As the title states, the Power+ Multi-Head Snow Shovel Kit is good, but not great! There are definitely a lot of areas for improvement. The good:Clears snow very well (which is the primary objective) and battery life is excellent! I typically use it on the low setting and with clearing sidewalks, walkways, a large deck, and more, have never exhausted more than 50% of the battery life. The not so good (maybe bad):The weight. It's heavy! Your arms and back will definitely get a work out if you have any areas of substance to clear (hard to believe that a shoulder strap isn't part of the kit). The 2-speed switch is very difficult to move at the best of times, add gloves (as you are clearing snow) and it is basically impossible. Given that it's constantly in contact with either pavement, concrete blocks, decking, potentially ice, etc., just not good engineering/design.

This is a great snow shovel attachment. It easily attaches to the Multi-Head Unit. Recently used it to remove some heavy wet snow that was about 2 cm deep. It worked better than expected., clearing the snow with ease. Being heavy and wet, the snow was not flown the full 25 ft max rating, but this should be expected with wet snow. It did however travel at least 15 to 18 ft which was more than what was required. Lite snow would no doubt travel a lot further. The directional snow ejection feature works very well. It should be noted that the unit is bit heavy, but not unmanageable, in fact, the weight helps keep the shovel down on the ground and results in very good snow pickup, especially on my paved driveway, and interlock walk ways. I'm more on 3.5 stars, but 4 is fine. The unit has 2 power options, 1 is smooth and enough for small amount of snow, the other is strong and able to tackle quite good amount.Personally, I like the ability of the unit, powerful, and able to change the throw direction, power selection. But there are few can definitely improve.1. Maybe the designer didn't remember there are height difference between consumers. As one reviewer said it is too long, I'm 6'3", this thing is too short for me. I think it only needs few inches or height selection, then it will be great for both world. But for now, I need too either lower my arm badly, or bend my back to stress it, or use it vertically and throw snow toward the floor.2. It might lock it up too.)3. The multi head unit idea is wonderful, but consider to make a battery backpack that you can put on your back and link to the machine to power it up? The balance is a bit off once you have a heavier battery on it.4. Make it a bit wider, it has the power and ability, let's make it wider!

Assembly was relatively easy. The battery is twice the size of the one on my trimmer and I suspect twice as heavy. The large battery is adequate to do my four car plus driveway and the walk around the back of the house with 2/5ths to spare. The entire setup is heavy. The mid-saft handle sits a bit far back because of the shaft joint so the balance is not quite what I would like therefore I prefer to use the lighter battery from the trimmer most of the time. Let me tell you this blower is a little power house tossing snow many many feet beyond what I could do with a regular shovel and taking at least an hour off my job. It requires some work because of the weight but is a real game changer none the less. Issues. It finds bungy cords under the snow. It will not digest ... MoreAssembly was relatively easy. It will not digest bungy cords or pine cones but does well with pine needles, leaves and such although it is not good for the the Snow Shovel and recommended you clean up your driveway before the snow falls. Back to the bungy cords. After the first one, I was able to put on some good leather gloves and turn the impellor (or whatever it is called) and clear the cord with out much trouble. The second one was a black solid rubber and on the first attempt it would not budge. Going to the manual (the real short coming in this story) there is a section on "Clearing a Clogging Auger Assembly" and after three bullets on safety says " Always use the auger clean tool which is attached to the machine as an accessory, do not use your hand." I call BS. Sorry, "don't use your hand"? Clean tool attached... No mention of a cleaning tool anywhere else. Not in the diagram, not in trouble shooting. Wouldn't work if I had it. Turns out it is a long handled putty knife looking thing for cleaning snow out of the auger, maybe supplied with larger snow blowers. So the instruction manual is basically worthless for learning how to use the Snow Shovel, or to fix it if issues arise. I searched the EGO website and eventually called the help line to try and find a schematic that would help me loosen the augur, take the pressure off of it and remove the bungy cord. (Remember the bungy cord?) Good news, the guy that answered the phone was a bit skeptical of my plan but he did direct me to the schematic hidden on their webpage. He also showed me how to find places that would work on the EGO products if I needed help. He was great. Long story short, I studied the schematic and decided to put my gloves back on, brace the implement well and gently turn the auger by hand and released the bungy cord. Success. I felt great. So, in closing I am so glad I purchased this device. I wish the manual was more detailed in the actual operating methods for moving this thing around on the drive but I am getting the hand of it. At some point the scraper bar on the bottom will need replacing. Maybe that should be metal instead of plastic but it seems to be holding up now and does a great job of getting right down to the asphalt. Thanks EGO.
I bought this to help clean snow off my back patio deck, stairs and front pathways. I used it on the first 10 cm snowfall, and it worked extremely well, at blowing snow off the areas I used it. It really throws the snow a long distance, which is one reason I bought it, so as not to have huge banks of snow at the edges when I shovelled. However, its is VERY heavy, and doesn't have wheels. In my case, a lot of areas I clear snow from are rough surfaces, stone, and even screws protruding from my deck just a little. So it catches on these obstacles, requiring you to constantly lift it up.In deeper snow, it will blow off the snow you pass it over, but it gets very tiring holding it up. I tried clearing my back deck of about 20cm of snow, and could hold it up and sweep it over the first 10cm, then put it down and run it over the next 10cm. It was a lot of work, more than I would have done just shovelling the 20cm with a normal shovel. If it had wheels, or something easier to glide over a rough surface, it might work well for someone to clean paths and walkways, steps, in a light snowfall.
I bought this from ACE online because my local store didn't have just the attachment in stock. I found that, due to a change in the design of the PH1400 Power+ Power Head, the snow shovel attachment would not engage with the handle and "click in." I contacted EGO support and was told to return the shovel to my local ACE for exchange.I brought it to the store and was told that I was the second person they had dealt with who had the same problem. We tried to attach my Power+ Power Head to another shovel attachment with the same result. Then, we tried a Power+ Power Head they had in stock and it fit perfectly. I had an electric snow shovel from a different brand before Ego came out with theirs. There are things I like better about Ego, and some things I don't. The worst, though, like so many other users have said, is that the scraper bar breaks every one or two times I use it. I understand that the scraper bar is a "consumable" item but it can't be that frequently! I hope Ego has a plan to improve it. Another user mentioned it is really long. That's true. It is amazingly long. I'm 6' 3" so it's ok for me, but I can see how a normal person might have trouble. That said, it is well balanced. I like the directional throw, which was lacking on the other brand which would only throw snow straight forward. There is some kind of slip system that keeps the machine from stalling ... MoreI had an electric snow shovel from a different brand before Ego came out with theirs. There is some kind of slip system that keeps the machine from stalling out or breaking a shear pin. Sometimes it's annoying but better than the alternatives; you just have to recognize the tool's limitations. Summary: Ego, you have to come up with a better scraper bar!
The head unit/battery and charger are fine. The actual shovel head is made of a type of plastic that breaks incredibly easy. If you have a perfectly flat space with zero chance of there being a stone or rock on it, then this would work just fine. If you live in the real world where everything isn't perfectly flat, this thing is just waiting to meet a bump or rock and break. I have two of them, one broke within about an hour of using it. The second was bought as clearance special, got home and it was already broken and they wouldn't take it back. Because my receipt says "damaged" which I did not notice, EGO will not warranty it and I had to buy a new auger for my brand new shovel. I love my EGO lawn mower. This thing sucks. I ordered one of these units sight unseen, as they were never physically in stock. Eventually, it did appear available online, so I ordered one. This was a mistake, as I should really have seen/touched/tried it out in person prior to purchase. While the thrower attachment works amazingly well, as it tosses the snow further than I would have thought, the unit is difficult to use. Certainly it is somewhat heavy, I suppose that is to be expected. What appears to be some sort of wheel on the side is really not a wheel. Just a molded piece of plastic. The largest concern for me however is the handle and trigger. Using the unit send to put my wrist at an odd angle. But it is just too uncomfortable to use.I have nothing against Ego, and I will likely look closely at their regular snowblower models before the end of this season.
I bought this ahead of the 2022-2023 winter, I didn't end up using it until the return window was closed, but the first time out, a chunk broke out of the edge of scraper bar. My driveway is older asphalt. The edges of it have small stones, and any amount of stones that go through this unit will wreak havoc on the plastic scraper bar. The Scraper bar seems to be intended to be a wear item, which is fine. However, it breaks in a rather violent manner when encountering stones. It breaks chunks out of it until the scraper bar is essentially gone. EGO did send me a replacement the first time as a curtesy, but the first time I used it, i caught a stone and it broke a chunk out.I like the unit for moving snow, but it requires a perfectly clean concrete or asphalt ... MoreI bought this ahead of the 2022-2023 winter, I didn't end up using it until the return window was closed, but the first time out, a chunk broke out of the edge of scraper bar.
