Generously sized mat, both extra long and very cushioned, with a convenient wrap-around carrying strap. One significant drawback is that the mat stretches when my feet are in opposition, for instance in a warrior 1 position. It also squeaks, but I suspect that will stop when it dries out a little (I love in a dry climate).I would not buy it again because of the stretching.

I bought this mat on the strength of other reviews (here and elsewhere) but am sorry to say that I am disappointed with the quality. The material marks quite easily and is also a bit too spongey underfoot when doing some yoga moves requiring balance. The strap is also poorly made and has already started to fray. I've only had the mat a couple of months and think I'm going to have to replace it much sooner that I would have expected for a product costing this amount.

Great heavy mat! I got a thinner gaiam mat that I liked but slipped a lot on my living room carpet where I workout. This one is very thick and supportive so less slip. It does still curl a tad on the ends and the foam has chipped a small amount after a few uses. Overall recommend!

My dog ate most of my last yoga mat and I've been looking for a decent replacement. This one is brilliant it's 10mm thick so is so comfortable and the grey and black really stands out. Great carry handle on it too. Highly recommended.
This is my first yoga mat, so I don't really have any basis for comparison. However this has been working well for me, so I'm glad I purchased this product. Being brand new, it is offgassing a scent that is reminiscent of a busy wharf at low tide, but I'm sure that will dissipate over time. All in all, this is a purchase I am happy I made, and I'm happy my friend recommended this brand of Yoga mat to me.
GAIAM needs to step up the game when it comes to 'fitness' mats. Although it has a nice colour the density of the foam is super airy and the mat looks beaten up after a proper HIIT session. The foam will not spring back to its original state at all and becomes deformed leaving any fitness enthusiast unhappy. TPE is a much better material for making fitness mats than the creators of this mate used here.In terms of aesthetic the colour and the surface of the mat looks ok, but just because it is black and GAIAM is printed on it with neat capitals, this is still very far from a good mat. Perhaps one could use it for yoga but even then, you will end up with holes in the mat after a few downward dogs. The 'strap' that comes with the mat is extremely cheap looking, ...Β MoreGAIAM needs to step up the game when it comes to 'fitness' mats. The mat came a little bit damaged and the mat doesn't have very good grip. It's a strange texture to have your hands on and it's very very static-y. I realize it's not a yoga mat, but I would still like more grip for when I'm on my hands. I am using this now as a cushion under my regular yoga mat to help my knees since it is too static-y to exercise on directly. It's very squishy. For the price I can't complain too much
Being just 6 foot I have found this Yoga mat to be a really great length for exercising. I seem to be able to stay on it despite the various contortions I go through. Also being new to Yoga I have no other mat to compare it to but its floor area is more than enough for my needs for now. The mat is quite deep so it is very comfortable on my bare feet and it doesn't slide about at all on my carpet. It was the most expensive of the choices on John Lewis but I guess you get much more mat for your money in terms of length and depth.I like the basic design with just a dark colour and a single logo. Minimalist but classy, looks better than the photo.
Really nice and squishy. When doing my stretching and floor exercises it's really comfortable. I wish they had colors other than red when I purchased mine since I don't like red, but every other color was sold out. I still would recommend to others (even in red, haha)
I use this mat for a lot of floor workouts that involve being on my back and knees. It's relieved all the pressure I had previously and is so comfortable.I would give it 5 stars because I like it so much, but it has a slight odor to it, which has been a little distracting, and doesn't provide very much grip for hands. I put another thin yoga mat on top of it and that has helped with those two issues.
