Although I do wish the side of the box didn’t have the company name/product serial number-as someone could have easily noticed it and stolen it.The Airstrait itself is a beautiful product. It’s not overly heavy and I used it on half of my head without my arm becoming tired. The special edition Prussian Blue/Copper is a lovely color and the buttons and display screen are easy to use and easy to read.As for the product’s performance, unfortunately it did not work for me. Despite using a heat protectant and a smoothing cream, my hair was very frizzy past the roots and to the ends. It took multiple passes to dry half my head my hair-and I used both speeds and all three temperatures just in case.I did take less time to “straighten” my hair from wet to dry than it normally would for me to do so using the hair dryer and a flat brush. Just to cover all my bases, I then switched from wet mode to dry mode and went over my hair again. My hair was less frizzy, but nowhere near the silky strands that some reviewers have mentioned. I truly wanted the Airstrait to work for me, but I’m going to be returning it.Dyson’s return policy is something I should have to looked into prior to buying from them, as it takes five to seven business days to have a return approved and then four to eight weeks to have it processed. 😅For the price of the product, I did expect more.

I have frizzy wavy below shoulder length older ( late 50s) with some (dyed) grey hair. I really have no patience for spending time fussing with my hair on a regular basis. The Airstrait does exactly what it says, very efficiently and quickly. Even I have the patience to wash my hair, put it up in a towel while I do something else (quick makeup) and then divide my hair into about 4 big sections and then run the Airstrait a few times over smaller sections of the by now damp larger sections. I only had a problem the first time when I accidentally used the Airstrait upside down at the back of my head - obviously the air then blew the wrong way and that section of my hair was anything but smooth
but easily corrected by the next correct pass.I agree that stick strait ends look a bit like rat’s tails and are not a good look. But I just twist the finished warm hair in two different sections away from my face when I am done and pin them both back until they are cool. That seems to give the ends enough of a bend so it doesn’t look so weird.I am sure spending a couple of minutes with the barrel of the Airwrap would give the perfect finish to my ends - but on an ordinary day I can’t be bothered. In summary, this should really have been named the Airsmooth. I don’t think think there is anything more aging / less groomed looking than frizzy hair. The Airstraight has solved this for me!(I wish I could give 41/2 stars. It only loses half a star because you can’t bend the ends of hair to give movement the way a regular straightening iron can. But it’s a small trade off for not worrying about damaging my hair! )Ps First photo is straight off my pillow, the second after a wash and using the Airstrait for the third time, ever.

Game Changer for Drying Hair to a Straight Finish
7 May 2023

Like Dyson’s other hair products, Airstrait delivers hairstyling results in a fraction of the time of conventional hair drying and styling tools. The Dyson Airstrait was designed to straighten hair while drying and does so without excessive heat that damages the hair shaft and causes hair breakage. It can be used on wet or dry hair, but instead of heating the hair with heat plates, this product allows for ultimate control over the amount of air flow and intensity of heat; and straightens hair as it dries with high velocity air instead of hot plates. It can be used on wet or dry hair, but instead of heating the hair with heat plates, this product allows for ultimate control over the amount of air flow and intensity of heat; and straightens hair as it dries with high velocity air instead of hot plates. The Airstrait is designed with intelligent heat control sensors which make it hard to damage the hair from extreme heat. The Airstrait is designed with high pressure air jets that are projected evenly throughout the hair as it dries and straightened the hair shafts. The Dyson Hyperdymium motor allows for a quick dry that the user can almost completely control in intensity and speed. The whole concept of designing this product was to create a straight finish of the hair, delivered in a faster and healthier manner than similar products. The LCD screen displays airflow and temperature settings, but to fully view the display of the Airstrait the release button that holds the two sides together must be released. The controls are then viewable and include an on/off switch, a mode button that switches from dry to wet, a control for the speed of the airflow, a cold button, and a temperature button. It has been designed with 3 heat settings for wet drying and they are 175-, 230-, and 285-degrees F. The heat settings for the dry mode are 250-, 285-, and Boost. One can control the speed of the fan through a button control and set it to either low or high. The speed of the fan can further be controlled by either clamping the two arms of the device together or releasing them. With each power startup, the Airstrait goes through a self-cleaning process and the LCD screen will also alert when any other maintenance may be needed. While in use the Airstrait will automatically drop to Idle mode in between passes and will Auto Pause after 3 seconds of not being in use. It is a game changer for shoulder length to long hair. It takes the processes of drying, straightening, and styling and puts them all three into one process. The time it seems to save is tremendous. For short curlier hair it has controls that when closed will direct air to facilitate a quick air dry without touching the hair but dry the hair much like a diffuser does, but the Dyson Airstrait is really designed and marketed as a hair straightener tool. It seems to straighten wet hair in two to three passes, but this also depends on the heat settings, air flow, and texture of one’s hair. It is good to remember that less direct heat makes for healthier hair and since using this product still dries the hair in a fraction of the time needed by conventional products, I seem to have more time to take it a little slower when it comes to the healthiness of my hair. The Dyson Airstrait comes with a 2-Year Warranty on Parts and Labor which exceeds most warranties on hair styling heat tools. It is a great product, fun to use, and has a heat resistant pad enclosed in the packaging. I definitely recommend it for medium length to long hair. It will give you a finished product of dry straight hair in a fraction of the time that you are probably use to it taking to create a similar finish.

Good tool for people with straight hair

I like the color of the tool (purchased the Prussian blue), wish it had other colors that matched my other Dyson tools that I already have. Heat settings there are 3 settings lowest is 175, highest is 285. I have long fine almost straight hair naturally and I use the 285. It says that it's less damaging to your hair , understand there is HEAT if there is HEAT there is damage somewhere so use a heat protectant it will get hot at 285. This product may help mitigate time heat is applied to your hair so maybe less damage in long run but I have nothing to prove that. The results I expect are very straight no fly away hair. The AirStrait does give me these results although it's still straighter with a flat iron and I do have to use a protectant and a anti-frizz product. The AirStrait does give me these results although it's still straighter with a flat iron and I do have to use a protectant and a anti-frizz product. I do use the cooling feature but it blows at room temp. I live in a tropical climate so it's not cold it's room temp so not sure is seals the hair shaft as intended. If you have naturally curly hair or hair that typically requires a straightening process this product WILL NOT be your end all or perfect product, however it might get you to more of a straight style that you can accept or maybe save time if you have to use another tool. For my best results, my hair is not fully dripping wet not even toweled dried it's like 80% wet meaning it has been initially wrapped in a towel then air dried some. I gave this product a 3 star because it does save me time by using only a single tool to get straighter looking hair. I can get a better result with a flat iron, but the results I get with the AirStrait are acceptable and it saves me time by not having to dry then use a flat iron. The price factor is ridiculous, even if I thought of it has having 1 tool to replace two tools (dryer/flat iron) it would not justify the price. I am keeping the tool because I do like that I can get flat iron "like" results without using two tools and other similar tools that I know do this better are still big and bulky. If this was a stretch on your budget to afford then I would not recommend to purchase. I still appreciate Dyson innovation. Suggestion to Dyson if you all can eliminate those big bulky power cords similar to your Corrale product but can make the charge last longer you would have my total devotion!

Great Haircare Technology with frizzy drawback
5 July 2023

I recently purchased the Dyson Airstrait, and here are my thoughts.First and foremost, I must highlight that the Dyson Airstrait left my hair feeling soft, which is a definite plus. However, contrary to some other reviews, I didn't achieve the pin-straight results I was hoping for. Instead, my hair had a slightly frizzy appearance. While it wasn't a deal-breaker for me, it's worth mentioning for those seeking perfectly sleek, straight hair.Regarding the heat aspect, I must admit that the air did feel quite warm during the styling process. This made me a bit skeptical about the claim of zero heat damage. However, I will say that compared to my usual hair straightener, the Dyson Airstrait emits significantly less heat and eliminates the need for hot plates ... MoreI recently purchased the Dyson Airstrait, and here are my thoughts.First and foremost, I must highlight that the Dyson Airstrait left my hair feeling soft, which is a definite plus. While it wasn't a deal-breaker for me, it's worth mentioning for those seeking perfectly sleek, straight hair.Regarding the heat aspect, I must admit that the air did feel quite warm during the styling process. This made me a bit skeptical about the claim of zero heat damage. However, I will say that compared to my usual hair straightener, the Dyson Airstrait emits significantly less heat and eliminates the need for hot plates altogether. This feature alone is a major benefit for those concerned about heat-related damage to their hair. One aspect I truly appreciate about the Dyson Airstrait is its ability to save me from the dreaded in-between stage of letting my hair air dry naturally, which often results in a frizzy mess before I straighten it with a traditional straightener. With the Airstrait, I can conveniently skip the round brush blow-drying process that I've never quite mastered. It provides a quick and effective way to style my hair without the hassle of multiple tools. It's important to note that I recently cut my hair short, and I am yet to fully test how the Dyson Airstrait works on my new shorter hairstyle.Despite some minor frizziness and the warm air sensation during use, the Dyson Airstrait has won me over with its gentler approach to hair straightening. I will be documenting a video on how it works on my curly frizzy hair. I definitely anticipate using it more frequently than my traditional straightener, especially when I want to avoid the frizzy aftermath of air drying. The Dyson Airstrait, priced at around 500 dollars, is undeniably on the higher end of the spectrum when it comes to hair care tools. For many consumers, this price may be considered quite steep, especially when compared to more affordable options available in the market. I felt this was way too steeply priced even with the pros mentioned. At a lower price, this product would be a no-brainer.

Great for some hair types

I have a Dyson Corrale traditional straightener that I love, so I was very excited to try this new design of straightener by Dyson. The Dyson Airstrait is a high pressure air jet straightener that uses air pressure instead of metal or ceramic plates. In the box is the Airstrait, mat, and paperwork. A unique feature is the LCD screen to view controls, and select setup preferences (language and C vs F temp display). Once through the two startup screens the straighten is ready to go.As far as the build, this is another fantastic, well built, Dyson product. The handle is a comfortable size for gripping, the air jets are angled so they are blowing on the hair as you straighten, and there is a cover over the air intake that can be removed for cleaning. The handle is a comfortable size for gripping, the air jets are angled so they are blowing on the hair as you straighten, and there is a cover over the air intake that can be removed for cleaning. The overall noise level is less than most standard hair dryers and quickly heats up to desired temp. The features include a wet / dry selector, cool air, fan high / low, and a temperature selector (175F, 230F, and 285F). To use, turn on the straightener, it will go through a short (3 seconds) cleaning cycle, and set to desired preference. The straightener will turn on to a low fan setting. Once you pick up and press the straightener together over a section of hair, the fan speed increases automatically. If you lay the straightener down, it will automatically turn off as part of the idle mode. This can be disabled if not needed. While I love this straightener, it's not for everyone. My hair curl type is between 2a - 2b, however my daughter is a 3b. This straightener works great for my waves and leaves my hair soft, using less styling products, without the obvious straightener flatness. However my daughter struggled to get her hair nearly as straight as a traditional straightener, and the initial results were very frizzy. She can get a sleek look, but has to use more smoothing products than she would with a tradition straightener. The Dyson has a ton of potential, and I highly recommend it, but has to work with your hair type and product preferences to be worth it!

I’ve purchased every Dyson hair care device and this is a close 2nd to the Dyson AirwrapI just turned 40 and I have what I refer to as combination hair. The bottom half is my mom’s coarse, curly hair that air dries with natural ringlets. The top half is my dad’s fine, straight, oily and started to grey when I was 20. When my hair gets dried out it is prone to frizz and for the last 15 years I have chemically straightened it using keratin treatments. Despite years of chemical and heat damage, my hair needs to be washed daily due to my natural oils. But enough about me.Pros of the Airstrait include low heat, ability to straighten my hair (even my wirey greys), the device does not get hot (which would be huge for people with small children), auto off and not ... MoreI’ve purchased every Dyson hair care device and this is a close 2nd to the Dyson AirwrapI just turned 40 and I have what I refer to as combination hair. But enough about me.Pros of the Airstrait include low heat, ability to straighten my hair (even my wirey greys), the device does not get hot (which would be huge for people with small children), auto off and not needing a large round brush while styling (which for me is one less thing I need to pack).Cons are it’s a one trick pony, price tag and bulky (even more so than Dyson’s other devices) cord. There is a learning curve to this device and my hair is thick enough that I need to divide it into 6+ sections and pay very close attention to getting my roots dried especially on the back of my neck. Doing all this takes some time but I anticipate styling time to decrease as I continue to use the device. My hair is mid back length and it takes about 20 minutes from start to finish. That all being said, I would rate this as a close second to the Airwrap. And it’s a narrow margin. The Airwrap I consider the best value due to the diversity of styles you can create with the different attachments. My day to day device has been the Airstrait and it’s what I’ll pack for traveling if I know I’ll just want to wear my hair straight. The Dyson Supersonic dryer and Corrale straightener are tied for 3rd as I have to use them together to fully style my hair.

The Dynamic Dyson Airstrait

If you are a loyal Dyson customer, you will want to immediately purchase the new Airstrait! For years I have been searching for hair tools to effectively tame my thick hair and only the Dyson tools have been worth the money/time and the Airstrait is no different. The packaging of the product is once again top-notch. The outer box shows exactly what you are getting and how the Dyson technology is used with your hair. Unboxing was easy and I could not wait to get it open and to feel the product in my hands. When taking the product out of the packaging I immediately noticed the same style of hair product as other Dyson hair products - sleek design, techy but fun colors, and durable. Unboxing was easy and I could not wait to get it open and to feel the product in my hands. When taking the product out of the packaging I immediately noticed the same style of hair product as other Dyson hair products - sleek design, techy but fun colors, and durable. The longer style cord is appreciated as I move around quite a bit when I do my hair and I am not limited to where I stand. The edges are smooth and leave no gaps where hair could get trapped inside (this is huge for longer hair!). The instruction booklet gave easy instructions on how to operate the tool and I also appreciated the rubber mat to put the Airstrait on when I wasn't using it.The first time I tried the new Airstrait I had wet hair from the shower but opted to not section off my hair. When I turned it on it completed a short cleaning through the filter at the bottom of the handle. I forgot that the airflow was more powerful if you closed it, so it took a little while to dry my roots. Once I started to straighten my hair, I was immediately impressed with the results: Less frizz, no hairs getting caught in panels, consistently 1 pass and dried, and for larger chunks of hair maybe 2 passes, and less time to do my hair! As someone who has been burned by multiple hair tools in the past, I was timid about areas around my neck. However, the airflow was drying my hair, not your typical 450-degree straightener panels. Once I realized this, I was getting through my hair much quicker! The only thing I would change is that I would add the option to open the tool wider. As a thick hair girl, sometimes I need to add in larger chunks of hair. The second time I used the Airstrait my hair was once again wet from the shower, I remembered to close the tool to make sure the airflow came out faster for my roots and then I sectioned off my hair. This time went faster than the first as there wasn't as much of a learning curve and I knew I wasn't going to burn myself. I also used multiple temperatures from the buttons on the tool.Overall, thinking back to the first wet-to-dry tool that I had in 2004 that literally burned my hair off, I am so thankful Dyson has created hair tools that protect my hair, do not take forever to warm up or to use, look and feel amazing, and make me look my best.Dyson has a customer for life and the Airstrait is permanently joining my Dyson hair dryer and Airwrap.

Worth the investment

Auto off after a short time of not being used - I used to take a pic of my straightener being unplugged everyday, but now I feel a lot less anxiety over burning my house down! lol it is always ready to use - no keeping your straightener on to do a touch up before you leave and forgetting, or waiting for it to heat up again. Love the locking feature.cons: price, the cool option isn’t as cool as my blow dryer, I am noticing my dry shampoo doesn’t stick as well to my hair but that’s not a problem, I thought it was on the heavier/clunky side at first but I don’t notice it anymore and I have only used it a few times. The plug on the other hand, is EXTREMELY clunky, and there is really no good way to hide it when in use. My hand tends to squeeze this together harder than a straightener so my hands cramp; but this is usually when I should be using the lock button. Getting used to the *slightly* different technique of regular straightening vs the airstrait was a small learning curve but I got it down. There are no hot plates so it doesn’t get the baby hairs and roots as well, and you need to treat it as a blow dryer, not super quick passes of very hot plates, take your time and do a few good and even passes.Haven’t taken many pictures and you can’t upload videos unless they’re youtube so I took screenshots - I’m obsessed.
