Heat settings there are 3 settings lowest is 175, highest is 285. I have long fine almost straight hair naturally and I use the 285. It says that it's less damaging to your hair , understand there is HEAT if there is HEAT there is damage somewhere so use a heat protectant it will get hot at 285. I do use the cooling feature but it blows at room temp. I live in a tropical climate so it's not cold it's room temp so not sure is seals the hair shaft as intended. If you have naturally curly hair or hair that typically requires a straightening process this product WILL NOT be your end all or perfect product, however it might get you to more of a straight style that you can accept or maybe save time if you have to use another tool. For my best results, my hair is not fully dripping wet not even toweled dried it's like 80% wet meaning it has been initially wrapped in a towel then air dried some.
