Epson Consumer - Its Colour (F7) EcoTank ET-2850 5760X1440DPI

I like the potential savings that the ink tank system uses and feel that it may be better for the environment than all the cartridges and accompanying plastic that has come to keep my 2 Canon Pixmas going. The last canon pixma lasted less than 3 years. I have had issues setting the Epson up but I think that is because I have 2 different wireless networks in different parts of the house. The instructions were easy to follow on my 'phone and I am pleased that the software includes OCR system which has not been present on my pixmas. I never got the wireless going on either of the pixma printers even though it had worked on my previous HP office jet pro. Do wish manufacturers would allow you to return printers for recycling. Canon claim to be very environmentally friendly but don't want printers returned for refurbishing and want more to repair than the cost of a new machine. Printer is very quick in its lowest quality print setting, less so for better quality. I have not yet tried photo printing etc as I only got it 3 days ago.

A Terrible Product

This is the worse printer I have ever purchased, it constantly drops the wifi network connection, so I have to repeatedly go through the wifi set up process, which given the extremely small screen is not at all user friendly. The rear paper design is terrible and goes out of alignment regularly, just this morning after setting up the wifi again, I printed several documents OK then on my 3rd document print I got an error to say re-align the rear paper feed. Nothing had changed with the paper!Finally the mobile app is basically pants and doesn't work. If I hadn't gone beyond the date to return this product I would. Stay totally clear of Epson and go HP. I have now dusted off my old wifi HP printer adn going back to using that

Doing what its meant to do

I was in the market for a small laser printer for my home and home office. The salesperson at the Good Guys suggested I consider this. It threw me. I listened. I learnt. Went home. Researched. Researched some more. Decided it sounded like the right way to go. Im a few weeks in, a handful of print jobs and apart from the very first one where there was excess ink on the edge of the paper (must have been a first time glitch) it has printer perfectly each time and is proving to be the right choice so far. I was worried about it being slow but its fine. No complaints. Thankfully! I was worried Id get it home and be really disappointed. Im happy with my choice.

Good printer - saves money and good results

Mainly pleased with this purchase.First surprise when I took it out of the packaging was the size of the ink bottles - not surprising it should workout substantially cheaper to run when comparing amount of ink in the bottles compared what ink there would be in a normal ink cartridge. I also had a spare black ink bottle in the packaging - not sure if that is by accident or design.Setting up takes a while - mobile phone app went well on an Android phone. But not so easy setting up from the PC afterwards - both printer and PC must be on the same network - so if you have WiFi extenders a home, make sure that PC and printer are on the same connection. Being able to print a photo or document direct from a phone is a good feature and works well, at least on Android.Print quality, at least on paper (have not tried photo paper yet) is really good and whilst some have said it is slow, it is still much more rapid than the Canon printer I had before - I find the print speed perfectly acceptable for home use, though duplex printing is, as expected, slower.One disappointment is that it does not have a cassette for the paper - it just loads at the top, so not so neat as other printers, but at least it is always obvious how much is left. Paper output 'draw' also has to be manually opened, though it will still print without it, just the copies fall down as they came out.Not withstanding the shortcomings, I don't regret this purchase due to the economics of using an ink tank printer, print quality and speed and I would recommend.

Great printer really useful

I bought this as my old printer broke, when this arrived I couldn't believe how much smaller it was compared to my old one, and it does everything I want for a home printer, it doesn't have a document feed but then I don't really need one. The print quality is good it scans and prints double sided no problem. It was really easy to set up and I have saved the best to last the ink tank system is just great you can see how much ink you have it's easy to fill, it comes with 5 bottles 3 colour and 2 black. So much better than cartridges. I have only had it a couple of months but the ink levels have hardly dropped so hopefully this is going to last a lot longer. Ink comes in plastic bottles so easier to recycle than cartridges. The app is really good. Happy with this printer

Like a lot of people I did a lot of research before picking an ink tank printer. So far so good - it does seem quite economical ink usage wise and prints relatively quickly. It's quite loud but it's not as if I'm using it in the middle of the night so that's not a big issue for me. I know not to use it if I'm on a call / in a meeting.Generally it's great as a home office printer.It does not have an automatic document feeder which I was aware of as I didn't think I really needed it. But having had to scan a 20 page document manually (tedious) I think I should have gone for a model that had that functionality.Giving it 5 stars as I've had no issues with it, easy to set up and has the functionality that was described.

This Epson is the latest replacement and the first time we've tried this make. So far, it has behaved well. It was extremely easy to connect to our wi-fi and prints quickly and - if you set it for low noise - quietly. The print quality for black text is absolutely fine. I haven't printed in colour yet and probably won't for months. One or two reviewers have bemoaned a lack of a tray for the printed pages - just pull the bit where the paper comes out: it's a tray! Unbelievable bargain!!!

Fantastic printer. Set up easy using Epson App. First class customer service and support from Epson. Print quality excellent and photo printing acceptable. I thought Epson were exaggerating the amount it states you can print, but I was wrong ... it does print as states at very low overall costs. In comparison to my previous printer, I am saving as much as £200-00 per year, if not more! My advice ... don't delay buy today. Further, John Lewis offers the best deals and customer service and Epson also offers an extra 5 year warranty at a reasonable price. For the amount of printing I have to do, this printer will easily pay for itself in less than 12 months in direct comparison to previous Canon cartridge printer. Very low printing cost with decent printing quality.

The printer is an efficient machine which prints relatively quickly with decent print quality. The main selling point for me was the eco tanks and the low printing cost! $0.01 a page! The inks are comparitively cheap and last well and the colours are good - not perfect photo colour accuracy but good enough. Printed on semigloss photo paper and it came out almost as good as Kodak quality. I also had to have double-sided printing and this prints double-sided at a decent pace. I think for how much the printer costs it is a bit flimsy and plasticy compared to my previous Canon printer which cost a lot less and felt and looked a much better quality. The top edges of the pages sometimes curl up when printing and the output tray is suspended in the air so can't hold very much. I think a cheaper model with eco tanks would have been a better buy but The Good Guys don't stock them. The Good Guys do offer INCREDIBLE service though. I took out the concierge insurance and they offer an amazing guarantee! There was a problem during setup with the printer sucking up the ink and I took it back and they fixed the problem and would have immedietly exchanged it if it hadn't been resolved. It is a good printer that does a good job, with good print quality and amazing low cost printing, but it is expensive for what is is and I would have prefered to buy a cheaper Epson EcoTank model if they had stocked them.
