I wanted to leave a review that addresses some of the "cons" of this mug, based on other reviews I've read about this mug.First off, the smell. As frequently mentioned when it comes to the ceramic coating, there is definitely an onion-y type of smell. Personally, I find this smell to be a result of the oils that are produced when brewing coffee, and despite all the attention it gets, I find the smell to be coffee-like and inoffensive. I only notice the smell after the coffee has been drank and the mug has been cleaned.Secondly, the staining. I've owned two of these mugs now and they're used a LOT. Are they stained? Yup. This is my go to coffee mug. I use it every morning whether I'm traveling to a far away vacation or just to the couch with a book. I have a lid, but not even sure where it is... lol. It keeps my coffee perfectly toasty, and the thin lip creates a super enjoyable drinking experience. They are a bit wide, so that can be a challenge for some cup holders, including smaller hands. But I can't mark it down for something that is so obvious and not a flaw. We've had more coffee cup/mugs than we have had just about any other kitchen accoutrements, and Fellow makes the best. Love these, have one for myself and my wife.

Love this mug. It keeps things hot or cold for so long. My coffee lasts longer, each sip satisfyingly hot. Cold drinks stay cold— the ice remaining intact for hours.I also love the shape of the lip.My only complaint is that the gasket in the lid holds odors— everything smelling slightly of coffee even after washing as suggested (soaking with baking soda didn’t help). But I’ve learned to take the gasket out around the house if I want to drink something delicate without a coffee tint. Wish I had several gaskets! One for each kind of beverage…

Fantastic mug, perfect size for a cup. Keeps things nice and warm, looks good, easy to drink from, cleans up easy. The lid secures perfect without any leaking. Aeropress fits like a glove! It is wide and does not fit most vehicle cupholders, I knew this going in, no problem. For me, aeropress compatibility was more important. My truck has a pair of extra-wide cup holders that work for me. Otherwise, there are cupholder expanders that could help.My biggest complain is there is no sip lids for the wide travel mug. Why can't a person want a travel mug that fits the Aeropress AND can be used to drink from on the go? The prismo is juuuust barely bigger than the mug opening, so to brew, you've got to tilt the aeropress slightly, which is frustrating. It works, but not well (note that the regular aeropress filter will fit, but had Fellow made this lid all of 1mm wider, so would their own product, the prismo). Second, why are the sip lids not available for this mug? Such a bummer. Really was hoping for the whole Fellow/Aeropress ecosystem to work a bit smoother. All that being said, I love the build quality, insulation, and packability. No annoying carabiner loops or handles, and the color (a burnt orange) is great. The photos of the artist's illustration (Shan Shui version) we're unclear online. I was surprised to see that the lines on the illustration were fuzzy, like pencil or charcoal strokes, rather than bold, solid lines like it seems online. I don't hate it, but I would have liked to see this more clearly represented in the pictures online.The lid is the real problem for me. It's tricky to screw on correctly, which means it'll leak if you're in a hurry and screw it on without checking it's on right. The inner gasket also fits poorly, and keeps popping off. I needed a reliable way to carry a cup or two of coffee to the office as where I work has no coffee service. This certainly fit the bill. It has excellent heat retention and does not leak at all, even after being jostled around in my messenger bag. My one complaint; it can only be used with the lid completely off. There's no sipping mechanism under the lid on this one. Which means if you want to sip your coffee intermittently, as I often do while working. The lid either needs to be removed completely, thus cooling the contents quite quickly or my drink needs to be constantly covered and uncovered. Neither is ideal. I likely should have read the description more closely. It's very good overall at keeping my precious cargo safe & hot during my commute--so it's a keeper.
These are so beautifully crafted. Form and function. Drinking from this mug is a joy. I absolutely love the design. They ship quickly and I live in the area, so delivery was lightning fast. I highly recommend these for your insulated mug needs. The wide mug is my preferred one to the Carter move that is narrower, but be aware the wide doesn’t fit in the standard car cup holder, while the Carter move does. Something about the 12oz Carter mug just feels so homey and cozy I like it best. If the lid is closed it fits well enough in my car cup holder not to worry if it tips, but definitely not open.

Cleaning the seal is a straightforward process. The seal isn't so burly that you can get in the little fold and get out the mold growth pretty easily.The advertised feature regarding the Aeropress fit doesn't really work. The tolerance is so close that the tiny bit of expansion from heated plastic gets the Aeropress stuck in the rim every time. Quality control over this mug's rim tolerance can use improvement. I purchased two mugs - the gift mug could fit an unheated Aeropress coffeemaker but my own was too tight. The carter wide has been the perfect solution to this problem: comfortably short but a tad wider so as to not lose too much capacity.There are only two downsides for me:1) since it’s wider than the standard carter mug, I can’t use any of my other carter mug lids with it (I have every other lid except one) - obviously this makes sense, it’s just an intrinsic downside to it imo.2) it doesn’t come with a splash guard like the standard carter mug.
