The light up Fisher-Price xylophone is a great toy for keeping your little one happy. The learning aspects with numbers and letters is great. The colorful light up action is a great way to hold their attention and want to interact with it more. I think between 12 and 18 months is the appropriate age. My only complaint is that I wish it had more options, but for its price point you can’t be upset. Great learning toy :).

Where do I start? As soon as I removed it from the packaging, I was first impressed by the “smart stage selector” as I checked it out before giving it to the little one; this a great feature to have the toy grow with the child. It makes the learning catered and not general for all. As he played with it, his reaction to the sounds and colors was immediate! I saw his face light up & really could see the gears turning. He pulls it around everywhere with him. I think this will be a great tool to reinforce the learning he’s doing with numbers & colors.

The Fisherprice Giant Xylophone is a hit with our 17 month old girl! Its oversized and perfect for pulling around and hitting the 8 buttons. It is bright and colorful. The 8 keys all light up and each one has a number, shape and alphabet letters. It has 3 different modes and talks to the little ones. The first mode is in english and will state a number shape or sound. It also sings the alphabet. Mode 2 teaches the numbers in spanish, has different music, and describes each shape. The 3rd mode plays a musical note wit each button press exaclty like a xylophone. The sound is at a perfect level, not too loud and not so quiet that its hard to hear. The long handle and wheels are perfect for little ones to pull around. This toy gets 5 stars for sure.

We used it the xylophone in our house with our son. Unfortunately, it didn’t keep his attention for more than a couple min. He did like pushing the buttons to see the lights but idk how much he would learn from it because he just pushes a button, watches the lights and pushes another button, even if the first one wasn’t done doing whatever it was doing. He also likes pulling it around. The most engaged he was with it was when he was walking on it like a balance beam or when he was trying to figure out the on/off/volume switch because he saw me do it and wanted to try. I don’t necessarily see the downsides of this toy as being isolated to *this* toy - but my son was much more interested in playing with his cars and other toys.
This is a really cute toy. It scared me at first because it started making talking noise when i got it. It was on when it was packed. Which is no big deal just unexpected lol. It is very cute. I love how it lights up. Has 3 different learning stages for your child. My 1.5 yr old loves to just sit and press all the buttons. He loves the songs and colors.
This toy is great in so many ways. It lights up, is multilingual, has letters, numbers, colors, sounds and songs about all of those things. But in the setting for music the xylophone’s notes ascend to the left instead of to the right. It’s backwards. It’s a great toy but a terrible music starter since opposite of how most musical instruments work. It’s really a shame, I wish they would fix this!
This toy was perfect for my sons age group (2 years old). Not only did he use the pull out handle to push it around the house while it played tunes, but he sat on it and loved how interactive it was when touching the colorful numbers while it taught him numbers. Very educational for math at a young age. He repeated what it said. It was fun for him and he loves this toy!
As a parent I love how this will grow with my child. It is great that it can be used as just an xylophone but also has different stages that says the numbers, abcs and shapes. My one year old son enjoys banging on it and seeing the keys light up. He also loves that it has wheels so he can push it. He does lose interest in it rather quickly. My three year old is very into instrument toys and she loves this. She pulls it around the house and plays songs with it!!
Just bought this for my 18 month old granddaughter. It is a lot of fun but we are all disappointed that the C Major Scale is in reverse! This is very frustrating as we are a musical family & would not wish any of our family babies to learn from the cradle back to front! Also the letters are in capitals and this is not the way pre-school and reception children are taught, they learn in lower case letters. At least they got the numbers correct! So only 1 out of 3
The XL xylophone is awesome!!! My 16 month old daughter loves it! And it does a pretty good job of keeping my very curious 4 year old son interested enough to give me some rest time! The product itself is very well put together. The colors, the lights, the sound make this thing a blast for the kids. The button layout is perfect for my 16month. Very simple but enough to challenge her as well. And then you add the handle with the WHEELS?! Mattel, you guys have cracked the code with kids! Anything with WHEELS my kids automatically fall in love with! My daughter loves pulling and pushing the xylophone around probably more than playing the music. My son on the other hand, loves using it as his “tow-truck.” With all that said and done… you hit this one out of the park! 3 ... MoreThe XL xylophone is awesome!!! My 16 month old daughter loves it!
