Pros: Easily/Seamlessly works with Garmin watch and is really good at locking in on the flag. Better than the Bushnell, TEC TEC, and other range finder that I own. Magnet is super strong and held better than I anticipated. Red yardage coloring is easily viewed.Con: Optics could be a little more robust. There is a slight fog or haze ring at the very edge of the eye piece when initially looking through the unit. Once centered with your eye it is almost non existent.I have waited for this to come out and I am very pleased with the product and would but it again immediately.
When this was released I figured it would be a good combo with my Garmin watch that I usually play with. I will say it was better than I expected. Once I had line of sight on the flag, I could laser the flag and set the rangefinder down. I would have the distance to the flag for the rest of the hole on my wrist. Such a cool feature that I used quite a lot. Rangefinder itself is good, accurate and exactly what you would expect. The added GPS feature of knowing its location if you leave it behind is also a big plus. I think it is worth considering on its own, but if you play with a Garmin watch with the golf app on it, this is a no brainer to pair with. Glad I picked this up and purchasing from PlayBetter was the way to go. Fast shipping and helpful staff.
I owned a Bushnell but I unfortunately lost it 😕 Because I have a Garmin S62 I especially love the Garmin Approach Z30. I love the fact that it pairs to my watch and give me the information from the scope to my watch while showing the green and pin placement. The red color of the display is perfect and much easier to read. The Bushnell did lock onto a target a little quicker than the Garmin. If you have a Garmin watch this ranger finder is a must, if you don't own a Garmin watch you will still enjoy this range finder a lot too.
I upgraded from a cheap rangefinder, and the cost difference shows. The red markings in the viewfinder are easy to see. Use of a Garmin watch is important so if you don't have one, I would say there are other alternatives that may work just as well.
I really wanted to love the Garmin Approach Z30. I bought into the Garmin system - with the S70 watch and the CT10 sensors. So, the rangefinder seemed like a perfect fit. My issue is that the range is off between shots. For instance, I'll shoot the flag several times (just to confirm accuracy) and get 300 yards. The range gets transferred to my S70 watch just fine. But after my shot, I'll go to my ball, look at my watch for the distance, and it will show, let's say 60 yards. But, when I shoot the flag again with the Z30, it might show 50 yards. It's off just enough for me to lose confidence in its accuracy and the distances it relays to the watch. And for the price, I'd rather just use my old rangefinder. So, I am returning my Z30.
I have a competitor's more expensive rangefinder with all the elements tech. It’s the only brand I’ve ever used as a rangefinder. I was finding myself losing my feel for the elements I was in. If the wind was swirling at 10+ mph but the device said 5mph Right wind. I was going with 5mph instead of knowing it was more & swirling. I felt like my wind mgmt got worse instead of better. I wanted something with less info in view , accurate & smaller profile. bonus was it connected to my watch to put the pin placement on green. I get accurate yardage and instant distance in front of pin and behind pin.Z30 is my Favorite tech this year! Paired with my S70 watch. It’s even better !
I recently purchased the Garmin Z-30, CT10 Approach and a S70 Watch. I have a caddie with me for every round!!!!
