A camera that produces images of awesome quality. While it many be larger than many recent cameras it is no larger than a DSLR camera like a Nikon D850, I found the camera easy to use and simple to customise to my own liking of settings. I have found it to be a great bit of kit, truely reccomended

I purchased this camera solely for landscape photography & wanted medium format quality along with compactness & light weight so it did not disappoint in this department. After owning a IQ260 Phase One digital back I can honestly say that this camera is equal in the image quality it produces so I am delighted with that aspect. However considering the short amount of time I have had to use this camera I have come across a couple of design issues which are minor but should have been thought out at the development stage. Firstly when the camera is in portrait orientation after recording an image & playing back, the image does not auto rotate so you have to turn your head sideways to view what you have just captured. Secondly I was excited about the aspect ratio in camera cropping but it seems you can only use this feature when recording both jpeg + RAW. I only need to record RAW images so when I switched to RAW only the cropping feature is inaccessible. I don't really want to fill my card up with jpegs & I would have expected the cropping feature to apply to RAW only so this was a big disappointment. All in all it is a fantastic camera let down by trivial design faults which hopefully will be corrected with the next version of the GFX-50.

I have not had a lot of time with this new camera. I have only been able to take a few quick pictures in the back yard. Having never seen or held a digital medium format camera before I didn't know what to expect. It's about the same size and weight as a Nikon D810 so not to bad. It is definitely easy to hand hold to take pictures. I bought it with the 63mm f/2.8 lens which was much larger then I thought. I can't image what the other two lenses would look like on the camera as they are much larger. The camera is very responsive, no lag that I can see with turning it on and taking pictures. The controls are all well placed with the exception of the playback and trash buttons which are a little hard to get to. The camera feels very good in your hand and Fuji has made just about every button customizable which is a nice feature. If you shoot with a X-T1 or X-T2 this camera will feel very similar. The few photos that I have taken (jpeg only) were amazing. There is a learning curve with this camera, the depth of field is huge and you really have to watch it when your taking a photo. Also you have to careful of the shutter speed when shooting handheld. The old rule of 1/focal length doesn't apply to this camera to get sharp shots. I would say it's at least 2/focal length. So for this camera anything lower than 1/125s you may get blurry shots handheld with the 63mm lens. Overall for the short time I have had this camera, I love it! I would recommend it to anybody interested in getting a medium format camera.

Beautiful camera of course, images are immaculate. It will obviously be slower and struggle with focusing compared to modern smaller sensor cameras, but you’re not exactly running and gunning with medium format sensors. You have to be at peace with Fuji quirkiness, because the results are amazing.Attached pic is not of the camera but by the camera.

Enjoyed the rental process!
6 December 2022

I recently visited the East Coast, and I wanted to rent a camera as I didn't want to go through the hassle of bringing all my gear. This was also a chance to try out a new camera, so I did some research and found LensRental. They answered all my questions and concerns, and I successfully was able to pick up and drop off the camera (I rented the GFX 50SII and the 63 2.8). The camera + lens was in fabulous condition and worked sooooo well during my time in NY. I would absolutely rent again from LensRental- the customer service was fabulous and they have a great selection of equipment to rent/buy!

This is my first experience with a medium format camera and I'm bowled over by the detail and IQ this camera and lens (32-64mm) produce for still images -- and presumably for video, though I've not yet tried that. Adorama was great to deal with and I unhesitatingly recommend it, though I do have a couple of quibbles with the camera. The quibbles:(1) Fujifilm's method of locking the strap's clip to the lug is a poor patent. I've lost the connection twice on one side when the 14mm wide piece of plastic flew off (one time lost for several days). It seems to be a bit narrower than the other one, perhaps due to manufactured intolerance. I've now used clear fingernail polish to discourage the plastic lock bits from flying off.(2) The Q button is always getting bumped ... MoreThis is my first experience with a medium format camera and I'm bowled over by the detail and IQ this camera and lens (32-64mm) produce for still images -- and presumably for video, though I've not yet tried that. It isn't used often enough to be there and it's frustrating to have the Q menu popping up when I'm trying to focus. I suppose I'll get used to it, but Fujifilm should move it on a "Mark II" model. Perhaps I can install a bare wire next to it connected to the battery to zap me every time I put my thumb there. ;-)

Fuji GFX 50S II Medium Format
18 December 2023

I have been meaning to rent the Fuji GFX 50S II. The kit came early, well protected, reasonably priced, and as described! I'm really glad I got to use this camera, it actually informed me on making a decision should I go medium format. Thank you lensrentals!

Medium Format Divinity
31 March 2023

Sometimes the best things in life are on a lofty pedestal that keeps it out of reach. However, sometimes things get a little closer to attainable via entities like Lensrentals. Being afforded the luxury of spending a week with the GFX 50s *may* have spoiled me. It was a joy to use, and the shipping back and forth was as easy mode as it gets. Yet another reason I’ll be a Lensrentals devotee for life.

The technology behind this camera is stunning. The quality of the larger sensor is truly obvious when you take a picture. I didn't have to do anything to the raws because they were true to color and contrast. Very Impressive!

Superb camera
3 April 2022

The Fuji gfx 50s is an excellent step into medium format digital photography. Weighing no more than a standard dslr such as an EOS 5D variant, it handles differently yet is immediately familiar to former canon users to navigate the menus and in handling it to shoot. The quality of images is superb providing 50mp raw files, enough for any demanding picture editor. The Fujinon glassware is amazing too, if a tad pricey but there are deals and canny second hand buys to be made. Its a slightly slower and more considered way to work if you choose to work that way and as such suits my approach to photography perfectly sitting below my two 5x4 studio and field cameras in my range of tools. Ive now got a hasselblad 500cm full kit for sale, anyone want to buy it?
