Evoluent VM4S Wired Vertical Mouse 4 - Small Right

This is a replacement for my old Evoluent Vertical mouse. I have rheumatoid arthritis and this mouse if absolutely brilliant because it keeps my wrist and hand joints in natural alignment, thus reducing pain. And I love the added buttons, allowing me to do more things with just the click of a mouse.I can't remember how long I've had the old one. It's been years and years and years. In all that time, I never went anywhere without it, but never bought a proper case for it because they're too expensive. Unfortunately, a recent road trip around Australia where it got packed, unpacked and repacked over and over again finished off the old one and it started malfunctioning. Hence the replacement.

(Not the same version but same design) Comfortable. Prevents me from getting tendonitis in my arms and hands again. It's slower than using a regular mouse and took me a few weeks to get used to it, but it's worth it. When I switch back to a regular mouse, depending on how ergonomic that mouse is, I'll notice it's very uncomfortable within 1 hour to 1 day. Been using this vertical mouse for a year now, and safe to say I'll always use one.

The Evoluent Vertical Mouse 4 is a game-changer for those seeking ergonomic comfort. Its vertical design provides excellent wrist support, reducing strain and discomfort. The adjustable DPI settings allow for precise cursor control. However, its large size may not suit everyone, and the learning curve for using the thumb buttons can be steep. Overall, a worthy investment for improved hand and wrist health.

Chrome thumb placement area slippy. Not a good design at all.

It is only slightly smaller than the standard size they have, so if in doubt, don't buy this. I bought it despite really disliking the colour. Small hands, supposed to be for women, so lets make it pretty? Yuck. Worst of all is the shiny chrome thumb area. Slippy. I bought this to help my arthritis. Thought I just had to get used to it and that was why my hand was so sore using it. No. It was because I was gripping it. Other mice have a slightly rougher surface these days to improve grip. Not this. Also, if you do have a standard Evoluent, you have to just use the software for this - it wipes out the software for any other Evoluent mouse.

Comfort and programmable functionality

Having used a regular mouse for decades, pain in my hand, forearm and shoulder necessitated a change. I saw this brand for sale new and it was above my budget, especially when I didn't know if I'd like it or not. I find that it is very comfortable, but of course it does take getting used to. Using software, which is available on the manufacturer's website, some button functions can be customized. Not disappointed! I highly recommend the product.

[Rewarded Review] Awkward Hand Position

I felt as though my forearm was working to keep my hand and wrist in the position required by this mouse; it does not feel natural or ergonomic. To test this I pushed the mouse slightly away from me, while placing my arms in the position to use a mouse. The natural position of my hands rolled inward/downward towards the desk, which would be the hand position required the for the traditional mouse. When I moved my hand upward/outward, as required by this mouse, I could feel the strain again. So, this little test confirmed what I was feeling when I used this mouse.Yesterday I exchanged this for the Logitec M705 and am very pleased.

[Rewarded Review] Best ergonomic mouse you can buy.

This is a very good ergonomic mouse. It's not cheap, but Beast Buy has a competitive price and it is worth it. This replaced an older mouse (same model) that had been touched a few time too many by food (lunch) being eaten while mousing that caused some stickiness of the buttons. Obviously, don't let what you are eating with your hands get into the mouse.Buttons are programmable so you can add a double click button as one of the six buttons available (I use the middle one for this). Smooth operation all around. Great for long mousing time periods.

[Rewarded Review] Great Ergonomic Mouse

I owned two of these: one for the office (pre-Covid19) and one for home. They helped with my carpal tunnel syndrome. When I use someone else's regular mouse, my CTS comes back. My mice lasted several years (7 and 9 years) and I recently purchased a new replacement for the home mouse. The issue started with the right-click starting to malfunction. I've dropped them on the floor occasionally but they have lasted me a long time despite the long use and numerous drops.I also own the small wireless version (brown vs purple color) but I prefer wired because I don't like the response latency.

A vertical mouse takes a while to get used to; sometimes I have the tendency to grasp it at the top with my palm down like a regular mouse, but I'm willing to work with it. It's a big plus that the mouse buttons can be customized after you download and install the software. I wish Best Buy sold the wireless version of this small mouse. They sell the large Evoluent wireless mouse but not the small wireless version. I can't speak to the longevity of this product yet.

great ergonomic mouse

Very comfortable computer mouse. I get pain after using a regular computer mouse for more than 5 minutes; with this mouse, there's no more pain. I used it right out of the box. I haven't installed the software that allows fancy customization, so I can't speak to that. The middle button is great--no more clicking the scroll wheel to middle click.My only gripe is it seems to get greasy from time to time. I wipe it with Clorox wipe when it gets bothersome. I'm assuming this is from natural skin oils, but it's strange because I've never had this issue with any other mouse.
