This vacuum is lightweight, convenient to use, and has good suction power. The various attachments are easy to interchange and very functional. The ergonomics provide good balance and it is easy to use one handed in confined areas, like autos. Overall I'm happy with this unit's performance. That's the good. What could use addition / improvement are the following: A low level battery charge indicator. This unit lacks one and it's frustrating to have the battery power die in the middle of a clean up. Because there is no battery power level indicator, you have no idea how long it will take to fully recharge the battery. The 3 1/2 hour charge time is also an annoyance. This means a hallway closet or other convenient storage location will need at least 24" of unobstructed area opposite the vacuum before this installation is practical. Why cannot the vacuum be stored with a vertical removal protocol from the wall hang unit? Makes you wonder. And finally, there are carpets out there that will fray if vacuumed over time with a beater vacuum head. Most will allow you to shut off the beater rotation. This one does not. The only alternative is to attach the mattress head (about six inches wide) and use it instead. How long will that take to vacuum a family room? Probably longer than the full battery charge.

Love this vacuum cleaner. It is so handy since there is no cord to wrangle. I can just grab it off the wall and use it to clean up around the cat's litter box. So far, I've used it housewide for quick cleanup without any indication of battery depletion. Putting it back on the wall hanger is really easy and it automatically plugs in for recharge when it is hung back up. The battery automatically quits charging when it is fully charged. So, it is ready to go again the next day or the next week. The vacuum picks up pretty well on the low suction, battery conserving mode, and it really kicks into high gear on the high suction mode. The low suction setting is usually adequate for most clean ups. Then, lift the dump button and the vacuum is emptied. Easy peasy.

I have had my Dyson v7 for about two weeks now, and I have nothing but good things to say about it. The size / weight / no cord / maneuverability is perfect for getting to every spot that my old vacuum could not reach. I can now vacuum under the bed, on the bookcases, the stairs, the HVAC air return, etc with ease - and it also works great in the car! The suction is good, and having a simple bag-less canister is great. The only issue I have is not with the machine, but with my choice of which Dyson version to purchase. My Dyson v7 works exactly (actually better than) as advertised, but sometimes 30 minutes of run time (which is what is advertised for the v7) is a little shy of what I need. This is not the fault of the vacuum, but I should have purchased a Dyson ... MoreI have had my Dyson v7 for about two weeks now, and I have nothing but good things to say about it. This is not the fault of the vacuum, but I should have purchased a Dyson rated for 60 minutes (the v10 or v11.) Luckily the recharge cycle is not that long - so this is not too much of an issue. Overall I am very happy with this purchase and would recomend it to anyone who wants to make the task of vacuuming easier, faster, and more enjoyable.

After this vacuums first use it began cutting out and pulsing. After a phone call to Dysons customer service I was told that was because the filter was dirty. I found that to be strange as we had only used it once and our home is very clean to begin with. I followed the customer service representitives advice on washing the filters and letting them dry for 24 hours. Once I put it back together it worked well for about 1-2 minutes and began doing the same thing again. If I wash and clean the filters everytime I use the vacuum I can get about 2-3 minutes of use out of it before the pulsing begins. I find this to not only be a big pain the rear end but also a major design flaw. We have had cordless vacuums before and have never had any problems with them. So for some reason I used to be against the expensive Dyson products. I even used an older corded vacuum that made me feel that I was correct in my assumption that they were way over priced. But after buying a Hoover corded, where it quickly failed with an irreplaceable battery. Followed that with a cheap corded version, ok but a pain with a cord. And then a cheap knockoff of the Dyson style that has very little suction, and now I broke down and bought a Dyson to try it because the price was right. First off these ARE better than the cheaper knock-offs. A lot more suction with these. And all the parts fit together better and smoother connecting and disconnecting. If I had bought a Dyson in the first place I could have purchased the most expensive version for what I spent on all the others.
Super quick, So much easier than getting the broom, sweeping and hoping to get it all with the dustpan. It helps keep my floors so much cleaner. I love that I don't have to deal with a vacuum cord either. I actually keep my floors clean every day with this than if I was sweeping or using a traditional vacuum. I also love the attachments, it makes getting to harder to reach places easier. The clip/button to empty is a little hard to press at first, I felt like I was breaking it, but I confirmed with the directions I was emptying appropriately (I was) so I kept pushing and it worked. It also gets easier to empty the more you use it. I can't even tell that I have an older version for the price I paid. My mom has a newer version and this one stands up to it the same. I think the main difference I notice is emptying the canister but I'll take that for the price. I've also used this to vacuum my couch since we have a dog and cat who like to use that as their bed and it works like a charm to get the pet fur. I will keep this forever!
Highly recommend: good power/suction, very lightweight, reliable, quiet. Attachments are so easy to attach and detach and all but one is washable in the sink (which is great when you use them to clean your car or after spiderwebs). Product has exceeded my expectations. I live in a 700sf space in the midwest (with 4 seasons of dirt and debris) with mostly laminate floors. No pets. I use this machine 2-3 times a week for ~5 minutes at a time; I've had it for 5 months now. I've never needed to use the max suction setting, even on carpet; the regular mode works sufficiently. I recharge it about every 6 weeks. Vacuuming is no longer the big tedious chore that I resist doing because of a heavy, clunky machine that required earplugs for noise. I love the ease and convenience of this machine, as well as the array of attachments. I use mine nearly everyday and sometimes multiple times in a day. I went into buying this sort of blind- i have always wanted a dyson and thought for the full retail on this, it was a high powered unit- but find out it isn’t really great for deep vacuuming carpets, and the run time isn’t great. I usually use it on max power, but I guess for more run time need to lower the suction. I was considering returning this to get a less expensive brand, but decided to keepIt due to ease and convenience. dyson was a name I always attributed top notch quality, but this unit did decrease my thoughts on this brand. I do still need to pull out my big vacuum 1-2x a week to do the carpets. ... MoreI love the ease and convenience of this machine, as well as the array of attachments. I have been looking to grab a Dyson product for a little while and I guess my hopes were too high from waiting this long probably. The non "max" vacuum option is just OK and if you switch it to "max" you get even less than the 30 mins. that's advertised. Probably OK if you leave in an apartment, but not a house. If you have a house, you better have a second vacuum, which defeats the purpose really since Dyson's products are not necessarily reasonable in price, but I got mine for cheaper and that helps ease the pain. What I like is the portability of course, but that's not enough to make up for the product as a whole just being OK. Considering to return the product because I do not see the value it provides other than being portable for as long as the battery lasts, ... MoreI have been looking to grab a Dyson product for a little while and I guess my hopes were too high from waiting this long probably. When I bought this machine I had high hopes it would operate at the level of my floor model Dyson which was /is excellent as far as performance. I bought this model for its portability and use in difficult to vacuum areas ie. under beds and low lying furniture. It performed admirably but not for very long even though it was fully charged. Finally, I used it enough that dust container was at MAX and needed to be emptied. I have followed the instructions to the letter and yet two broken fingernails and injured fingers later I have not been able to empty the container!!!. This has not happened with any of the Dyson floor models I have used and the one I still use. Also, I went on line to see if there was anything that would point me in the right direction but found ... MoreWhen I bought this machine I had high hopes it would operate at the level of my floor model Dyson which was /is excellent as far as performance.
