Well balanced and, because the strong handle is light in weight means that that most of the weight is in the head which gives maximum drive to each cut. Ideal for hedge-laying and splitting as well as bigger tasks, I really great addition to my country-work tool kit.

Absolutely the best hatchet you can get for the price. Handle is hollow, so for my bushcraft needs I have filled it with some paracord 550, a lighter, fatwood and ferro rod. Amazing for cutting small trees, making kindling and feathering wood.Only downside is that the handle is very strong strengthened plastic that (from most reviews) is better on your hands/wrists for chopping than a wooden one, which does little to minimise the impact. But it's still plastic, so environmentally:* If you want this for regular use you should buy it for sure* If not just get one with a wooden handle, you'll be happier and it's better for the environment

Lovely light weight and effective axe for my grandchildren and I to use, as amateur Bushcrafters. Must remember to supervise my 10yr old when they teach their 2yr old sibling how to use the axe.... Bump!! Ouch! Aaaaargh!! As it clonks the 2yr olds head - big funny bruised egg! Ah - how will I explain that at the Hospital? .... The grandchild was fine... Anyway it was no reflection on this excellent little axe - perfect for making a Den and collecting/preparing firewood
Possibly the best little hatchet I have ever used.I've used plenty of cheap ones over the years but this is in a another class altogether.Sharp enough to tackle hardwood chunks, and shallow angle enough to create fethersticks, also well suited to accurate cuts for construction. perfectly balanced and moderate weight, This is a perfect bushman's axe, or survival tool. very versatile.The packaging is reusable to protect the perfectly sharp factory edge.

This is a brilliant little axe which I use for wood carving. It keeps a very sharp edge and hones when when it needs restoring. I am delighted with it. The price for this is far less than that of a conventional wood carving axe. I often use it to chisel wood before knifework...it is that sharp.
Great little axe for taking away camping. I used to take a big log splitter but this works great. Great for the small jobs. Feels light but with good axe head weight.
I got this to chop kindling instead of using my axe and but it's useless as the blade is too short. In comparison I used a neighbour's hatchet the weekend before and that was great.
I wanted a small good quality hatchet as my other was quite a bit heavier ... I knew that Fiskars was a top quality manufacturer and I read some reviews on this and the X5 ... The X5 was just a bit too short and light in weight, so I opted for the X7. It arrived very quickly and I checked the cutting edge ... It was pretty sharp to begin with and in a very short period of time was touched up to a near perfect edge ... Not quite able to shave with, but not far off ... With a bit more time spent on it, it really would have been ultra sharp ... When it needs to be touched up again, I will take more time on it and eventually use a strop to make it perfect ...
