I bought this because the regular pine pellets I usually get have been out of stock for nearly a month now. In one-word Feline Pine stinks! It smells like someone poured a gallon of bleach over the pellets. The smell is overpowering, even after I put the open bag in our attached garage. It's such a strong smell, that it not only gave me a headache. But I had to use my inhaler, because it triggered an asthma attack. After that, I just threw the bag away. Wasted my money, my time, and it made me sick. I can't imagine what that stuff would have done to my cats, if they had used it.

Best natural alternative to clumping litter.

I am taking back my dislike of this alternative to litter. This is what my local ASPCA uses and I used too after adopting my cat. I obviously did not understand how this works since I was upset that every time I needed to scoop up, the new unbroken pellets is what is left on the scooper. I used regular litter with my other cat- which I don't have anymore- and I thought that worked better. Well, I ignored the fact that cats have different habits and my current cat walks all around the house- not like my previous one that would stay all day on the couch-. My cat was leaving traces of litter everywhere!!! and she has this bad habit of throwing litter outside the litter box like is a game she enjoys. -she was a dog on another life I guess-I was sick of walking and ... MoreI am taking back my dislike of this alternative to litter. I really love the pine smell and I know now that the pellets are supposed to disolve with time and is the saw dust what does the work. I guess the pellets are just the way this are pack instead of us having a bag full of saw dust. Game changer- may not be for everyone but the fact that is natural is what I like the most.

Better odor control, cheaper, and safer for my cat!
21 March 2023

My cat has stinky poops and we couldn't keep her box in the bathroom anymore. It's in the living room by a window now so I can't speak on small spaces. Adjusting to this new litter has been a breeze! I was originally buying extreme scented litter and had to switch when she got spayed. Took a little while but I would just pour regular litter on top until she got used to the pellets. When I use too little of the pellets she had pee foot prints all over the floor and when I use too much she doesn't like to step on it. Now the house just faintly smells of sawdust (after about 10 mins from the time she goes). Attached a photo of how much it tracks after being used.

Big mistake! Going back to the Silica Litter.
15 January 2023

Not impressed.I switched to this litter from silica litter because of the hype. Silica litter causes silicosis because of all the dust, silica litter tracks more, it doesn't have the nice fresh pine scent, it isn't natural, etc., etc., etc., WHAT A MISTAKE!!!This litter was MORE dusty than the silica litter I had been using for years. True, it is less expensive, but in this case, I don't even believe you get what you pay for. Here is why - this pine litter broke down into sawdust too readily. If I wanted sawdust for litter, I could have gotten that a LOT cheaper price. It caused a mess all over the floor, so much for low tracking. The pine scent is however, nice. But overall, this was a mistake. I am going back to the silica litter I have used for years. My 15 ... MoreNot impressed.I switched to this litter from silica litter because of the hype. I am not exactly thrilled at silicosis, however, I am not exactly thrilled at having pine sawdust in my lungs either - both are irritants - simple solution - use a filtration mask when changing the litter box.

Favorite litter

We’ve been using this for years. We love it! Best part—it’s safer for our cat. He doesn’t have clumps of chemicals to lick off his paws with this litter. Yes, it can be a bit messy when our cat throws it outside of the box (we have a low profile one), but it’s nothing in comparison to the other brands. We keep a small broom set close by and sweep up the few stray pellets when we scoop the box. We do have a large mat at the box entrance which helps catch any pellets he walks out with. Yes, you need to scoop all the “powder” since the pine crumbles when wet. We scoop into dog bags once a day.

Happy cat Happy home.
20 February 2023

Recently tried this pine pellet liter for "Fritzy" my old rescue cat with poopy paws, he likes it, no dust, natural pine smell, urine sinks to the bottom immediately and is absorbed there, poop stays in a clump on top and the pellets cling to it when it gets buried. The pellets don't cling to his paws, any pellets that do fly out of the box do not track. I can shake the box and the dry poop/pellet clump comes to the surface to be picked up with a plastic bag or spoon and discarded. You cannot sift the litter, so you may have to add some occasionally. I find a large box with three inches in it will last the one cat about a week. No more dust everywhere powder room. Available in 40 pound bags delivered to my door.

Kitten was afraid of Feline Pine
12 July 2022

I used a different brand for my kitten that he loves but couldn’t find the brand anywhere… so it resulted in me trying Feline Pine. Long story short, I noticed the whole day he would use the bathroom until I observed him trying to poop on the floor next to his litter box… I hurried over to put him on the pins but he screamed and hopped out to try to poop on my shoes. For a few minutes my mom and I kept grabbing him to poop on his new pine litter but he was afraid of it.Luckily, when I threw away the other brand, I poured it out into doubled plastic bags because I was able to take it out of the trash and poured it back inside his litter box.He immediately pooped on it and was happy… I ordered the original brand of pallets that he likes online and will continue ... MoreI used a different brand for my kitten that he loves but couldn’t find the brand anywhere… so it resulted in me trying Feline Pine. No Stinky

This really improves the smell and is less messy than regular litter. It does break down fast. For multiple cats, it gets messy around the litter if you aren't around to clean it up right away. Consider getting a mat large enough to stick out around the edges. Also, don't use litter liners with this. The cats dig more vigorously in this litter for some reason and will shredded the bags into the pine pellets which is difficult to scoop. Otherwise I am pleased with this because the smell is nonexistent!

Not worth the effort
6 April 2023

We wanted an eco-friendly litter. First we used corn litter, until grain beetles put the kibosh on that. Tried this one instead. We didn't mind the smell, and the cat was OK w/it. But we've found that it's a lot of work to deal with the pine pellets. You either throw out a ton of litter to get the box clean every day or spend way too much time having to shake the pellets in the scooper and clear the sawdust that is created after the cat pees. Lately, I've ended up tossing the whole mess and cleaning the whole litter box twice a week. Time to try something else ....
