The Fender CD-60 sce is a quality guitar for the money. Whether you are a beginner or an intermediate player the guitar seems to be built to last. The solid spruce top and the internal build of the guitar creates a good sound that allows the treble tones to ring out, as well as keep the mellow low tones of a Fender guitar. The narrow neck, and thin profile allows for somebody with smaller hands to play it a little easier. As any new guitar especially at this price point, you can make some adjustments to help with the action and minor fret BuZz, but overall out of the packaging the guitar comes ready to play and sounds very good. Fishman and Fender partnering up in the pickup make a quality sound out of the PA. Remember there is better quality gear and guitars out ... This guitar is beautiful, the mahogany is true to the image on Musicians Friend. I looked at many pictures of this model before buying, with some people's guitars looking true to what this site had and some with much less striking wood grain and more of a matte finish. The mahogany is beautiful and has a strong mid tone, which is what I like. It's not too bassy or too twangy, plus if you plug it into an amp you can control the eq with the Fishman. The built in tuner is phenomenal, and I read complaints about the hardware, specifically the tuning pegs and associated machinery being cheap. I think they are solid, this guitar stays in tune very well, and I often switch from standard to open D. The cutaway is beautiful, and it may be a laminated top but it still sounds ... The cutaway is beautiful, and it may be a laminated top but it still sounds pristine with very nice highs. This is a great acoustic guitar if you need that sound to really punch through in a band that might overwhelm an acoustic. Sounds great by itself too.I also read reviews that said the frets are cheap and wear quickly, but I haven't experienced this. It comes with a spare bridge, a few bridge pins, an alan wrench, and keys for the case locks. I also read about the action being too high, but the truss rod is easy to access from the ovation hole at the base of the neck. My action was just fine. Finally, the fact that it comes with a hardshell case is a fantastic deal. The case is nice and snug fitting. It has a Fender logo on it which I thought would be metal and enamel filling or something like that but it's actually wooden. Nice touch. Overall this is a great steel 6 string with some great small touches and bonuses- cutaway, all mahogany, abalone rosette, cool arch top which you don't often see on Fenders, Fishman tuner/pre-amp, nice case, free guitar stand, all with the Fender name. How is this not an Epiphone at that price?

Overall:The wife wanted to learn to play she had a $30 guitar, so I bought her the Fender. She loves it. I decided to get back into playing after 50 years, went out and bought a TeleCaster MIM, Ibanez RG421. Thing is I keep playing the CD60-SCE, The neck is comfortable the clean tones and sounds it makes are what I want to hear. It don't hurt that it is a beautiful guitar. Plugged into a 40 Watt RMS Acoustic amp, with a little Chorus, awesome. Its my favorite and I play it till my fingers hurt, love it. No problems in 5 months, I did put XL strings on it, I asked my guitar guy to set it up, he said he could raise the action if I wanted but he thought it was perfect. zZounds delivered it in two days.

I use it for recording and playing. The sound is great. The mahogany gives it a warm tone, yet full of projection. The guitar is built very well and is easy to play. It has a great feel, and it is a joy to play. I recommend buying this guitar! It has all the features of a fine guitar, it even has a tuner built in. I am very happy with this guitar!
First of all, this is a gorgeous guitar. It looks just great. It has a big, rich sound even moreso than other larger bodied guitars I've seen. The tuner works great. I love playing it.A few minor issues. First, I find the action high, & the bridge is not adjustable. 2nd, the complaints others have offered about the fret edges being VERY rough are entirely true: you can practically leave your hand bloody, I'm sure, if you play long enough, just from being roughed up by the fret edges. I'll try filing them down & refinishing them, as some have suggested. Finally, you'll want to get rid of the strings & go with a lighter gauge, partly to alleviate the high action issue.I'd get this guitar again. I think it is a $500 - $600 guitar lurking for only a little more than ... MoreFirst of all, this is a gorgeous guitar. It looks just great. Poor quality control! Neck is a mess with all of the fret ends protruding and sharp. One fret is noticeably higher causing all kinds of issues. Inside edge of the sound hole is poorly finished and some of the ribs look rough, like they weren't sanded smooth. This one's going back!
After much deliberating, got this as a beginner/intermediate guitar for 14 year old who is having guitar lessons. Glad we got the black as he just loves it so it wants to play it. Has nice low action. Brilliant guitar, sounds loud and rather wonderful.
I started learning electric guitar about 3 years ago, and have improved a lot with persistent practice. When I decided it was time to buy an acoustic, all the experienced players I talked to said 'get a Yamaha.' So, I did my research, did some play tests, and ended up with a Yamaha FG830. Now, this was a fantastic sounding guitar, just beautiful... but... a little ringy, and boomy on the lower end for me. I guess this is something the really experienced players like? Not sure. When I picked up this Fender cutaway, Whoa! Now that's what I'm talk'in about! I loved it so much... very rich, full tone, which can be mellow when it needs to be. Just the right amount of sustain. Long story short, I traded in the Yamaha for this Fender CD-60sce ... no regrets. I can't put ... I like the neck better than the Yamaha, and the action was super easy to set with just a quarter turn of the truss rod. I think I'm hooked on this guitar. If something were to happen to it, I'd get another -- same model, same color. The instrument is flawless, very solid construction. I am so, so impressed! If you've been looking at this model, go get one! It's perfect.
This is easily an intermediate guitar at an entry level price point. I’ve owned many acoustic guitars including Martin Taylor and Gibson acoustics. I’m not saying this is one of those names, but at this price point your gonna have a hard time beating this one. The Fishman electronics sound fantastic plugged in. It’s has an understated yet attractive design, the tuner is spot on, and the neck is easily approachable. It’s one of those “do it all” guitars that you don’t have to worry about taking out of the house, and it won’t let you down. If it had a different name on the headstock you’d be paying 5-600 dollars for it. Lots of value in this one, one of the best guitars I’ve owned and literally my favorite one to play.
ive had three of this guitar model and all of them have gone bad. two of them were replaced because the repairs that were needed cost more than the guitar is worth. on the first one, the high e string stopped changing notes at around the 7th fret and it was so raspy that it was impossible to get a good sound out of it. the technician took one look at the neck and he immediately told me he's gonna just give me a new one because it was too far gone and i had the guitar for only a few months. the second one got extremely raspy and the internal electronics for the amp stopped working. over half of the frets on the neck were bad. the technician called me to tell me that it was worse then he thought and that he was gonna have fender replace the guitar. i got my third one ...
