I loved it! Brandon has a way that just pulls you into the story. I love how the story has a history including a religion. It makes the story feel more substantial. A number of the characters defy stereotypes within the world and I found that to be refreshing. He pushed the bounds of the society's beliefs with his characters and that had a deeper meaning that is very relevant today. Sarene is strong and witty and she encourages the other women in the court to embrace being strong and smart. This book does so many things right that I just don't usually see in Adult Fantasy books.If this book is just sitting on your shelf I encourage you to pick it up now!

I have been looking to start a new epic for ages now, i have gone through many good ones but have been struggling to find something that excites. From the first page this book grips you. You defiantly know its going to not disappoint. The main characters are likeable and you start rooting for them and wishing a happy ending from the start. The copy of the book was not very great.
The book I received was damaged. The binding was worn away and the book showed water damage and black marks on the top of the pages. I was super disappointed that this book would be shipped like this condition to a customer that paid for a new book.
I am an avid Robert Jordan fan and I was pretty impressed with Sanderon's stand-in writing of the latest Wheel of Time. However, Brandon Sanderson is no Robert Jordan. Although he is GOOD at fantasy I would not say he is a master. I think he excelled at The Gathering Storm simply because Jordan had already laid all the groundwork. He has an interesting story idea in Elantris (and a single book fantasy is refreshing) but he just doesn't have the character development that is needed to really a hook a reader. I didn't find myself much caring about the characters and I didn't really feel that I knew them. The love story is bland and unispiring and laced kind of clumsily throughout the book.
