I had to restart my laptop like 3 times, had to call eero support, they did a few things but....I want my devices connected to the band I want, not to the band the device think is the best for my equipment. I know this is a feature most mesh system have but I also think this is a feature all Wi-Fi systems should have: Separate the bands, please!!!So, I tested one device only and this is my opinion:Pros:The setup is easy, the app is easy to use, the range I dare to say that was better than my Netgear seriously, when I was close to the eero the speed was the same than a wired connection. If you need two or more of this device use wired backhaul, you will get great speeds.Cons:This device does not separate the Wi-Fi bands, that's my only concern and why I had to return it.

But I'm holding out hope that Eero gets off their bottoms and actually creates a fix for this.

Had a little trouble during initial install. Called for help and solved it instantly. This unit combines all frequencies into only one SSID. This was awkward for me since I had separate networks for each frequency ( 2.4 and 5.1MHz) with different names. This meant I had to reprogram equipment on the 5.1MHz network (SSID) to the name of the original 2.4MHz networks there were less of those than ones in the 2.4 network . So I used the same name and password for the single EERO network and all 2.4 MHz equipment connected seamlessly. Again I had to reconnect ( reprogram) the 5.1 MHz equipment to the new network name.If I had it to do over again, I would have chosen a system with the capability of multiple SSID’s since my original system had multiple SSID’s. With the EERO, it was around 350-375.

N.B.: If you have concerns about the privacy of your network information, this is probably not the device for you. After my old Synology router died from overheating, I thought I would give eero a shot since they're recommended by my ISP, Sonic. Setup was surprisingly simple via the app, and IPv6 just works, which was certainly not true with my last router. Internet access also became noticeably more responsive, which makes sense given the age and failing hardware of my old router. What's a little surprising is that, in my 700 square foot apartment, I see a noticeable decrease in signal strength when I'm just down the hallway. I don't see any packet loss or significant latency, but I would expect the signal to be stronger.A potential caveat with regard to the ... MoreN.B.: If you have concerns about the privacy of your network information, this is probably not the device for you. After my old Synology router died from overheating, I thought I would give eero a shot since they're recommended by my ISP, Sonic. Internet access also became noticeably more responsive, which makes sense given the age and failing hardware of my old router. What's a little surprising is that, in my 700 square foot apartment, I see a noticeable decrease in signal strength when I'm just down the hallway. I don't see any packet loss or significant latency, but I would expect the signal to be stronger.A potential caveat with regard to the app-based setup: the app works even outside the network, which implies that the router is using a cloud-based service for configuration. This raises a few concerns. First of all, the router has administration access exposed to the Internet. Second, if eero goes out of business, the router will cease to be manageable, since the cloud service will go away. Finally, eero's privacy policy indicates that they don't track your Internet activity, but they do collect information such as your SSIDs, the hardware on your network, and network utilization and associate that information with you, personally. Their privacy policy indicates that this information may be shared with "affiliates," so make of that what you will.Due to the app-based nature of management, people who really want to fiddle with their network will probably be dissatisfied. The app is very easy to use and shows quite a lot of information, but certain functionality, such as presenting daily or monthly network statistics, is only available if you buy a subscription to eero Plus. The app did show me that my HP printer was somehow downloading exactly 1 GB of data daily and uploading about 850 MB, but there's no way to get traffic analysis out of the router to see what the printer was connecting to, although perhaps this functionality is available in eero Plus. And, of course, the curse of the mobile app is that it tries periodically to upsell you on the subscription and business offerings.Pros:* Easy to set up* Fast* Great IPv6 supportCons:* Somewhat limited range* Advanced features require subscription* Only one physical network port, so connecting more than one wired device requires a separate switch* Cloud-based service raises privacy, security, and longevity concernsOn balance, I recommend the product for speed and ease of use, but I have some misgivings about the privacy implications of the company's data collection and would very much prefer to have the option to disable or restrict that capability.
I'm generally a fan of the Eero product. I maintain several Eero 6 networks for family members and never have an issue. The Pro 6E line is a completely different story. Transferring data between different devices on the network sometimes works great and sometimes not so much. I've had data transfer rates plummet to 100kb/s (yes, bits, not bytes). And this is a common problem with this line. Reddit and Eeros own support site have a lot of posts on the topic. And I have yet to see one where a call to customer support resolved the issue.I used to recommend Eero products whenever someone would ask what mesh networks to look into. I don't know that I'll ever recommend or purchase another after this experience.
I had two sets of expensive Netgear Orbi mesh systems fail on reliability working on occasion that I decided to leave that fan base and try another product. I was skeptical at first with EERO not having a web page interface and all being done with a phone app, I quickly realized this was certainly best for my needs for a modern era and most importantly, it just works and is reliable. All the speed boasted by others is no game if it is not reliable. The EERO Pro 6E mesh system is great and extremely fast with a set it and forget it mind set. Very easy set up and I can reliably tell who is connected to my system without the hassle of a web page interface. I bought this system on the recommendation of my future son-in-law. We have a new home that is fairly long and the original WiFi was pretty weak in the front and back and non existent in the back yard. Set up with the Eero was super easy. Download the app, plug in the first hub and follow instructions. The only problem I had was with the automatic registration. I feel like the snag was because my cell coverage at my house is very bad. I was able to call EERO customer service and they were able to quickly help me through the problem. It was very easy to use the same WiFi name and password as my previous system. I have been using EERO for some years.Had also a 6E gateway for a while.Decided to upgrade to 1G internet on Frontier and my gateway did not show the speeds. These replaced a 3 year old Orbi system. The setup process for Eero is far simpler. The management system is much better. Max speed is similar but the range is so much better. Still, I find the square footage guide as being a very poor measure for how many units are needed. I ended up with 4 and my home is about 2250 square feet. This was the only way to get what I consider reasonable bandwidth coverage (>100Mbps in every room) throughout. Many may be happy with lower speeds depending on the devices near the edge of coverage so consider this when deciding how many units are needed. The Amazon Echos that can work as boosters may be helpful but only a few models can work with it so check before assuming this will help. Remember that using wireless backhaul does ... MoreThese replaced a 3 year old Orbi system. The setup process for Eero is far simpler. The management system is much better. The Amazon Echos that can work as boosters may be helpful but only a few models can work with it so check before assuming this will help. Remember that using wireless backhaul does decrease overall available bandwidth. All but one of my Eeros is wired. Very nice that the system allows them to work in a mixed mode and not all wired/all wireless. Very happy with these!
Around August of 2023, I purchased an Eero mesh router system from BestBuy totaling approximately $695 so that I may have internet in a newly built home. The devices were advertised to provide Wi-Fi 6E to 1500-2500 sq ft per device. Due to me having a 3100 sq ft home, I purchased 4 of them, not including the Eero router built into my additionally purchased Ring Security Device ($283). I also pay my local internet company for 1GB of speed, a speed the devices advertise they can handle. Since my purchase, I have had extreme complications with efficient WiFi throughout my house. I also pay my local internet company for 1GB of speed, a speed the devices advertise they can handle. Since my purchase, I have had extreme complications with efficient WiFi throughout my house. Throughout the year of me owning the devices, I once believed that my security cameras were working improperly, so I contacted Ring and they told me there wasn't enough WiFi getting to the devices. Throughout the year, I've also contacted Spectrum, my internet provider, due to lack of WiFi. It wasn't until two separate technicians, one from Spectrum and another from an outside source, have told me that the devices were working improperly. The technician showed me the speeds I was getting as well as the poor roaming capabilities of the devices. Despite previous contacts with Eero regarding similar issues, I contacted them again in July of 2024 so that they may help me fix the issue. I stayed on the phone with them for almost 3 hours and went through many troubleshooting attempts, which all failed, only so that they may see my documented proof of poor roaming capabilities and data speeds less than 1/10 of what I should be getting. They've told me that there is nothing wrong with the devices nor will they replace them despite their annotated proof of my troubles. I would simply like my money back since I am well past the return date from BestBuy and spent the majority of the year thinking other devices were the issue.
