Not enough FLAVOUR!!!! I've always been curious about this cake mix after seeing it online for such a bargain price. Quantity wise it's on par with other brands on the shelf for peanuts pricing. The packaging isn't the prettiest but if it keeps this mix affordable for those that love it then it's fine. Mixes up well and looks the part but unfortunately what let me down here was flavour. There's no chocolate to be found here, just a generic 'tastes something like cake' flavour that left me wanting. I even tried chucking in some dark chocolate chips but alas not even they could make up for it. On the plus side the kids had great fun making and then eating (some of) their creation. Not something I would buy again though I'd guess the vanilla version would be much more ... MoreNot enough FLAVOUR!!!! Good Budget Option. I made this sample into cupcakes for my workplaces R U OK day. The feedback from my fellow employees was very very positive. I was surprised by how much everyone liked these. They would have been shocked to know that they were made from a 90c packet mix!!The cupcake I tried was a little dry for my liking but I think that had more to do with the fact that I left them in the oven just a little too long. I really liked that these cupcakes didn't have a HUGE amount of butter like some other well known brand mixes. I wish there was a little more chocolate flavour but when I make in future I'll definitely add a tad extra coco to the mix before baking. I loved that this mix was made from 93% Aussie ingredients and had no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives. I will definitely buy these essentials brand mixes again and actually have a vanilla mix sample to to try.

Value for money. The cake mix required a few additional ingredients, including eggs, milk and butter which was reasonable. The instructions on the packaging were clear and easy to follow, although the packaging itself looks cheap and basic, which I don’t mind at all. The cake wasn’t too sweet, which was good. But I would like a stronger chocolate flavour, as I hardly tasted any. The cake had a light texture. Very pleasant! The cake mix costs just a dollar, very cheap, especially with over 90% Australian ingredients. But I won’t buy again, because this basic cake mix is just flour, sugar and cocoa powder. I usually buy fancier cake mix, such as salted caramel and triple chocolate brownie, so I can make more complicated cakes with less effort.

Yummy cake hard to beat at this price. This chocolate cake mix for 75c is a bargain. We made this cake following the instructions, and did not add any extra ingredients, although if you had chocolate bits on hand adding those would take this basic but tasty cake to the next level. The resulting cake was moist and light with a large crumb, the chocolate flavour provided a nice hit of cocoa goodness. Overall the cake is a subtle but moreish treat, but would definitely benefit from some additions like choc bits or eating it with a scoop of good vanilla ice cream. But for 75c this cake mix is an easy recommend. Yum!

It Surprised Me in More Ways Than One. I never claimed to be a baker and rarely make cakes. Packet cake mixes do not excite me and I tend to avoid them. The instructions on the packet were simple and away we went - all good. Half-way through baking, I opened my microwave to do something else and there was the butter for the cake that I had put in there to soften and then forgot to put in the cake. I expected a biscuit rather than a cake and I used the butter to make a chocolate frosting to put on the 'biscuit'. I was surprised that even without fat, the cake was good. It would have been great, if only I hadn't messed up.

Easy cake to make. Easy to find in store and fully stocked. Easy chocolate. Cake to make simply add 2 eggs, butter and milk. I cooked the Woolworths Chocolate cake for the recommended time and it cooked up a treat. The cake had a nice chocolate flavour and the consistency of the cake was light. I simply sprinkled the chocolate cake with some icing sugar. I enjoyed the the cake with some cream and strawberry’s delicious. ✅ Fabulous price 90 cents Easy to make ✅Print on the packaging could be bigger ✅1. 5 ⭐️ Health Star rating Made in Australia from at least 93% Australian ingredients ✅No artificial Colours, Flavours or preservatives ✅Mix, mix, mixDelicious ✅ Thank you @bunchteam for my sample

Good cheap cake mix. I've used these before and they make good bases for more complex cakes once you get a feel for how the mix behaves. I was fortunate enough to get both a chocolate AND vanilla sample! What's a girl to do but make a marble cake I used greek yogurt instead of milk to get a fluffier moist texture and add to the cake flavouring. Added a chocolate buttercream frosting from the baking aisle and made for a dessert better than store bought with very little effort and half the clean up of a from scratch cake. Husband went back for thirds. They can be kind of basic made to recipe and I honestly have only made it as per packet the 1st time around.

Chocolate Cake Goodness. I was recently sampled the butter cake in the same range and loved it so was excited to see the chocolate cake sample. Again, easy to find at my local Woolworths, bottom shelf with other cake mixes. Great price at 90c and only add milk, eggs and butter. The batter smelt great as it was being mixed. It raises really nicely and looks and tastes great especially served with a dollop of cream. These mixes have really surprised me and will be regular purchases in my house. Thank you, Bunch, I would have really missed out if I wasn't given the opportunity to sample them.

You get what you pay for! Sorry but this cake is so bland. It didn't rise much either. The only positive is it was super easy to make - just add butter, eggs and milk however it tasted exactly like a 90c cake. My young son said it was nice but he does not have a sweet tooth whilst the rest of us all were not impressed. We sprinkled icing sugar on top to try and sweeten it up. Maybe putting some icing would have helped a little. Honestly, I would not waste my oven electricity to make this again. Edited to add: It did taste slightly better the next day after being kept in the fridge.
