Potentially a great classic guitar with worthy upgrades. Love the rolled edge fingerboard and 2 extra tones courtesy of a pull tone control giving 7 pickup configurations. Guitar arrived with string broken at the locking tuner - so not convinced that particular upgrade is so great. Once restrung I realised position 5 on pickup selector didn't work. On packing guitar for return the zip broke on the gig bag as not stitched in at the end. Just waiting for replacement now. I think a tremelo arm spring could have been included in the price as the arm relies only on friction of the thread when screwed in. It would have cost nothing. Otherwise, wow, it's a cracking Strat!

As advertised, I was expecting that full set up was included in the purchase. However, it looks and feels like the guitar wasn’t set up. For a 12 inch radius neck, string action height is quite high at 2mm. Frets with visible scratches, unpolished and some not leveled. Body looks like its not polished as well. With regards to the build quality, I notice some scratches already on the coated fretboard, looks like it has been rub with sandpaper. The other one I noticed was the body’s neck pocket. Doesn’t look very clean compared to my other MIM fender, a bit of gap and some small paint chipping noted.

Title says it all. Best guitar I've ever owned in my life. Love the pickups and that I can get totally clean tone with great clarity. Love the push/pull tone knob because I feel like you can make this sound like multiple different guitars and get the sounds you need out of this one alone. All that being said and the best aspect of the guitar is still the neck. Flat out without question the most comfortable neck I've ever played. If I could get the Player Plus quality neck and some vintage pickups for my Classic Player Special Jazzmaster it would be my all time favorite guitar. Can't say enough about this strat. You're getting a serious step up in quality from the usual guitars you encounter at this price point. You won't be disappointed.

Used click & collect and on checking in store found the bridge pickup not working. Got another by courier two days later. Not all will like the Noiseless pickups - I didn’t. There was a lot of lacquer on the frets but it was uneven - some had been worn off by a previous player who had also presumably returned it - meaning that at first glance the frets looked rough. Finally it was difficult to achieve a good playing action, which was surprising given the 12” neck radius - leading to the conclusion that the frets needed professional work out of the box. A shame because the overall fit and finish is pretty good. A minor point is that the push pull switch is slightly awkward to use - a knurled knob would be better for this. Staff in store very helpful when it came to returning the guitar.
I ordered this (in Cosmic Green) sight unseen, primarily because the Player series are such great instruments, and this Player Plus has a few extras I really wanted (rolled fingerboard edges, 12 inch fretboard radius, block saddles, locking tuners, and that killer green color that is at once both very Fender-ish and a standout, unique finish). What I wasn't prepared for was the excellence of the pickups. I almost always change out the pickups in a Strat, but not on this one. The bridge humbucker is fantastic, it's single coil mode is shockingly useful, and both of the single coils chime and spank. Position 4 is probably the best sounding Position 4 I've ever heard on a Strat. This guitar turned out to be absolutely awesome, almost to the quality level of a deluxe ... This guitar turned out to be absolutely awesome, almost to the quality level of a deluxe American made Strat for the price of an entry level American made Strat. I say almost, because 6 of my fret ends needed to be polished down a touch, which took me all of five minutes to do, but you don't typically have to do that for an American Strat. So, bottom line: this is an excellent guitar, well worth the money.
The player plus adds nice, but not essential, features to the player series. The main player plus features are the locking tuners, noiseless pickups, American style bridge and flatter neck radius. I brought this as a second guitar to my American Deluxe Stratocaster. Comparing these two instruments side by side I am very impresses with the player plus. The neck feels great to play and the pickups sounds really good. The player plus is not quite as nice as the American but considering it is less than half the price there is nothing to complain about. On a budget I would not hesitate to have a player or player plus as my main guitar. The setup on the guitar was awful. On the Scan website it did say to leave an extra day for a free setup and I delayed shipping because of that. However the strings buzzed at many frets and the bridge was not floating to Fender's specification. And an hour's setup doing the relief, action and floating bridge the guitar plays amazingly. If you can't do your own setup I advise you contact Scan to find out if they will do the setup to Fender's spec for you. Alternatively a local guitar shop or luthier should be able do it for you. The setup was not personally important to me as I will tune whatever setup I'm sent to my preferred setup so this was not a negative for me.Scan are not known (to me) to be a guitar reseller but are respected in the computing world. The guitar selection that Scan have is good and the price is competitive. The correct guitar arrived on time and well packed, brand new and genuine. For these reasons I recommend Scan and will use again without hestitation.
Wanted to hold off on review until I had a chance to play for extended period. Ready to offer opinion now after playing for a couple months. Guitar is solid if not stellar in all aspects. I've had the player strat for over a year now and it is absolutely as good or better than ANY American strat I've ever owned so I was hoping the player plus wouldn't disappoint and it hasn't. Near perfect right out of box. Low action, no fret buzz, straight neck, very playable and comfortable. Frets are polished and smooth, same as my player strat. I love the locking tuners, noiseless pick-ups and coil split on humbucker. Guitar sounds amazing. Because control knobs are tapered it makes the tone knob hard to pull out when coil tapping but it's not a big issue. The cosmic jade ... The cosmic jade finish is flawless and beautiful, it compliments my burst green Les Paul very nicely. I play it mainly thru a boutiqued Blues Deluxe and '68 Deluxe Reverb and I love the sound on both amps and there is no 60 cycle hum due to the noiseless pick-ups that retain the highly sought after legendary strat tone. I can't say enough about this guitar, it has exceeded my expectations. Probably won't buy any more American made Fender guitars, they just aren't any better imho so why spend the extra money. There is no longer any difference in the guitars except for where they are assembled. Thank you Fender for another great guitar.
Picked this up (in Opal Spark) at my local GC last week. Fit and finish is flawless; rounded edges on the fingerboard make the guitar feel and play like an old friend. Set-up was basically perfect out of the box, including proper intonation. I was skeptical about the noiseless pickups, but they are superb - rich and full in the neck and good spank in the bridge. The best part of the electronics is the push-pull feature on the bridge tone knob; it brings in the neck pickup, which allows you both to replicate the middle position on a tele and, in my favorite tone, to activate all three pickups at once for a unique tone that really can't be produced on most strats. Unlike most strats, the noiseless pickups really handle high amounts of gain beautifully. I'm very ... MorePicked this up (in Opal Spark) at my local GC last week. I was very dissapointed when i got this guitar. Firstly the end knob was missing off the 5 way toggle switch even tho it had been quality controlled singed off by 4 people. Secondly it didnt seem like it was brand new and thirdly and the reason i ended up sending it back is because it just would not stay in tune no matter how much i messed about with it. I phoned PMT who just kept saying its because the strings are new. And it might have dropped out when it was shipped across the water etc. I bought an ibanez 6 months ago. That hardly needed tuning right out of the bix and stays in tune all the time. Anyway the guy i spoke to said tighted the strings more so i did, then one snapped. So by this time od lost all patience and faith with it and sent it back even tho i ... MoreI was very dissapointed when i got this guitar. A guitar with a fender name behind it shouldnt have the problems i had to put up with. Its put me off fender guitars and buying from PMT again.
Overall:The color on this guitar is wonderful. However, the cost for what you get on this instrument is not good. First the good... of course the color is fun and unique and great to look at and the saddles on this guitar are perfect and wont tear up the furniture or your hands and lastly the locking tuners are great and keep the guitar in tune especially on those dive bombs. Now the bad...First and foremost, It has a modern C neck profile which is fine if you are a beginner but many of my musician friends hate them. It's sad, but lately the modern C or the deep C is the only neck Fender seems to wants to pump out. Every stage musician I know only uses a soft V, mid sixties C or an oval shape...but mostly a soft V. Secondly, the bridge has a zinc block which is ... Every stage musician I know only uses a soft V, mid sixties C or an oval shape...but mostly a soft V. Secondly, the bridge has a zinc block which is just no good for sustain or sound transfer (steel is needed). Lastly, Fender noiseless pickups...to my ear and every musician I have ever met that played guitar (save Eric clapton)...just doesn't cut it. As far as what's left on the guitar it's all pretty common and relatively cheap to make or buy. The price on this guitar seems way to high, and for me to buy it just for the positive items I have already mentioned seems a waste. Honestly, after the neck replacement, the bridge and block replacement (not the saddles) and the pickup replacement, I would be out another six to eight hundred dollars just because I like the looks of this guitar. AHHHH...NO. I love Fender guitars but for the last two to three years there has not been one single new guitar that I would buy. PEACE
