving, to navigate through our maze of bar stool legs which previously were dog-hair heaven. The height for us also is a good thing as it prevents the 360 Eye from going under furniture that conceals electrical cords that could be sucked up.The 360 Eye is not a quiet beast. It sounds a little like a hair dryer. But to me this reassures me that it is sucking up everything with similar strength to a handheld Dyson. It is excellent at picking up pet hair and dust. The capacity of the bin is deceptive. At first my impression was that it would be too small but the tornadic action of the 360 Eye somehow seems to pack the hair and dirt in there. The bin also is much easier to remove and empty than the others we have tried. You simply press a button at the top and remove the clear bin and empty in seconds. The 360 Eye is also excellent at finding its base and recharging itself. This is such a valuable feature that all the robot vacs promise but few, if any, deliver. There have only been a couple of occasions (discussed below) where the 360 Eye did not make it back to base. I've even experimented with taking it to the other side of the house where it had not even been and it still made it back to base. The 360 Eye is not perfect. We found that its nemesis was a rug of ours that is about an inch deep. The tank tracks of the 360 Eye were just about enough to get it onto the rug but the pile was too deep for the 360 Eye to be able to turn effectively and so it would get stuck on that rug. Because the rug was in the same room as the 360 Eye's base, it would often be one of the first things it encountered and so this was frustrating at first. We were so impressed with every other aspect of the 360 Eye and the solution it brought to our pet hair issue, that we actually replaced that rug with a shorter pile rug and this has solved the problem. Darkness also is an enemy of the 360 Eye. Once, the 360 Eye got under our Incline Treadmill which is just tall enough for it to get under and it got stuck - presumably due to lack of light. We'd love to see some updates to the software to perhaps be able to direct the 360 Eye to a particular place in the home as it does take a while for it to reach the furthest rooms and sometimes, with a couple of charges in between, it doesn't get round to doing these parts anytime soon. But with its excellent ability to return to its base and recharge, eventually everything gets a clean. The Dyson 360 Eye looks like something we'll be able to use for years to come. Not perfect but as near to perfect as we've seen and hopefully with some more software development, it can be improved even while it sits there in our home.
I bought Billy (Dyson 360) to compare it with Charlie (my "whirling dervish" competitor robot vac) because it kept getting stuck underneath everything and I was spending too much time tending to it.Set up of the 360 was a breeze but it too found some trouble spots and would get stuck - though far less than the competitor. After a few days of trying to rearrange chairs and rugs and tables to make it easier without much luck a lightbulb went off. I went out and bought a pack of those small rubber stick on feet that are about half an inch tall and stuck them to the bottom lip of whatever piece of furniture Billy was getting his front end stuck under. They don't show (unless you lay on the floor) and serve to block the vac from getting it's nose stuck. Now, I set the ... Now, I set the Dyson 360 to start when my alarm clock goes off and by the time I'm ready to head out the door he's ready to have the bin dumped so he can recharge and start his second cycle. By the time I get home he's all though and ready to go again. Seamless. Day after day. I did not get that with the other and after all, the goal of the connected home is to make it effortless on our part. This is as close as you can get. Oh, and by the way, I didn't mention performance because after all, this is a Dyson. You can even run this in quiet (power save mode) and still get superior suction. No surprise there. Disclosure: I own every Dyson product except the hair dryer (one needs hair else I would have it too) and I paid full price for each with absolutely no regrets. You always get more than you pay for with Dyson products and they consistently deliver exactly what they promise.
I have had this vacuum since it was first released, I loved it, it feels so durable and could make it up over the carpet transitions from the hard floor. It could climb like a tank. Well i stored it away for a bit. Well I recently pulled it back out cause my circumstances changed only to find out that the app for this vacuum has been updated for the new version and now my vacuum isn’t compatible with it so i have no visual of the activity and i cant set a timer for it to start. Contacted dyson and got nothing back. By the way i own all 3 dyson vacuums models. This is the reason for my low rating.
As a computer science professor I have wanted a robotic vacuum since they started coming out; however, none navigated in a way that made sense to me logically initially. Prior to purchasing the Dyson 360, I tried the Roomba 980 as it was the first iRobot robot to use a camera for navigation vs bounce navigation; however, I was not pleased with the fact it had so many parts that needed to be replaced regularly (agitators, filters, brushes, etc) and it kept getting stuck and failing to continue cleaning my house. I was even considering ordering the Dyson 360 from Japan; however, did not want to pay the price to import it to the US (as the base price was $1200 not including shipping/import costs). An another nice thing about the Dyson over the iRobot Roomba series is ... An another nice thing about the Dyson over the iRobot Roomba series is that the air filters are washable, which means they don't need to be replaced every month with a new one. Additionally, the brush bar can be replaced, but it is unlikely to need to be. This washable/long lasting factor means that this robot will pay for itself over time compared to other robotic vacuums... as in about 6 months the cost of filters for a Roomba will be the difference between these two vacuums if you are replacing them as directed (factoring in they provide you 3 with the Roomba to start). The Dyson 360 is an excellent robotic vacuum that manages with a combination of sensors and a 360 degree camera to map out and navigate through your house breaking the house into logical grids and systematically cleaning the floors. I continually impressed by it's ability to navigate around my furniture and make it back to it's charger. I have a 1700sqft+ property and it takes a number of charges for the vacuum to clean the entire house; however, as it vacuums during the time while I'm gone for work, this is not a big deal for me. It is really nice to not have dirt, dust, etc on the floor as I walk around barefoot a lot of the time. It is also kind of neat to be able to see the rendered maps of my house as the vacuum progresses during the day, which also helps me determine if it fails to vacuum part of my house or if there is a problematic bit of furniture that needs to be migrated to allow the vacuum to better navigate.I initially would have given the vacuum 4 stars; however, they have updated the app making it more functional. I also like the addition of different power modes as in the quiet mode it is still quite effective, easier to be home while it operates, and lasts longer per charge.
I ordered this Dyson from Japan before they were available in the USA. Like with any other robot vacuum, it gets stuck, lost, and can be a pain in the butt. That being said, after some growing pains (i.e. making sure to turn on the lights while it cleans, preventing it from going under my futon by adding plastic "bumpers" to the futon itself, removing any exposed wires), this vacuum does an excellent job at cleaning. That being said, it still gets stuck now and again. Sometimes it'll think it's "stuck" and really it's not. I'll just press the "resume" button and it'll keep on going. That brings me to the app. Overall, it's improved a TON since it first came out. I do wish I could resume cleaning through the app when the robot thinks it's stuck (but in reality, it's ... MoreI ordered this Dyson from Japan before they were available in the USA. I do wish I could resume cleaning through the app when the robot thinks it's stuck (but in reality, it's not really stuck). Also, you can't directly control it through the app. You can give basic commands like pause, resume, suction power, and return to base.Overall, I'm happy with my Dyson 360 eye. My parents just got a PowerBot Turbo, and it's HUGE compared to the Dyson. I think that the Powerbot navigates better, doesn't get stuck as often, but it doesn't have a stable phone app, and I don't know if it has the suction of the Dyson. Just know that this vacuum requires patience. You can't just take it out of the box and expect it to work perfectly -- you'll have to robot "proof" your home first.
I've been waiting for the US release of the 360 Eye since it was revealed in, what, 2014? Aside from generally liking Dyson products, I also hate my Roomba and was excited about the prospect of Dyson stepping in and doing this category the right way.Unfortunately, the only thing it has been able to do successfully is make me appreciate my Roomba 880.Build quality is fantastic and the vacuum itself is best-in-class. EVERYTHING.I have a Noguchi Cyclone table, and if I hadn't just dropped a grand on this thing, I'd be amused at how sad the lil robot looks trying to figure out how to get itself off of the shallow base. It's also fun watching it attempt to navigate from underneath a normal, boring chair. Most recently, it took over 5 minutes- which is a bummer given the relatively short battery life.* The battery just dies. The lil feller doesn't even have time to get back to its charging base.* It apparently takes around 3 hours to charge with a 45 minute run time, and having done that multiple times in the 24 hours that I’ve owned it, it has yet to successfully clean a single 400 square foot room.Kills me to say it, but do not buy this thing- yet. It hasn’t been officially available in the US for very long (early August, I believe), so the next update will be the first chance to apply whatever they’ve learned about US homes to their algorithms. Hopefully that gets released before my return window is up, because as it stands, this machine is definitely going back.
